Sorry for the lack of recent update , but this time there is a long one for Abha 2.gif

    However firstly some news...

    looksouthcopy.jpg

This short update is just some background info which should help set the scene a little as we move onto Abha.

    Replies:

The Big Z:Thanks, but there is still a long way to go !

panthersimcity4:Thanks, it helps to stand in for a mosque 3.gif

    Explodingsims:Thanks!

feliwi:Thanks, lots of Abha in this update

wallasey:Thanks, with both belonging to the same Khaledi party it doesn't matter who you vote!

Nardo69:Thanks, I've heard that often in Middle East that bus is best option for inter city travelling as usually railways arenot as developed and air travel is still pretty expensive, so I've tried to get a feel across of a overnight journey 3.gif

    nazaguy:It's the easiest way!

seven140711:Thanks , the best way is to use the rain mod to create bridges over land and then fill them with the plop water

    fern244:Thanks!

    collgab:Thanks for the reply 2.gif

Callbat:Thanks, I'll try to release them soon but I can't really say, its just the modding stuff that's keeping it back 15.gif

toki.s:Thanks, well names.. its all the same isn't it, not to worry about the heat as air con is everywhere 3.gif

ky72x:Thanks the gizmo mod is looks really much better althoug I have to brighten the pics a little bit. Also I always like to have a variety of interchanges on my highways and that style is quite common on this highway but I use other methods more on other highways, all rather complex!

    tankmank:Thanks!

bokrif:Thanks, another name change but more interesting than plain republic right? 3.gif

the next phase will probably involve different parties at the local level for the next election, also you should be interested in this update as liberty island's university branch campus is shown 3.gif

    jacqulina:Thanks for your comment !

masher:Thanks, and good to see you around 2.gif

    Aranho:Thanks, sorry I haven't bee

This is awesome, I like how you used maxis flats for dorms in the university. The best thing is it seems very realistic, even though I have never been to Dubai or Emirates

Oh good, Khaled is building up its military industries 4.gif Something we in the PSSO always enjoy in a fellow Socialist Nation 3.gif

You've constructed another excellent city, but I wonder, do you have several seperate regions to represent each Khaledi State, or is it one big one?

I love how you nestled Abha between the arms of the river - which one BTW? - with the flora so adequate to the climate!

Great work on the suburbs and neat idea with the secret industries!

You didn't disappoint me with Abha! 10.gif

Take care (and don't forget to make backups!)

Oh, sorry frogface I didn't mean to rush you or anything.

Well the update is excellent, words fail me to express my feelings on how grand and visually pleasing the city is.

Nice to see Khaled is building its military to deal with those pesky westerners! 17.gif

Fantastic update. Each image was captivating and showed off some great BATs. I love the position of Abha on the region map.

This is one great looking Journal, frogface! I especially enjoy how every detail helps the reader in the immersion of the story, I have to admit I haven't read through it all, but I'm quite convinced it will be of the same quality as your most recent updates.

    KDR is definitely worth revisiting!

Just a quick update on some new buildings that will be released soon

I decided to make some commercial buildings in the MEB set to fill the gap

they should be released with all the others such as the mosques very shortly!

they are also a mix of C$ and $$ for variety

ghobarblocks2.jpgI think they work best when used as a filler in between the gap from the suburbs and city centre

    ghobarblocks1.jpg

    Unedited and close up view

So far all that needs to be done is making the ploppables and packing the rest of the bats for release.

    Replies:

    Ntq$310:Thanks!

panthersimcity4:Thanks, and I wonder if any students of Mesias would be interested in Friendship University? 9.gif

boon1234:Thanks, though I hate to use the default buildings this was one rare occasion where they seemed to work well 3.gif

Yoman3:Thanks, military build is all well and good for the Khaledis but I'm not sure what they're neighbours think all of a sudden 3.gif

as for the regions I have 2 so far with one for the north (Ghobar and Abha) and one for the south which is  KHaled City and the rest of the country, I'm in the process of adding a third though but more on that later 2.gif

Nardo69:Thanks, the river is the Khadam River which is the lifeline of the country! though in real life the arabian climate is too harsh for rivers, but this is Simcity after all 3.gif

    glad you liked it!

Callbat:Thanks, no problem, ocassionally I need to be pushed into it otherwise I forget 18.gif

they are building up arms  because the colonel has warned of a US invasion, the usual excuse for all authoritarian states!

    2nerdy4u:Thanks!

allez l'om:Thanks for your reply 44.gif

etherian:Thanks, some of the older ones probably won't be as good because a year ago there were hardly Middle Eastern buildings and the transport mods were not as advanced but I think it will still be interesting to see how its changed 3.gif

seven140711:Thanks, I'll have a look to see if I can find it, it was made by Teirusu but his website seems to have expired so I'm not sure if its still avaliable

    jacqulina:Thanks!

crazyarchitect:Thanks, how democratic it is really though depends who you ask 3.gif

    tankmank:Thanks!

vinvin du 13:Thanks for the comment

    Jaime_ua:Thanks for replying 2.gif

Abha is so far my favourite city in the Khaledi Democratic Republic.

It is at a really nice place, with rivers and mountains. You got everything in Abha, universities in large numbers, motorway, airport, avenues, nice city centre, military and industry, railways, bridges, road constructions, riverside palm trees, mosques, downtown, suburban area...

And you have done a great balance in between them.

Now, companies from Liberty Islands will have to consider moving in Abha, investing in high tech industry. What do you think?

Your new bats look great too.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.
