CHR: Thank you! I like to fill the empty spaces between residential lots with trees, so I'm happy that you like the way it looks. Same with the diagonals - they make the suburbs more interesting and break up the monotony of suburban development.

tostartpressanykey: I'm glad you liked this little trip so much, thanks for your compliments!

kingdiz_55: It sure is a big mosaic, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by!

TekindusT: Thank you, my friend! It just goes to show that even Maxis buildings can look good with the right treatment. See you around!

penguin007: I'm glad you like them! Thanks for commenting!

Raysfan16: I suppose it's a little unusual, yes, but I think the medium-density development is fairly close to the park, and it's getting closer every year. Thank you for your kind words!

crazychickensc12: Thanks, my friend! I'm glad you're so fond of the suburbs. I think I could have done a better job on Thrillsbury Park if the terrain hadn't been so hilly and I had moved the avenues around to make more room for it, but it worked out pretty well.

rufusleeken: Welcome to Nyhaven, and thanks for your compliments! I'll keep going with this CJ as long as I can manage, so you'll have plenty to enjoy in the future.

ComputerGuy890100: Thank you! These are older suburbs, built when my plugins folder was a lot smaller, so that's why you see so many Maxis buildings.

TmiguelT: I'm glad you found the mosaic so "amusing", my friend. If you like Ridgeland Park now, just wait until I've remodeled it! Thanks for stopping by!

GreekMan: I'm glad you know where I'm coming from, Chris. Unfortunately (well, fortunately for you), it seems my fast isn't going so well; I've just had too many ideas come to mind over the past couple of weeks! I'll just have to try harder to limit my playing time to Sundays... Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by, and for your kind words too!

Mayorm: Thanks! It's great to hear that I've done a good job putting everything together.

You may have thought that I was finished with my remodel of the University of Nyhaven, but that's not quite true. I can't help but notice things that could be better, and one of those things was the medical center. The Maxis disease research center just wasn't cutting it for me, so I decided to adapt another hospital for the university and make it function as a disease research center at the same time. Here's the result:

    special33.jpg

I made sure to integrate the new lot with its surroundings, adding path connections where they were needed. Overall, I'm much happier with this hospital; its size makes it much more appropriate for a city of three million than the dinky Maxis disease research center, I think.

Nice hospital. Question: Is that building in front of it also part of the hospital/university?

    Regards,

    Korot

ComputerGuy890100: Thank you, my friend! I think lots look great when there's some sort of continuity between them, so making the new hospital lot BSC parks-compliant was a given when I set out to create a better university hospital. Glad you like it!

    DCMetro34: Thanks!

TmiguelT: I'm glad you like the re-lot so much, thank you very much!

Bigbuilder: Welcome to Nyhaven, and thanks for commenting! I'm happy that you like it.

Mayorm: Thank you! If you want the original hospital, it's part of the LBT Hospitals Pack on the STEX. If you mean that you want my re-lot, well, I'd have to get the BATter's permission before uploading it, I think, but it's certainly possible.

kingdiz_55: It seems to be a popular hospital, that's for sure. Thanks very much for your compliments!

TekindusT: Thank you, my friend! This hospital is definitely great for urban settings, I agree.

Korot: Thanks! The other building is actually the university hotel (if that seems like a strange thing for a university to have, consider that UCLA has its own guest house, which is more or less the same thing), but I'm not convinced that it belongs there. I'm considering replacing it with one or two smaller buildings and a custom entrance sign at the avenue intersection.

This week, we're taking a little trip up to the suburban city of Skamokawa, northwest of central Nyhaven. This city has been home to a number of upscale resort hotels for over a century, and they're all clustered together just a stone's throw from downtown Skamokawa:

    special34c.jpg

While some of the hotels have been rebuilt more recently, a few have remained unchanged since the 1890s (aside from modernizing their amenities, of course). These hotels have made Skamokawa a popular honeymoon destination for decades.

Pretty cool. However, I would certainly want to avoid parking at that marina at the top left!

Steep cliff behind house. Hmm, somehow, that doesn't sound wise to me. Nice teaser though.

    DCMetro34: Thanks!

Raysfan16: Thank you, my friend! Yeah, those marins parking lots aren't the best places to park...

ComputerGuy890100: Thanks! After reading all the comments on those parking lots, I decided to just get rid of the marinas on that side of the breakwater. They're not really necessary, anyway, since there's a nice harbor on the other side of the breakwater. You'll get to see the reworked area in a bit...

Mayorm: Thank you! No worries about the hospital relot.

TekindusT: I'm glad you like the different scenery so much. Thanks! As for your thoughts, I think you may be right about that...

kingdiz_55: Thank you! Feel free to use my work as inspiration for your own city-building, if you think so highly of it.

Korot: Yes, working with such height differences can cause problems at times. The only reason that this island is so high above sea level is to let me build sunken highways elsewhere in the region; if I had stuck with scale-accurate elevations, that option wouldn't be available to me in most of the flatter parts of the city. Thanks for commenting, though!

crazychickensc12: Indeed it can, that much is true. Thank you very much for your kind words, my friend!

Bigbuilder: I'm glad you like the area! Welcome to Nyhaven, and thanks for your compliments!

TmiguelT: Thank you! You'll get your wish just as soon as I can prepare some pictures, since I've already redone this area to make room for more hotels.

Sorry to be posting this special so much later than usual. Last Thursday was a busy day for me, between finals, finishing an SC4 project (which you'll get to see before too long) and driving home for spring break. This coming Thursday won't be any better, so I thought it best to post this special now rather than make you all wait three weeks for something new from Nyhaven. So then, what do I have for you today? Have a look:

    special35.jpg

The caption says it all, really. This is the corner of Ironwood Avenue and Broadway, in the Greektown neighborhood. If the small grey rowhouses don't look familiar (or even if they do), they're giorgos69's Athenian Apartments, but resized in the Reader to be truly W2W and closer to a realistic scale. Giorgos has already given me permission to upload the resized models and lots, so once I make a couple of adjustments to the lots (like making the buildings line up properly), they'll be available for all to download on the STEX.

Looks like a very nice place to live.

Don't know what French and American buildings are doing in there though... (and I think Dutch), but nice picture to keep us hungry for the next update.
