Thank you Vlasky and Jack_Wilds for those very kind words! I know I can speak for the team when I say we're all grateful to have such great support from you and other commenters! So thank you!

Also, I don't think any of us expected to end up releasing so many BATs in such a short period of time. (I certainly didn't know Todd had so much stuff up his sleeve, for instance.) So here's to unintentional BAT blitzes!

I've loved the bat feast we've had over the past couple of days, and look forward to even more amazing work to come. Anyone else noticed the trend that darknite "outsells" the maxis night versions on each one, except Fisher Body although the darknite version is catching up..useless info but quite interesting.

Thanks again guys and keep them coming

Intentional or unintentional, it worked out pretty well. In fact, I don't think we could have made it work any better if we tried (and trust me, we did that once 3.gif )

gutterclub: Yes, for whatever reason, dark night BATs under my name don't get as many downloads as Maxis night does. Other uploaders seem to have more luck with Dark night. All curious speculation of course.

I think this shouldn't be taken too seriously. If you look closely, you'll have multi-part uploads where one part has been downloaded considerably more often than the other, or a lot set is released together with a dependency for it, and the lot set has far more downloads than the mandatory dependency without which it won't work... upload 2 identical files, and their download figures and ratings will vary for sure. Some of my uploads with the best comments and most downloads have the lowest rating... I could go on and on forever. Add technical problems to this list, and you can be sure that the only thing you'll get out of all this speculation is a serious headache... so just don't bother.

Those people who know what your creations are worth won't go by download count or rating anyway. I like to count myself among these people, and I must say that whenever there is a BSP release, I will invariably hit the download button, have a look at the file, and get it into my plugins folder as soon as I have use for that kind of building. BSP never ends up in a "downloaded, but never really used" or "maybe later" kind of folder, it's always top priority, and whenever I see one of those BATs pop up somewhere, I know why.

Back when the old BSP thread was mostly text and hardly if ever a BAT, I would never have imagined how much great stuff you guys would release eventually and how much momentum this team would gather... now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Wolverine will soon add his own release to the BSP portfolio!

    Thanks guys!

The DarkNite stuff is really interesting and I've been paying attention to how they compare. Not too long ago I did my first DarkNite upload, and I was shocked that the DarkNite version was more slightly more popular than the normal version. I thought DarkNite was sort of a niche for the more hardcore players, but it turns out that's not the case. Now a few months later, One Woodward Avenue has almost 3 TIMES as many DarkNite downloads as the normal version, and Todd's Fisher Body 21 is double!

I don't really understand why DarkNite stuff gets more downloads really...it just looks darker at night and the lights appear brighter because of that... Not much of a significant difference, or a difference that should make a download and rating difference. No offense to any DarkNite people here. 3.gif

Keep up the great work guys! I'm pretty sure I know what BAT Group is going to win this year. 2.gif

It's more than just that. In fact, what Maxis sells as "night" is just a day view tinted in blue, and with some activated light effects. There are still clearly defined shadows, which is absolutely illogical because there is no strong and defined light source like the sun at night. TruNite fixed this and replaced the fake night view with a physically correct night view, and DarkNite adds more profound darkness to that.

In fact, my only problem with DarkNite is that the light cones of all streetlights, from side streets to highways, are now so dark that they are just vague splotches. This is really a pity.

In the first page of this thread, you mentioned the J.L. Hudson building had been started.

I was wondering if any progress had been made on it, as I'd like to have a giant department store flagship downtown, that, unlike Detroit, won't be flattened for a parking garage.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

The post from then (I think it was 2007) was more conversational and less of an official list. Back then me and Nofunk didn't maintain official lists like that, and the BSP still doesn't today, although I think all of us have lists in the first post of our individual threads, and sometimes we keep lists privately for keeping track of things. But yeah, the ones that are actively in progress are the ones that are being posted about, and when they get uploaded I update the list in the first post of this thread. So I wouldn't put any stock in that in-progress list that was posted.

Wolverine is working on the Hudson's Building and you can see progress of that in his BAT thread.

Hey Jason. Just a small bug to report. I was going through all the BSP's recent releases and unfortunately your Maxis night growable will never actually grow. The building exemplar is set to $$$ but the lot is $$. Since the two aren't the same, it will never grow. Thought I would mention it incase you want to fix it.

Oops! Sorry Jason, forgot to mention the actual building! That's what I get for writing a quick reply before going to bed. It's the maxis night growable for your One Woodward. You just need to change the wealth level of the lot and then it'll grow (had it appear already when fixed). Fantastic work by the way. I have just finished installing all the recent bsp releases I have missed: One Woodward, Byron, Music Hall, Howard Avenue Shops and Standard Forge. Didn't find any problems with any of the rest of them. Great work all around by everyone!

Hey everyone! Things sure are quiet with the BSP these days -- I know Jason has been busy working on his portfolio, and I've just sort of been doing my own thing. But rest assured, we'll be back up and at it soon enough!

Those of you who watched the Super Bowl last night probably saw the "Imported from Detroit" commercial by Chrysler. It was a pretty powerful ad, and it had some fantastic shots of the city. Just thought I'd post it here for those of you who didn't see it, or want to watch it again!

Hope everyone is doing well! I'll try and update you all on some of my projects soon! 1.gif

P.S. I was able to identify five BSP BATs in the commercial. How many could you find? (Did I miss any?!)

How nice to hear that we can expect BSP reactivation.

As for commercial, what a hypocritical sugarcoated lullaby for the rest of America depicting Detroit as cool city with bitter edge. It's a consumption of suffer and demise.

They should have shown that theater-parking lot, inside of Michigan Central Railway Station vacant and parking lots in downtown. Shockingly deceiving imagery. Not to mention Em's crazy eyes 3.gif9.gif

I only found 4 but after watching it a few more times I was able to find 5.  The 5th was sneaky!

I had heard about the commercial but this is my first time seeing it.  It's great to a car company taking ownership of Detroit's identity like that, and making such a statement out of it by making it a superbowl commercial.

During my life there's been a lot of haters, and there still are.  But on the other side is "BUY 'MERICAN", preferably big trucks.  ever see a buy american sticker on a ford focus?  Here in Detroit buying American is buying local (still, preferably big 'MERICAN trucks), and supporting the city.

But this commercial is about class and excellence, and our design and industry heritage.  And I think that's the core of Detroit's identity, and that's what Detroit should be striving for as it gets itself back together again.

The Chrysler commercial isn't the first sign of this change either.  A few months ago I got this half inch thick, lavishly printed catalog (not even a catalog, it didn't tell you much about stores or prices or brands) from metro Detroit's upscale mall.  And the thing was chocked full of these extravagant fashion shoots throughout the region with most from the city proper.

I think I have found about five myself, but I think some of them has not been uploaded.

I watched that ad intently and also watched again online to see all that can seen... the ad it self was indeed a powerful ad stating that Detroit is alive and well, speaking of an unprecedented resurgence a hope and a future breathes thru that ad... echoing Jasoncw's words...

the lack of luster and polish from years of neglect will be attended to and all will be restored in time... Detroit will rebound and it wouldn't just be automotive as it will also be a 'midwest hollywood', place of inventiveness where inventions are but to work and not lost in dusty rooms, new energies will be used, the serious beginning to of petro fuels being the primary means of energizing the nation... the Lights are back on in Detriot
