Modular Arcology

9arco.jpg

I have been looked over the forum but i have never found a proper Arcology because you cannot give one lot all the properties of a real Arcology from Sim City 2000. But what if it was done in more than one lot?

Imagine an Arcology that was split into 9 equal parts. The top, bottom and sides would all be identical while each of the corners would be identical to each other and the center would be unique. Thus one would only need to make 3 lots that fit together like a puzzle.

Then from those lots you would give them each special attributes such as plopable R$$$, plopable C$$$ or I High-Tech. You could make one for each type such as an side, corner and middle. That way one could make an arcology with whatever they wanted such as one that had all R$$$ or maybe one that was a mix of all the different types.

Also each individual lot could be the maximum lot size so once you put them all together it would make the most massive building you will ever see.

No to mention you could make maybe an inverted corner so you could make the Arcology in any shape you wanted. As long as it all fit together like a puzzle. Super long ones or star shaped ones or even horse shoe shaped Arcologies.

The problem is I have no experience in this and am looking for someone to make it. I know it’s a good idea so I thought I would post it for anyone to do.

Hi, everyone

I have visited Simtropolis many times, and since I am such a New York lover (as well as studying architecture in UIUC), I always wondered why anyone does not (that I am aware of) give very much attention to these two buildings.

I want to create these buildings on my own, but since I have practically no knowledge of the process of creating 3D buildings, I want to ask any one of you who are skilled enough and interested in these two projects.  (These buildings are hard to make, just because they are (were) adorned with such a rich ornaments.

I can provide some pictures, if necessary.

Singer building, the Beaux-Arts materpiece, was demolished in 1968, and I think it would be very awarding  to recreate this masterpiece.

Woolworth building, the Neo-Gothic Tower, is too famous and beautiful to be ignored.

Thanks,

Sorry, I still don't know very much about how this site works  4.gif

I am quite glad that Woolworth building is in progress.  I hope my pictures would help.

I forgot one thing...  (I apologize for posting this here)

The Woolworth Building's current look is not the same as what it was in 1913...

There were flying buttresses, and there were more ornaments.  (you can notice them by looking at my annotated pictures below.)

I hope that the project will reflect the Woolworth building as it was in 1913.

Sorry to you all, but I cannot find BAT request forum...

While we are on the subject, may i ask a mod to please move this mod, cuz i would wish to continue talking about this subject1.gif.

A famous quot by the Rev. S. Parkes Cadman during the opening of the building.

"The Woolworth Building will be New York's true fame.  It does not scrape the sky. It greets it."

I originally posted this in a seperate thread, but I didn't realize there was a special thread for this. I'll just quote it:

Perhaps if anyone is looking for some inspiration for a new BAT project, might I suggest the Maastoren in Rotterdam? I've been wanting to do this one myself, but I am nowhere near skilled enough to do it. I'd love to have it in my city though, perhaps someone is interested in doing it.

The building is 165m high and has 44 floors:

Apparently some BATers were confused on what i ment with he modularl Arcology. Its not a lot that can do different zone types. Its separate zoned lots that fit together, thus appear like they are a single building.

Here let me just use an example with 4 buildings. Lets say we have an Arcology shaped as a wedge. Lot #1 is a plopable R $$$, Lot #2 is a plopable C $$$, Lot #3 is a plopable I High Tech and Lot #4 is a Clean Power Plant. All of them look identical and fit together into a single mega structure when placed in the right configuration next to each other. (See Image Below)

4arco.jpg

EDIT

Here is how it would work. You would have 3 different models; Lot type A which is a side. Lot type B which is a corner. And lot type C which is the middle.

Lot A = R$$$ or C$$$ or I High Tech

Lot B = Police or Fires Station or Hospital or Power Plant (Clean)

Lot C = Park or Water Pump

Thus you would have 1 R$$$ Lot A, 1 C$$$  Lot A and 1 I High Tech Lot A. Each looking identical but each functioning with a different zone. This goes for the other lots as well. The reason Lot C has a park and water and not the other types is because the others need to touch a road but they don’t. (See Image Below).

Hi, I'm looking for some Iraqi buildings to start a new CJ. I have only found two buildings in the STEX and only one of them decent enough to be used in a CJ. I know it would be alot of work, but if someone could make these buildings for me I would really appreciate it. Here are some pictures of the type of buildings I'm looking for:

For the nicer sections of Baghdad:

iraq1ag7.jpg

The mosque, and possibly some of the apartments seen in the background:

iraq2oi1.jpg

And maybe some of these buildings:

iraq3dz1.jpg

I would also really like some of the Baghdad landmarks, and maybe some buildings from Mosul, Fallujah, and Abu Ghraib. If some of these buildings already exist could anyone please link me to them? Thanks.

I have an idea... but it's probably complicated to accomplish. (one of the reasons i'm requesting this)

It's where you could have coustom names on civic or utility or somthing like that. For example: A lot of the towns I visit have the names of their town on water towers. By doing that in SC4, you could just simply type the name in when you queiry it. That name, then, would be displayed on the water tower. Same with the Schools, Fire Dpt., Police Station... you get the idea.

I told you it could get complex, but it would be really cool if somebody could do it!

For a city journal I am going to make, I need to have some of my custom building drawings modeled and B.A.T.ted. I can not make models or B.A.T.s myself, because my computer won't allow for the programs, and I can't make an account on the Sim City 4 website. If anyone would be willing to help me out, please P.M. Thanks for any help I get!

I want a lot that is a volcano. I t would be 30 tiles wide and long. It would be a classic cone, with a cloud continously billowing from it. Lava would flow down the sides continously and collecting at the sides. Every few months it would produce a huge lava and ash jet, with steam coming out. Would be 100% flammable, and if it caught fire, every time it would produce an explosion that looked like a nuclear bomb going off, and all the power plants exploding. I'd make it myself, but I can't download the BAT creator.

Also,I want the glass dome from the Simpsons Movie! I'd like it round [ like it would only take up space where it touched the ground ], for small cities as one part, for medium cities in 4 parts an for large cities 16 parts. Each part will be 64 x 64, as big as it can be. When demolished, it comes down like ordinary landmarks do, coming down in peices. I also want the doomsday bomb that tried to destroy Springfield later on in the movie. It will be an atomic explosion, be 1x1 and have no radiation. Everything will be destroyed within a small dome radius. And I want the 'Pig Crap Silo' also from the Simpsons Movie. It would be a small prop, and also a bigger silo, 1x1. Stats; Air Pollution; 20 tiles Water Pollution;large city equivalent Radiation; A medium city equivalent And one last request for now; Mandinat Al Hareer. It is going to be finished in Dubai, 2010 or later. I'll post a link to the Wikipedia article later.

Hydromancerx: Your idea is an interesting one, the only problem I see is that it is very difficult to make residential ploppables work.(i'm sure you've heard it before) If I ever got the BAT I might try to make that.....

City2themax: Have you seen Frogface's "Khaled" stuff? That's pretty middle-eastern.
