In this pages header is a picture of the North Saskatchewan River facing west from the LRT Bridge. In the left side of the photo at the top of the Valley is one of the older University of Alberta Buildings. In the distance is the Quesnell Bridge which is shown on Page 33.

Unforunately, in this very correct city journal, I think this picture shows the Groat Road Bridge. The Quesnel is the bridge for the whitemud, would should be the next river crossing to the west!

Correct me if I'm wrong...

    Roads Complete in Millwoods

After laying down roads in Millwoods on and off for the better part of a year this area is finished. There are a few nieghboring areas that need to be completed. After that the entire South Side of the city will be complete. The largest gap right now is NE Edmonton. Funny the area I grew up in is the last area to be finished.

Wow! I had no idea u were doing it exactly the way it was made.  No wonder this city won the most realistic Trixie award.  I have been looking at this region, probaly everyday, since ive been a member at ST.  And it always suprises me the way u make the city so nicely and elaborately.  Good (no Great) Job!

    Hot damn!  That's awesome.

Could I get a close-up of the railyard in the Mill Creek area?

BTW: It's not odd to be leaving your home area for last... you're more likely to nit-pick it since you know it well.

Vigo : I know your school. I haven't started that area and its not that close. About 30 some Blocks east of me. I remember when they built that in th eearly 90's. You must live in Clareview. I should start on that in the next week. I think tonight I will try and finish up the South and South East. I also wouldn't mind making an update giving a rough area of Simtropolis members and where they live in Edmonton. I have met well over 50 people from Edmonton on ST. 11.gif

TJD, i got a question.  It seems that each time i make a city, with roads, which seems to be the things u are using, (roads and avenues) in residential areas.  Anyways when i put a road near a residential area, a few minutes later, all the buildings on it are becomeing abandoned because of High Traffic Volume.  It must be the traffic volume because everything else was high, except crime and pollution.  Any idea on how u are getting away with it.  I agree with post 2 above me, i love the curvy roads, they add a uniqueness to Edmonton.   i have still been coming here everyday, and there is always somethong new and interesting each day.  This is one of the few CJ's that i actually go to everyday, even if they are not updated yet, i have looked at every single page on Edmonton.  I noticed some of the pictures of Edmonton on the first couple of pages are not there anymore.  I dont think ST should of deleted them though, they should delete pictures of CJs that no one has been posting on, after all this is the most viewed CJ in ST.  and with tons of posts (and still rising) they should probably from here on keep your pictures from earlier pages because then people can see what Edmenton looked like as it was bieng built.  Ok well hope to talk to you later on chat or whatever.  Cya!

    South East Roads Near Completion.
I've done some more work in the south east area of the city. I'm really looking to finishing most roads, if not all in the City in the next month. St. Alberta (NW), may be a little later.

    NAM Crashes Edmonton

Anyone who knows this region well knows I don't use NAM.
I was going to try a new style interchange with raised Avenues.
Finally today I began working on Edmonton for nearly an hour. I was making progress in a very hard NE area of Edmonton. I even re-terraformed an extremely hard part of the city. Then I decided to try NAM finally. The game crashed and exited the game losing all work I have done today. Luckily I backed up the entire region yesterday. I never have any problems with Sim City. But....? 28.gif

Don't get me wrong, NAM is a great program. The best ever made for Sim City. I would recomend it to anyone. I'm just iffy when something like that happens.

If you use the dirt roads modd, the high wealth brick road modd, or any of several other modds that alter transportation systems (other than road top mass transit, the bugfixes, or a pathfinding modd) then you will probably experience crashing when you introduce the NAM. This happened to me when I was first starting my Klondike delta region, and is probably your problem.

the city is nice and all, but i thought that there was only one road in Canada.  hehe, canada humor, get it, no, anyways, i was wondering why u dont post any pics of the whole city, (u do but it is just transportation maps).  I am just wondering what the city would look like, i tried looking back at previous pictures, but i think i only found one.

Well after finally getting some time to play I've laid down a ton of roads in NE Edmonton. I can safely say 85-90% of the roads are finished for the city now. It's nice being able to glance at the region and see exactly what needs to be done with out being overwelmed. Clareview is nearly finished. The Hermitage area which was wiped out the other day needs re-done.

Well, there is a CN Tower in Toronto... the more famous one, but CN is a pretty big organization, they have more than one tower.
Don't feel bad though, there are even more than a few Canadians who don't realize there is a CN Tower in Edmonton.

Jerseydevil: as always, I am just so impressed with what you are accomplishing here.
    Truly inspirational!

This CJ ceases to amaze me. I've never been to Edmonton, but I can tell that your version is pretty dang close to the real thing.

TJD: If you want to run SimNation now, I'll let you. I know you were interested before. If you don't want to do it, that's fine. The site really hasn't been very active. But if you want to take the helm for the forums, just ask and I'll upgrade you from mod to admin. 10.gif

Also, I have a question about the aiport. That thing is awesome. How'd you make it with the diagonal runway/tarmac area? Thanks.

JLee : The CN Tower is also in Edmonton. If you go back a couple of pages you will see this was braught up.

Comdude21 : The Airport is from a special airport pack that was made. I wish the creator released it but I'm not sure what happened. Threw a friend on MSN I was able to get a copy. It does have some issues and as far as I know its in BETA.
(off topic) - Thanks for the offer to run SimNation but after being an admin and seeing you give up on it so quickly I lost interest in the site. As you can see from this CJ I don't like giving up.

JLee : The curved roads are made by at times making streets zig zag or roads turn often. By laying things properly you can get this effect. Besides I don't have a choice. I lay the roads to scale so this is what is left lol.

beebs : Sorry for the delay on Terwillegar. But with it only being roads and streets at the moment its not much to look at. I am finishing the roads in North East Edmonton. After that I may see how the R$$ demand is. I need to place alot more commercial before the regions population starts gaining alot again.

The amount of work you have clearly put into this city journal is amazing.  Your dedication shows through clearly in your attention to detail, and your wonderful aesthetics only help.  You are certainly deserving of Earth's Most-Viewed City Journal.

    Amazing ... 44.gif
