I joined because the Maxis BBS community was raving over ST.  I came here for tips and other things, but the off-topic and forum games kept me here for good.  I rarely pop in the BBS anymore and now Simtropolis is my official online hangout.  Here the people are friendly, optimistic, and helpful whereas the BBS can get negative at times.

But the real reason?  Good, ol' fashioned brainwashin'. 47.gif

wow i joined here whent here was like 50 members and the only active ones were the admin (dirk, rybolton, simjez, golfbunny and a few others)... i just got a wild hair one day and did a search for SimCity to see if there was any news on a new one coming out. I saw the original ezboard and it was linked to a newly formed Simtropolis. It was maybe 3-5 days old (Oct or Nov 2002 i think it was).

I started going crazy with everything possible and first month i had 1000 posts (then they went to Simtrop v2.0 and reset post counts). The roots of the community is defnitely still here even if the key holders have been added to/changed. I have seen all kinds of people come and go and get banned (including myself for a short while due to immature stunt).

Ah the good ol days.

Seeing as we're on the subject of the 'old crowd' 18.gif, where are thy451, sharr, charybdis (the one with the Sean Connery avatar) and the rest?? Are they still active, albeit rarely or are they gone for good???

I missed a lot of the action on ST because I was lurking for so long. 28.gif

I joined because of the STEX and I had heard about it when it was featured on the simcity.com homepage.

I joined SimTropolis because I love SimCity 4, and obviously most of the people here are indeed here for that exact same purpose. The people here are friendly (most of them, anyway), and the members are quite passionate about the game that we all have in common: SimCity.

So yeah, that's why I joined. 18.gif

I found Simtropolis through Paletexan's cities of Carthage and Vicivitas (websites). But everytime I came to Simtropolis I wouldn't want to sign up because i heard the site had slow downloads. Finally when my computer was upgraded, I came to the site and I've been here ever since!! It is definitely the best Sim City 4 website out there today!!

In fact, my year anniversary on Simtropolis is coming up in just a couple days!! 39.gif

If I can remember correctly, I found this site through an investigation I did when I downloaded Rubik's WTC and Brenda_Xne's monorail station from the simcity.com exchange. All the other lots/bats on that site were terrible and subpar to most all of Simtropolis' bats (even the notorious first bat) and I did a search for Simcity downloads and I found the STEX, I browsed around and discovered incredible buildings like the Petronas Towers and the incredible amount of NDEX material (I was into the skyscrapers at the time). I originally joined just for that, but I have expanded my role here and I am going to expand even more. I am planning to take up bating and modding buildings (growables etc) I'll need help but I'm confident that this great community will have the answers to my questions.
(I hit my 100 post today!, this one should make 101!)49.gif

The SimCity forums I used to hang out at all died...including my own.

Plus, it's summer and I need something to pass the time.

Well, I used to hang around SimCity Central alot, and there was a little bit of a rivalry between SCC and ST. Then I left SCC...I won't go into details why...but now I know they were wrong about this place.

I'm glad I joined.

I joined ST to meet others who played Simcity and learn about different strategies of building.  I also joined to gain access to the STEX 29.gif

I joined Simtropolis througth Sim City.com on which I had a look at the fan websites pu there. I first visited Sim City Empire and Sim City Central of which I looked around mainley at there city journal section's. I then found a link to this site and prefered the layout, attitude and even cj's! I joined Simtroplis after about a month of lurking around the cj section so I could comment on them. I eventually explored the rest of Simtropolis and started partisipating in the other areas such as the Simtropolis Community and the rest of the Sim City catalogue's as well as STEX. I then joined MOTM and visted live chat occasionaley. A while after that is where I am now.

I joined Simtropolis on 9/8/2004, I found the website under the Simcity Links Page, ever since that day I have been on the website every day!.

I mainly joined to have access to the STEX, which inspired me to start B.A.Ting.

Must remind myself to have a look at simtropolis in the past (I use the web back machine on archive.org)

This is the best games fansite I have ever seen and possibly the biggest on the internet.

Found it through a link on SimCity.com, browsed, but didn't register. Also found SCC at the same time. I read an interesting post at SCC about modding the game, but by the time I went to post a reply, it was down. So I came here, and posted my idea here, and the Modd Squad was born.

i was looking for some mods for SC4 so i googled simcity 4 mods in and simtropolis came up, with a few others.  Simtropolis was the best one i thought, and i found some great things that i was looking for, things that should have been made into the game in the first place: rail-subway trans, rail-el trans, NAM...everyone has done an awesome job on their work.  GO simtropolis!

I joined to learn how to play the game to the max..bought the book, and still had questions. The more I kept coming back for answers, the more I realized I didnt know! Then I started downloading, and havent stopped. Trouble is, I still feel like a $%&^!, because every time I got comfortable, something new came along, like the NAM, the pond & stream kits, the airports, the canal sets, the BSC reward chains, sooo  I come visit every day, learn something new every day, experiment with my new downloads, and one of these days, maybe  I'll get brave enough to try the modding/batting. Anyway, I cant thank the members enough for all the information, new ideas, creative thinking, modds and bats and just general goofiness sometimes. gotta love those bunnies and duckies!!

Back in my RCT days I got hooked on the forums.  While playing SC3k, I always hung out at Freeland.  When SC4 came out, I found a link to ST, browsed for a while, and was hooked.  Joined the day I brought SC4 home (although with a different account).
