i've put about 8 hours into the game so far, and all i can say is wow. granted GTA games before were on the previous generation, they fit in there. the leap however is alot like GTA's first induction into 3-D. different, but now it feels at home. The story, friend/mission system is pretty tight, for any video game. The interaction with everything level just got higher, but so did realism without sacrificing fun...

i realize i haven't put a dent really into the massiveness of the game, so i'll wait before making any rants or raves just yet. i'm still trying to interpret everything [in a good way.] if you've ever played a 3-D GTA, prepare to be amazed.

i...am...lost...for...words 3.gif

i ran out to lunch yesterday and managed to get the last non preorder copy left. lucky me. The game is the best thing ive ever laid eyes on!! The story mode is neat as usual but the online play is magnificent. The whole city is opened up and its just all out fight to the death, or you can just explore which i like to do right now. There is just so much to see. like, i feel like i want to say more but i just dont know what to say...its all perfect. The game will keep me busy for weeks with all the hidden tidbits and side missions etc plus ill be playing LIVE anytime i can. Halo 3....move over, i have a new favorite game! 3.gif

I just got it today, thank God my parents reserved it. (I know... ironic, eh?) It was sold out. But holy crap, Liberty City is amazing. Too bad the bridges are blocked to Algonquin... I'll have to find a way around that 3.gif

I LOVE the radio stations. 9.gif

I finally unlocked the manhattan style island, and I must say, if you think the game is good in those crappy areas of Broker and Bohan, wait till you get in Algonquin So crazy, with the jazz station playing makes me feel like I'm literally in the city. Never had a game make me feel that way before.

EDIT: For Example, in the other boroughs, you'd see a taxi occasionally, which was realistic, but once you get to Algonquin, there are taxis everywhere, representing manhattan perfectly. New York doesn't have the best roads, most are very bumpy, and the markings are worn, and they captured that perfectly. The smaller neighborhoods even have cobblestone streets like the ones in real life!

Wow!!!  I'm blown away by this game.  There is just such an attention to detail that rivals every other game in history.  It will probably only be rivaled by the next GTA.  The city feels huge and so real.  It feels like I haven't seen the same pedestrian twice.  I've opened up Algonquin, but haven't really had a chance to explore it yet.  The 1st island is big enough.  It's like you don't even feel the need to explore the next island because there is just so much to explore on the 1st one.  I think most of this is due to the attention to detail.  The buildings don't all look the same and I have just begun to learn my way around the 1st island after a good 10 hours of play.

The radiostations are great.  I just crank up the surround sound a little and it feels almost like i'm cruising in NY with the car speakers cranked up.

If you have a 360 or PS3 this is an absolutely must have.

It's quite simply a work of art. The dialogue and voice acting are award winning........if only it could be nominated for an Academy Award. It is exactly what you would expect Martin Scorcese to come up with, with a bit of Michael Mann and a dash of Tarantino and John Woo if they combined their huge talents together and produced a game. Hats off to Sam and Dan Houser and the creative geniuses at Rockstar for creating one of the most immersive, open-ended and realistic gaming experiences ever.

How are these positive reviews! I want to go out and get it right now

Pros

I turn 17 on May 14 which makes me legible to buy the game without my parents finding out (hehe)

everything looks great like the explosions and stuff

Cons

I don't really like the sex part and stuff in the game

I just don't like it in games and stuff

I don't have a 360 yet but I will get one and finally 60 bucks.

I will wait till it drops down....

The game has been excellent but so far I have had one problem:

How the hell does Niko understand what Little Jacob is saying?! I had to turn on the subtitles just to get a hint of what the dang Jamaican was going on about.

This isn't a child's game, hence why you don't really have any good reason to call the sex parts in the game a con.22.gif If you can't take sex in games, then how come you even play the GTA series? If you can't take it, then just stick to Spongebob games...

dudeeee everyone said what I wanted to say... this game is amazing, i have had it for about 24hrs now and i have played it for the last 153.gif. The game is off the hook and anyone who hasnt played it should go now and buy it. If you did play it then you know what I am talking about. The graphics are great and this game has been the most realistic and detailed game I have played. GTA IV ROCKS

yay I got to Algonquin! 9.gif It's soo amazing, it's unbelievable. It's got everything! I also just noticed that Lazlow has another radio station (he had a radio station in every GTA game from III to San Andreas)

Dammit, only problem is that you can't get to Alderney yet - which is my favorite location. 15.gif

Yeah, same here. There should be a subtitles option that only turns them on when Little Jacob is talking. 3.gif

Kinda knew that would happen lol.

Personally, I don't think it matters what system you buy it for, it's really the same game either way.  There are said to be a few barely perceptible graphical differences, but in all honestly I can't tell the difference (i own a 360, my friend has a ps3).

I plan on buying a PS3 pretty soon here for the blue-ray player (well at least that is my excuse to own both systems)

With regards to the downloadable content for PS3 being announced, I wouldn't bet on it being of the extent of what the Xbox 360 will get considering Microsoft put some serious coin down to the tune of $50 million so they could get an advantage. At the very least Rockstar would have consulted with Microsoft before this announcement for approval as it may have been a breach of contract otherwise and they could have taken Rockstar to the cleaners over it. So as an Xbox 360 owner I'm pretty confident I made the right decision and that it will get the superior downloadable content OR we will get the content a lot sooner than that of the PS3.

one way or another, I think it's a real evidence of incapacity that MS has to put 50 million on the table to promote the 360 version of the game. at least it sounds pretty desperate.

I slowly get the feeling that MS sees the end of the 360. Maybe that's why word in the street is that a nex xbox will be announced soon.
