I don't know what your looking at. Anyone from chat knows I make alot of type-o's. This CJ is most likely full of them, I found many myself. But I only see Field on this page on the table of contents. And it is correct. You may be looking at a photo of Telus Field where I misspelled it in the game then uploaded the picture?
Perhaps you could get a job on Simtropolis as the forum editor and make sure every reply is correct?
Thanks for keeping an eye open SimTiki. Btw you have a great CJ there. Just checked out your link.

This is great..but a little ..error i kinda noticed..Lessard Road southe of Callingwood toad doesnt go quite as close to the river as you show it (its within the circled area), There is a whole neighborhood between that road and the river, and another road where 6 mansions with huge lots back onto the river, and about 6-7 more closer together, its all really recent  development though (within the last 4 years), so check a recent map.

btw, does anyone know what i need to download in order to get roads and avenues to cross eachother in tunnels or bridges, like it's done e.g. on the yellowhead trail?

brett_131 : You have a great eye. And yes I know about that. If you look closely at the river bottom below that you will notice a ledge. I am going to move the top closer to the river and take away from the room at the bottom of the valley which isnt there. There are many places like this threw out the vally that get slightly altered as I build the road network. Once roads are measured and layed I can get a much more accurate terraformed area. Infact the whole area along Jasper ave had to be redone alot to get it accurate and is still under work. The area by lessard road is only off by about 3-6 tiles and doesn't have a whole nieghborhood but a few roads on either side of the appex of the curve. In the middle of the curve there isn't anything even between Lessard road and the valley.

jesped8 : Theres a lot on the Stex that has the underpasses. Its very usefull and comes with a few different types.

Thanks for everyones replies. Nice to see the CJ picking up at a good rate again. And Brett_131 thanks again for keeping an eye out. Especialy in SW Edmonton. Growing up in the NE area for my whole life its hard to know an area that I've rarely seen. I've been to Callingwood arena a few times but never further SW then that. Only 200 blocks away 11.gif

ChicAgo333 found a great map for the Edmonton region. Although downtown is the only area for building view zooms. For other areas Around the city I have another resourse for reviewing farms. Here is an example.

Wow. I am always amazed when people recreate cities. I can't even imagine the time and effort that goes into that. It bears repeating - Great Job!!

    Callingwood Park - First Draft
This will be improved later. But in a quick hours work I put together the basics for the park. Its nice having the new sat pics for areas of the city. I can build areas faster and more accurate. But I find it leaving me at the limits of Sim City and my willingness of how far to go to recreate basic areas. Still with this I will most likely try to get areas looking fairly close to as is in real life as I can. Hope this can bring the City to a new level.
*Note : If you see power lines at times in pictures I use them for markers from my map. Often from these I will do cross referencing and measurments on all things placed in Edmonton. After an area is done I take whats left of the power line markers out. I thaught they would be neat to leave in this picture and explain why.

EDIT : The YMCA is the building above the one I marked. The building marked #1 is a catholic high school.

    hola..

just something id point out to you.. There are 2 buildings you see in the arial photo.  The one to the south, right on 69th and 178th is NOT part of the YMCA but is Archbishop Oscar Romero Catholic High School..

And could you send a couple pics of callingwood neighborhood cause i can reallly help you with placing of things like schools, businesses, R$ R$$ R$$$, etc.

brett_131 : Perfect...like I said earlier this is the area of Edmonton furthest from me. Can you take that sat pic and label which building is what. I find it funny on my map that lists all schools in Edmonton that it did not label that building as a school. And I haven't been there for years but the building closest to the intersection isn't that the YMCA?
Internet source Archbishop Oscar Romero High School is situated in the Callingwood community right beside the Jamie Platz YMCA and the Callingwood Arenas
Wouldn't that make it the only unlabeld building in my in game photo?

Just thought I would drop by and say what a great job your doing. I know this has been said before but the ammount of detail you are putting into this is amazing! This project is one of the best all around journals, and THE best recreation journal hands down. I really can't find anything in this journal that is not true to life. What really stands out are your region transit views. It looks like a real map!

    Again, awsome job. 6.gif

    Callingwood Dec 27th
I have a little more work to do on roads in the highlighted area. But the area is coming along good. I extended the river valley along a small stretch. But I have more terraforming to do aswell as brushing it up to look more natural.

wow its really accurate in callingwood--and its probably one of the hardest areas to do too..

I live in that area, so i know its hard--past a certain street, half the roads go from numbers to names, and they go all curvy.

Hey TJD. I see you've got something over at the mall area. Any chance of seeing a shot, if there's anything to show?

Speaking of West Edmonton Mall.....I'm just getting back from there.
On the map its just simple road tracing the site of the building. If you look at my contents you can find photos of the area previously shown.
Brett I did your street and Dechene Park today after that last update aswell. The thing I hate most about laying zones/buildings is its hard to see smaller roads on the transportation map after. Alot more to come from that area. I have alot to do there in the next while and I want to finish at least the roads before I switch to another area......
Often I switch back and forth from up to 10 areas to keep things interesting.

Still Edmonton is going great, I am admiring the attention to detail. I have a question though:
I was wondering which lot-pack I have to download to get the diagonal tarmac pieces that I spotted on the airport pictures?

    Thanks

I just got a new program to edit photos with. I was playing around with it and made this cheesy update. For other pictures coming up I should be able to finally improve updates
x-man : That airport pack isn't available. It isn't mine but I was able to get it from a friend. Hopefully one day it will be released. I wish I knoew who originally made it so I could give them there due credit.

brett_131 : I've done more work on Callingwood. Soon I'll have the area ready for you in picture form. I may even send you a copy of that one area of the city if you would like.

Daecember 28th : I also have done alot of work on the University of Alberta farms of late aswell. I baught a printer today. Now that I can print out satelitte and arial photos it speeds up what I can do and makes the accuracy alot higher. Before I had to enter/exit the game over and over and try to remember all the details of what I saw. Until now I've never needed a printer but now that I'm using one again...what a diff. Solves alot of headaches.
