Where to get GMAX

GMAX is distributed still and will be in foreseeable future by Turbosquid.com

No need to search for it! Just go there and LOOK with open eyes before start clicking on everything in a fit of panic!

GMAX is a modular download. for it to work all you need is a main files. That download is 19,2Mb then you can additionally download Help files, Tutorials, etc. but these are optional. However, if you don't download and install Help files every time you'll start BAT warning window will popup saying that Help files are missing. But you can just close it (popup window) and everything will work just fine!

Ok I've been wanting create my own stuff for SC4D, so I went to download this Gmax. Then I find there's no free version, so I give up, kinda. I  downloaded the only free feature on there site "Autodesk 3ds Max8", first every thing is fine (except It seems like a program for animatronics), then I try to give it another go but this program doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. What I had for SimCity Unlimited and what I just downloaded are nothing alike. I didn't download help files because of the size of the files. If it makes a difference, the download says nothing about "Gmax". This link http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/ just takes me to where I downloaded what I thought was the "Gmax"

Well I have this Gmax, but feeling a bit overwhelmed. Gmax is about the same as the Autodesk tool I downloaded, but as before I'm lost. I'm a quick learner, so if someone wouldn't mind giving me some tips on getting started (what tools to begin using, etc.). The only thing I seem able to do is make boxes and thats it.

beside that one there are hunderedes of tutorials on the net, just search for Gmax Tutorials and there are some coming with it.

there are hundreds of gmax tutorials online just do a search for gmax tutorials and seee for yourself - sorry I hope I dont come off sounding rude but trying to teach anyone how to use gmax in words is really hard

you can get the basic tutorials from this link:

Extract to the installation path, open the application, click Help>Tutorials.

I'm very grateful for your assistance, only wish they made it more like Building Architect for SC3000 Unlimited, it was so simple & clear to design with. I've already checked into the tutorial for Gmax, so I get some of the jist of the functionality of it, I just foresee many hours on just one project.
Sooo, sweet!! Seems quite extensive (the BAT tutorial), hoping this will really help me produce some great items to up-load. I do have one more question, the tutorial mentions needing "Gmax, the BAT, the Plug-in Manager, the new Lot Editor, and the SC4 patch installed". Now of course I have "Gmax", but this "BAT" (tutorial mentions this being/meaning the same as Gmax?) I'm not sure about, am I ok? The "Plug Manager" is what I already have installed on the puter, correct? I do have the new "Lot Editor", and the "SC4 patch" is of course the game. Ok it seems like 4 questions but it's really only one, the rest is just a double check.

So we'll all more than likely have to wait till EA comes out with a new SimCity (if they do) before we'll see another free program like Gmax, for free (hopefully FREE).?

sorry for bumping this up, but I've searched the forums and always got the same link to gmax.

now, there's no more gmax over at turbosquid.com.

any ideas? or am I to wierdo to actually find it?
