Lawnchair larry is the sim version of the real guy who filled some weather ballons with helium and attached them to a lawn chair back in the 80's or early 90's (california I belive) He floated a few thousand feet up and brough a case of beer with him, Eventually popping a few ballons with a pellet gun to come back down. He got in a bunch of trouble from the FAA for disrupting flights and such too.

I don't exactly know HOW MANY eastereggs there are in the game, but I counted several, including the snow in december, the crashing planes and parachutists, the funny yellow things in the water, I've seen only once and others. Does anyone else know how many exactly?

Lawnchair Larry appears in my list of props when I am editing a lot.  You could add him to any lot you wish.

I know that there are whales that sometimes appear in the water, and those little green cars that go on the railroad tracks. I forgot what they are called, but they can also go on roads. They can be called an Easter egg, but I find them annoying - they're always causing congestion on my railways.

You've discovered Lawnchair Larry, a remnant from one of the older SimCity games.quote>

    huh?

he's not from classic, 2000 or 3000 vanilla. maybe unlimited as i never had it.

Aww, Lawnchair Larry! Yeah, wasn't he in SC2000 or something? quote>

these were the ones in 2000:

clicking on a helicopter with the "crosshairs" pan tool shoots it down

maxis man. He flies around and will put out fires and also has a tendancy to get stuck in buildings or the ground.

the mechanical spider monster will sometimes shoot water, trees, or even windmills instead of fire

loch ness monster.lurks in ground water and eats sailboats. shows up only when you have lots of parks/marinas.

clicking on the sailboat brings up a dialog that says "FIRST LIGHT. Captain Mike Scirca". he was one of the developers of the game according the credits.

Planes can crash into buildings and or mountains and blow up. They can also get stuck if they get between arcos or really tall buildings.

Launch arcos will actually blast off after a long long time. a dialog appears saying "The Exodus has begun"

demolishing the rails 1 tile ahead of a train will cause it to derail and explode. actually, trains will always blow up the the rails underneath them are destroyed by the bulldozer or the changing terrain caused by a volcano. However, floodwater or fire wont hurt them.

not really easter eggs but glitches:

in terrain editor flooding a city tile with waterfalls will cause the places with waterfalls to become holes in the map that cannot be developed.

sometimes airport/military buildings plopped in scurk will get redeveloped as runways and any extra tiles they took up will be left blank as un-developable holes in the map

If a train bumps into two other trains on its front and back it will break down and quit moving. its common to find a bunch of 'dead' trains stuck together  at the end  of a track.

Fire burns up roads and power lines for some reason

sometimes all residential lots will be taken up by churches. im not sure why this happens. This only happened to me in the DOS version.

there is a way you can right click to erase buildings, but their stats remain. you can do the same with the individual pieces of a freeway and even bridges.

by raising and lowering the water level, ground water and waterfalls can be built on. this is handy because you can plant trees on the water and make swamps. unfortunately you cannot add on to these bodies of water because a shore will be formed around any  new ground water tiles plopped up against the old water tiles.

you can maroon sailboats by using terrain tools to make the water they are on become land. however, they will usually dissappear after a while.

I heard buildings can randomly appear off the map, however it has not been confirmed.

you can change what the image of the neighbor citys look like by opening up the bmp file in paint.

in scurk their is a missle silo that can appear on army bases. however, i have never been able to make it be built.

okay, so im a bit obsessive about simcity 2000....

Ohhhh. I bet that's what I was remembering!!

Although for some really odd reason, I do seem to remember this Lawnchair Larry guy. Maybe it was 3000? Heck, I dunno...

Ok, well i found a glitch/easter egg in the game...

If you query a building in sc4, and then click on its name, i.e "sim spa and beauty" you can highlight the name, or click in the box where the name is and press backspace, and then type in what ever you want, and the building will be renamed this! Please note: ALL buildings that are exactly the same to the building you renamed, will be renamed the same name that you gave the first building. if you were to name a small police station" fisrt precint" ALL small police station will be named "first precint"

Ahh...not to rain on your parade, but that's neither a glitch nor an Easter Egg.  It's a standard feature that's been in the game since it first came out in 2003, intentionally put there to allow a bit more customization, and to give your cities a more personal feel.

    Hi, Strategist01,

Um, well, I'd always thought of it as a many story basement, 3.gif but now that you mention it, I like the underground parking garage theory better.  Yeah, that's it, it's a parking garage, how come I never realized that?!  doh.gif Except when it happens to single unit houses--that would be a bit much.  41.gif  And how to drive out?  47.gif  Seriously, I think it is just a glitch.

Let me know if I can help clear anything else up for you.  21.gif

well i thought it would only happen to the medium density buildings, as they would be obvious candidates for the undergroung parking lots...low density, you always see the car parked in the driveway...it think it might only be on the edge of the map, and i always wondered where those 72 ppl parked...but my city uses tons of mass transit from the beggining, so most of them are pedestrians 3.gif

Hee, hee, I've seen pics where it happened with the small houses as well, in an old thread called...Show Us Your Random Glitches...or Humorous Shots, or something like that.  I can't find it in the Show Us Your...section anymore.  It was very old, big and some of the pic links were broken.  But you've probably seen the Show Us Your Games Oddities threadat SC4D, and there is an endless basement on a single unit house at the bottom of this page.  Lawn Chair Larry is also shown on a page before, as well as most of the other things mentioned in this thread.

These are called model-foundations. They belong to the building and are used in case when it is build on a deeper slope, so that the building itself is not *floating* in the air. It is kind of a glitch if you want to when they appear on the edge of the citytile. Probably because when the model is closer to the edge than usual they appear.

Something I have noticed is in the underground view when you look at where a graveyard is you can sometimes see zombies walking around. It only happens sometimes and Im not sure when.

Actually, you can find them when your'e above ground, you just have to zoom to the closest level, and they only appear in the month of october (think halloween). sometimes you will also see sims in the graveyard, and if they see the zombies, they scream and run away! also the zombies seem to migrate to the centre, where the tomb is...
