TJD, this is an awsome CJ. The airport is really really close to the one in the pics. Your streets bend in ways I haven't seen in SC. Then the fact you hand terraformed the whole thing is just mind blowing. I think this will be the longest ever running CJ's on Simtrop. Go TJD

Standby.

You have done an excellent job in rebuilding Edmonton!

The accuracy and detail is incredible - I like how you are bringing in real Edmonton buildings.

Finally had to make my first post to commend you on your efforts.

Awesome Job!

Groat Road : This is a Road that heads south from Westmount down a ravine with many curves. Just out of the Ravine is the Groat Bridge which heads south just west of the University Area.

Amazing updates again! BTW, when you are finished with riverbend (or you call it tewillegar) I wouldn't mind seeing some close up pics, if it isn't too much trouble. It would be very interesting to compare your version with the real area which I know so well.

One quiestion. When you are completely done the whole region, is it possible to download it with all the buildings and roads still there?

    Anyways, good job.44.gif

How did you make that bridge without going over water ? I've been trying to trick SC4 into doing that for months and I just can't get it. Do tell !!!

Believe in only what you can prove.

I have alot of Bridges like that and with a good percentage with roads under them. I'll show more pics of bridges that have been made in that style. Edmonton has alot of Ravines the shoot out from the river into different areas. I try to get the bridges to work bu I find if I have a problem I will take that Canyon (God mode) tool and put it on its smallest setting (Ctrl+1). Then I pretty well drill a hole near a side of the valley that is hard to see. I drill down below the water level. Now drag the bridge over again and it should work most of the time. This is just one small trick to use among others. I should have some pictures later tonight.

Brtlrt : I have only made roads in the SW corner and I have alot more to do. But as you can see from the regional map there is progress. Also I haven't made any buildings along the south side of the city. I also don't know that area well since its on the other side of the city from me. So maybe you can help as offered. I'll keep you posted.

This is kinda picky, but in the picture, where the Avenue ends to the left (just north of the parking lot in that pic) there is a jr high  -  high school (Amiskwaciy Academy)..My mom works there.  Its pretty small, but takes up pretty much that field area..right affter the avenue end.  Hope i helped a bit. (its actually in a converted AIrport hangar).

    Looks great..

and the picture of the waterpark you used last page..its really old, it still has Cannonball Run in it..and Screamer is white..welll you probably dont kow what im talking about, but i work there, so i know it a little bit too well.

brtlrt : Infact on that picture the road should actually continue at a 45 degree angle a bit further then slightly curve instead of being a corner. But if I was to have any chance of ever having a terminal this was the only option. That feild is actually part of the terminal and is the smallest one I found and was able to use in any way. The terminal messed up a small area of the runways aswell...but what to do? I could fit that school in to the right of the avenue end where the parking lot is. I haven't been down that way in months and when I was I didn't note the sudleties. I had to use that arial pic on the previous page to recreate the whole area. But thanks for keeping an eye out.
With a city the size of Edmonton with 100's of thousands of buildings its hard to remember some small things with out estimating. Its nice having people keep an eye out.

    Evergreen

Evergreen is located in the far North East corner of Edmonton. Mainly farmland with some greenhouses aswell as the Evergreen trailer court. Manning drive also runs threw the area to Fort Saskatchewan a city of 15,000 which is just outside of my regional map. I took a few random up close photos since most of this area isn't finished and has some gaps.

    SW Edmonton
This is the far SW corner of the region. It is far from finished but I wanted to show a preview of what the area is looking like and another great map from Feepa I'm using to recreate the area. That red line on the map is Anthony Henday drive. It is curently under construction and will be Edmonton's first ring road when completed.
I'm surprised at how many updates I've done of late and had no replies? If anyone has any request and wants to see different things just ask.

I have some more curiosities and questions about Edmonton in real life and in your journal.

How are you going to re-create the University of Alberta? And what is the U of A farm, and how are you going to re-create that?

I have a map that points out a blank-looking area called CFB Edmonton (Griesbach) or the Griesbach Barracks. What is this and how will you re-create it?

Sorry if I'm getting ahead of you, but this CJ is so fascinating - It feels like I'm actually visiting Edmonton for the first time, and seeing all these things unfold in front of me. Keep it up!

    Thanks for the questions.....
    And thanks for 40,000 views

abcd : There are a few pictures of downtown upclose. There isn't muched finished but next time I load the game I'll take a picture of the far west end of downtown to show. (124st and Jasper Ave area).

kassarc16 : For the farms I try to emulate the real ones with the little info I have. For the Evergreen ones I used to zone map and for the SW Edmonton farms I used that satellite photo. I mix the god mode trees and some of pegs random trees to get a realistic look. I find to get farm demand going you need roughly the same number in res as you do for farm jobs. And keep your education below 50. To get the shapes of the farms like that I pause the game then build it in blocks by holding shift. Then to shape it I dezone the extra....saround it by trees and then get the game rolling again. Thats one trick out of a few to get farms to look like that and my most common used one.
And for the automata lots I haven't made anymore. I haven't needed any effectso for areas yet. But I'm sure I could make a few anytime I need. Maybe I'll make a pack of them then release it on the Stex. It's nice have more random appearing things in the city without needing the usual lot to span them.

quito : For the University of Alberta I may make some custom lots. It has many modern buildings mixed with many 100 years old. The U of A farms are no different then usual looking farms. The only difference is its in the middle of the city. I have some good arial pictures to recreate that.
And CFB Edmonton used to be Millitary housing. The city has grown around this area and is in the middle of being remade with new housing. Much of the housing there now is from WW2. Also currently there are some large military halls and old style buildings on that land. Edmonton has a huge air base that borders to the north of my map but is out of the region. Alot of the military live out there now. I've actually layed the roads for Griesbach already.

Please keep the questions coming aswell as request!!
