Well, this is going to sound wierd, but back in Sim City 3000 I created a city that worshiped Furby...  Yes, that's right, FURBY!  That stupid little toy that caused no small amount of panic back in the day...  Well, this city had a huge statue of Furby in the center of town, and I have this feeling of nestalga brewing.  Who'd be willing to make a large statue of Furby?

I was searching through the STEX yesterday and I have a suggestion or request for a BAT. I am a loyal, proud, 17 year employee of the US Postal Service (no gunning down people jokes, please) and I was, let's say, disappointed by the lack of quality Post Office BATS available. I have no idea how to create a BAT and really don't have much interest in learning all of the technical stuff involved. But I would be happy to consult whoever might attempt to make a realistic set of Post Offices. (Personally I'd love to see Simgoober do it, but beggars can't be choosers) The way I figure, there should be about 4 different styles of offices, from the small local office all the way to a full Processing and Distribution Center, normally seen near or around airports in real life.

Hi Id like to request Union Station in Worcester, MA. Built in 1911, newly renovated in the 1990's, serves both Amtrak and MBTA to Boston.

some picts can be found here:

http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=union+station+worcester&btnG=Search+Images

I also know that the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY was going to be created but that was 3 years ago and only the Corning Tower has come about. This is a large, 1970's modern art inspired, monolithic government office building complex. It would be neat to have this project finished, sargeantcm started the lot way back then but hasn't had time to finish. I have many pictures upon request if any one wants to take this project up, they are also posted in the thread: Operation Buffalo Wing: A Blizzard of BAT.

Other pictures can be found here:

http://images.google.com/images?um=1&tab=wi&client=firefox-a&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=empire%20state%20plaza

Thanks

A Cricket Stadium. Any Cricket stadium. I don't care which one its based on or even if it's made up, but my cities need a cricket stadium. My cities seem *gasp* too American without a Cricket stadium.

I have been wishing for perhaps a MONORAIL to ELEVATED RAIL transition piece. If, for some reason, I have an elevated rail system in one end of m city or region and a monorail system on the other side, the only way to connect them is to build two adjacent elevated rail and monorail stations. Is this possible to make, and I so, I and probably many other people would appreciate it.

i would like to see Washington subway stations...but they aren't really subway, they're more GLR-in-avenue, except it's highway--interstate 66 on the west side of the metro area.

They all lookthe same, and have a pedestrian walkway going over the highway so the residents of Suburbia can go to work.

I'll post photos as soon as i can.

This image shows the concept for bus stop for road-centered bus lane in Seoul.

I think that, if made a GLR stop for GLRonAve(after GA) base on basic texture of GA, may it looks something strange.

and place a station besides the avenue is also strange, I think.

So how 'bout this design?

may it looks too long, but also looks natural!

How do you think?

If there someone like this,

Could you make it?

'Cause I'm not good at Batting46.gif

I really think we need some more bank branches in this game. They're everywhere in RL, but we have very few US banks in the game to choose from. How about some Wachovia, WaMu, US Bank, Citi, Chase, BoA & Wells Fargo branches?

Now I don't know if I'm mis-informed, but in response to you Patriots, autodesk no longer lets you download 3dsmax for free anymore, (they charge you an arm and a leg for it) and I've read that you need that for the BAT to work properly. 44.gif

Never mind.

Hey Za.  I had the same problem with Gmax and downloading it, but I went here -

 http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

and found it with no problem.  It should help you out!

As far as a BAT I'd like to see?  Well, it's not even a real creation (not that anyone said it had to be...), but the bridges from Artificial Intelligence: AI would be great to see.  Could you imagine driving into the giant heads?  That would be very incredible.

WOOOHOOO! I just found pictures of them.  What a web trawler:

manzanares01.jpgHah.  The image just meets the requirements for height.  In any case, I'd love to see someone make the Manzanares solar updraft prototype power plant, or an equivolent-sized solar-updraft tower.  Some stats:

244 meters in diameter (approximately a 16x16 lot)

produced only 50 kW of power (36 MWh of electricity per month).

Chimney was 195 meters tall.

I don't expect an exact duplicate, just a solar updraft power plant, really.  They're costly to build, but have an extremely low maintenance requirement, seeing as they only have the turbines at the base of the chimney as moving parts, everything else is concrete and glass.  The pictured power plant is the only power plant of its type to ever have been built, though there are two potential towers to be built in the future: one in Australia and one in Spain.  The Australian tower will be huge; the collection base being 7 km in diameter with a chimney of 1 km tall... it'll be the world's tallest structure if built.  I don't want to build a city that consists of only the power plant, obviously...  The Spanish updraft tower (Ciudad Real Torre Solar) will be a bit smaller, with a base of 350 hectacres and a tower that is 750 m tall; it is still huge, but will have a square base.  If this were made in SimCity, it'd be on a 117x117 lot, but it would produce 40 MW or 28800 MWh of power per month.  If scaled down to the Manzanares prototype, it might produce 380 MWh of power per month.

20060829_solarstick.jpg

In any case, what I would like to see is the Ciudad Real Torre Solar tower on a scale of the Manzanares tower; 16x16 lot, produces double/triple the power of a wind plant, has a rather high building cost (approx. 10,000), but an extremely low maintenance cost and a very long life span.  A good figure might be 3-5 cents per MWh, or a maintenance cost of $12-$20 for 400 MWh/mo. or $18-$30 for 600 MWh/mo.

... or something similar.

I feel rather long-spoken for my first post, here.

There is a new high rise in NYC and I saw it briefly in a luxury properties magazine. The concept: 4-story condos with 10 condos total. Which means in a 40-story building, there will be only about 40 people living in it. It wasn't a standard high rise building; it looked like a Jenga tower after a few plays. I'm going to try to find the name/location of this building, but if anyone knows of this building, consider making a BAT for it please. I think a BAT of this tower would add an interesting twist to a city that is dotted with skyscrapers.
