Post number D!

I am, with this post, one-twentieth of the way to quintuple digits. That's right, this is my 500th post.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

8.   N_O_Body      10488

9.   Micah                 7500

11  Mikeaut1           7262

10. simwario           7234

Well I am currently at 7139... or something like that...  and sniping at the heels of the leaders in the 7K group, (simwario is not active, and Micah not super active, atm).

There is still a reasonable way to go to catch the 10K + group.

Still...  it wont be long before I enter the top ten highest posters ever on ST... on a site that is 6 years old, with over 300K members.    I never would have thought that would have been possible when I first joined the site 2 1/2 years ago, never having participated in an online forum before...  20.gif

Meh..  I know post count does not really mean anything...  but it is still pretty interesting none the less.

And this post makes 555.

I do like the repeating digit post counts... makes me feel as warm as my computer and as fuzzy as a JPEG.

Hate to precipitate on your little festival, but Mike was online and made post #7265 a few hours before you made that one. So you've got the tieing post there, not the go-ahead post.

Regardless, having made a few more after that anyway, you nevertheless are now officially in the top ten.

Watch out, though, zel's at 7264 (as of this posting). You could easily get knocked out of that spot if you don't keep it up.

You know, you bring up an interesting point. Team accounts really throw a wrench into this system. They did that just with post counts, too, but a few dozen posts between all the members of a team didn't make too much of a difference for anyone. With point tallies, it makes a huge difference.

Easiest way to rectify that for comparitive purposes: take the total points of the team account and divide it evenly amongst its members. A more involved way would be to determine how many points each member contributed, but that would require actually knowing for certain how the algorithm works... and what if multiple members worked on a single file?

I thought I just toss that out there because at the moment, NHP has 10,200+ points and as you are most likely very aware, there's a new 'NHP'  map released every day, by either myself alone or myself and papab2000, which increases that point total.  That about all the NHP account is used for.

What about all the other members of the team? Or do they not use that account?

All team members have access to the account.  What I meant by "myself and papab2000" in my last post was the maps we made jointly like "NHP Eugene Oregon By blade2k5 and papab2000" for a recent example.  Sorry about the confusion on that.  Didn't word that post correctly3.gif

Well, if I understand the "points"  correctly it adds all posts - like blog posts, new CJ section and "clasic" forum posts.

OK, I haven't commented in posts but put my CJ in the new CJ section (with rather little success, most people use the old forum) and from time to time posted in different CJs ...

Anyway,  with this post I reached the 2222 point mile stone. 16.gif

I would not be suprised if you were.    A huge number of members never post actively in the forums, they simply register for the STEX.

Sometimes I click on the profiles of members online, that I have never seen in the forums, and they have been members for years and either have no posts or very few.

It is interestingly to see that only one member has more then 20.000 posts and that she has more then double the amount of posts of the runner up. I doubt I'll ever get into that list, unless everybody else all of a sudden stops making posts. BTW: Any idea how many members have posted at least once?

Regards,

Korot

Eh. It happens with a lot of things that you get the one person who blows everyone else out of the water and is untouchable. No one ever has or ever will pitch anywhere near as many wins as Cy Young (for example).

Hard to say. I'd find it hard to believe more than half of all users, though. Probably not more than a quarter.

Though I don't know how you'd figure it out besides generating a list of all 333618 (and counting) members and individually checking the profile of each to see how many posts they have. There used to be a member directory where you could generate such a list, but it vanished with the advent of ST 5. So either FuseTalk doesn't have the capability, or it's been disabled for ordinary users and only an admin could do it.

So, the problem is unsolvable unless we ask an admin if it is possible... I wonder who we could ask? *coughnumber11cough*
