Congratulations!!! What a fantastic BAT and also for Liverpool FC this will be a great stadium ... if they can afford building it, now they have bought Dirk Kuyt from Feyenoord Rotterdam ( my favorite club ).

Wow, looks great! Except the grass around the outside. 3.gif Looks kind of fake... It could also use trees and bushes and other decorations, but I assume you are not at that point yet... 3.gif

That stadium is stunning ... I'm truely blown away by the incredible leap of talent that has hit the site in the last few months.

My Cities are filling up with your bats and this one is no execption, it will be placed in the heart of my CJ as soon as you release it.

I really cannot even start to imagine what you are going to come up with next.

Thanks for comments. Here is the update. Some more details added.

    render7en5.jpg

    render5ie8.jpg

I also changed the texture of the area outside so that it become a plazza for the liverpool fans. Next is more details in side the stadium, fences,  ads, big screens, ect. Anyone have suggestions on how to improve this thing? Your comments are very helpful, thanks again!

The inner part of the roof, is it suppose to be glass or some sort of transparent polimer? Love it asymmetric contour! If so try make it transparent that would create great looking shadow on the field and stands! Apart from that there isn't really much to add! Model looks great! huge step up compare to your first bats! But you have stared good to and with very good (I envy you!!-in a good way) choice of structures! they are quite challenging , but that is the way to learn! if you just bat boxes then there isn’t much room for improvement either!

I'm dying to see it with night lights on!! that must be quite a spectacle!!

Btw how about filling the stadium with fans for the game?

Is the blue area of the roof supposed to not be centered, like it is? Or is it suppposed to be centered? It looks a little odd.

The plaza look MUCH better then the grass. It is a big improvment. Very nice stadium that I would definitely put in a city of mine! Keep up the good work! 9.gif

The glass on the roof is suppose to be asymmetric. Here is a render from the official website of the new anfield.

I kind of like it asymmetric, it gives the roof a special look. I guess it depends on different taste...

I'm sure it has been done on purpose! I believe it takes in account trajectory of the sun in the sky in that particular part of the world! And I agree with Dmscopio - it adds greatly to the structure, make it appear much more dynamic.

Suggestions? Mmmm... well if you insist, I might suggest more details around the base. Spline lines on the walls, trim around the little roofs, just stuff to break any large regions of a single solid texture. But really, I can't complain. Looks great.

@6459978., not sure what you mean by the Spline line on the walls, little roofs, and breaking stuff into solid texture. Would be great if you can provide some more info with visual aids.

@Kaji, the roof is a group of 4 shapes created by the boolean shapes and FFD box modifier. Its a bit compicated to descript by words, but if you are familiar with these 2 tools in 3ds max, it is really straight forwards. If you interest, I can post a small tutorial here.

Thanks for the comments! BTW, any Liverpool fans here?

There's a typo - you spelled "Anfeild". Sorry - typos are okay on the forums, but not as part of the BAT!!

Oh, ok... It is done on purpose! 4.gif

By the way, the glass on the roof would look really cool if it was semi-transparent. 3.gif

OK, this is a step by step tutorial requested by kaji. This will go over my method of making the roof for my New Anfield stadium. There might be an easier way to do this. if you know always welcome to post your idea here.

    So here it is:

Step1, create a spline showed in the picture.

    roof1zc8.jpg

Extrude  the spline, so that it looks something like this:

    roof2uu0.jpg

This will be one of four leaves of the roof.

Step 2. Now use the FFD 2x2x2 modifier in the modifier list. Click on the + icon in front of it, it will give you 3 options, COntrol Points, Lattice, and Set Volume. Click on Control Points. It will be highlighted, and you will able to select and manipulate points at the 4 corner of the FFD box.

    roof3wy8.jpg

Adjust the FFD box as the red arrows shown in the picture. And then right click your mouse to exit the FFD box. make 4 copies the roof leaf, line them up like the picture below. Use the FFD box to adjust the edges so that they line up perfectly.

    roof4wb4.jpg

    Step 3:

Create  a donut by spline  and extrude tool, not the donut shape in the standard shape.

intersect the 4 roof leaves with the donut shape.

    roof5li5.jpg

Now use the boolean tool. Select one of the leaf as Operand A, and the donut as operand B. do the intersection operation, make sure you also make copy of the operand B, so that you can do multiple operation on all 4 leaves.

    roof6bf8.jpg

    roof7vs7.jpg

Once you've done all 4 leaves, you are pretty much done.  You might want to convert it into mesh then explode to make it smoother.

    roof8xo4.jpg

There you go. Very simple isn't it? You can also use the boolean operation to create glass and other details on the roof. I will not go over them here, since they are pretty straight forwards. Let me know if you got any question then.

    Cheers!

wow  that is ever so simple but truly effective ~ great job and thanks for sharing your tutorial. btw are you totally self taught or do you have any good sites to list for tutorials? like i said im pretty handy ~ see  walnut creek for  my current work (sorry shameless plug) but i always like to expand my knowledge especially since im starting university in 5 weeks and i'll be using these types of programs in more demanding ways.

    thanks again

Sorry to barge into this conversation but if you look for tutorials for MAX good place to start is 3D Total.

Plus, many tutorials could be found on other sites dedicated to 3D modeling. Quite good one is Evermotion , but there are plenty others as well - often national ones (non english), Just Google them! You can actually go to forums ther and aslk people questions - most of the time you'll get reply 5.gif
