I figured out how to export my region as a HTML and upload it to a server. You can now explore it full size.

You can try it here but it will take a moment to load. You will need to scroll both vertically and horizontally to pan.

You can click on each city tile to see stats. You can also switch to transport view. Example:

Looks good! I've had a fly around and even found some farms. *:)

That looks like years and years of work you've put into it.

I had to go look up my comment on their file to remind me how to scroll. (Press and hold the mouse wheel down then pan around whichever way.)

It's also worth noting that this region had just reached 2.8 million inhabitants, putting it firmly as my most populous SC4 region to date!

It's fantastic!! *

How many cities there are in this region?

I ask this because I created a big region with 256 cities, but it is a slow to load. I didn't want to reduce it and at the same time I'm worried about having problems in the future, when it is more than 50% filled. :uhm:

How being your experience with this region?

The size of the region does not affects the overall performance. So it does not really matter how big the region is. What is really important is the size of the tile in which you play, since in larger tiles there are more props and more elements to load, and this does affect performance. Generally speaking, small tile cities are much more fluid than large tile cities.

The only thing that you will notice when it comes to a big region with so many tiles is that game will need some more time to display the region view.

How being your experience with this region?

The Kingdom of Borike has a dimension of 68 x 60 small cities, nominally equivalent to 17 X 15 large cities (255 cities). Now, considering the region also contains some medium-sized cities, and also contains a good amount of water around it (let's say 20%). Gonna estimate 220 buildable cities, right now I have 85 named cities.

As for what my experience with this region has been...

  • Went with a more road-centric design, partly as a throwback to one of my classic formative regions, Río Platino, which was from around 2012-2013. Ten years later, this region honors its style while incorporating a vast increase in my mastery of the game.
  • The region contains my 1st and 2nd most populous cities to date, those would be Jaicoa (403,000 inhabitants, peaked at 428,000 inhabitants) and Samaná (324,000 inhabitants). Decided to not grow these more because I love their current look and want to develop the rest of the region accordingly.
  • I think this region shows the ideal combination of terrain mods to attain my signature humid tropical island climate, making it instantly recognizable among countless other players' styles. I've managed to create this signature combination out of middle-of-the-road terrain mod components, but it never ceases to impress.
  • I've been enjoying more the southern coast of the main landmass because of its more intricate topography, so I've been dedicating more effort to terraforming the center and the north coast to make the region more appealing for my play style.
  • The region also holds a special place as one of the field testing sites of development for the Network Addon Mod, most notably NAM 42's introduction of the 3-level crossing pieces, FLEX neighbor connections and FLEX width transitions  for the RealHighway, NAM 43 and 44 introducing a vast expansion of the FLEX turning lanes, NAM 45 with the debut of the Pedestrian Revolution Mod's mid-block crosswalks and the latest version of the Traffic Simulator, countless bridges in the NAM 40s, and various other ongoing development projects.
  • And the region is also characterized by its glamorous coastal sites, including marinas, beaches, waterfronts, coastal lagoons and scenic cliffs!

Admittedly, the region does already feel somewhat stale for me, so I'm still debating whether to pause its progress to start something different, or reinvent my playstyle with it to make it feel fresh again.

Thanks to share your experiences and sensations. That's cool you have a strong appreciation to this region. I believe will happen the same with me after some couple years working in my mega region. *

Posting here but only cause I don't know where to actually post this (do we not have a "Show Us Your Discoveries" or "Show Us Your Tips/Tricks" thread?)

67018907913ba_EmptyMayor.jpg.f2f0097ef53d56debafbef80c844ecd3.jpg

In Windows, if you type Alt + 0128 you get a "blank character" (basically a space), that's recognized as a "letter". Since it's viewed that way in Windows, I thought I'd try it out in the game to see what would happen. So I tested it and it worked!! So if you've ever wanted to just name a city without a mayor, use that and you can have just a city name.

This particular region is really old (notice the name as it came about before Rush Hour), and so the Terrain Tutorial bugged out at some point and I haven't replaced it yet. So that's where I decided to use the empty tile as a test.

If you're having trouble activating the special character: press and hold `Alt` while typing in the numbers (preferably from the keypad as it's faster). Then after the last number is pressed, release the `Alt` key (either one btw), and it'll accept the manually typed character.

That said, feel free to use other numbers if you're looking for really fancy names, but from my understanding, SC4 has issues with some characters and so they may not show up properly as a result.

Part of me wants to share my region, but I kinda can't because I elected to do my CJ with a fog-of-war type of mechanic, where I only reveal what the settlers see.

I'm just waiting on the lil sims inventing GPS satellites.

Well, you kinda could. Show the latest region view with the fog and a few selected closer views which have been revealed. Just be sure to use mostly new pics so it doesn't count as double dipping. (Linking in one or two now and then to illustrate a point is fine, we just frown on posting the exact same shots in multiple places.)

Then too you could add a linky to your CJ for peeps who'd then like to see more. *;)

I tried to attach pictures with Imgur link but it won't work. Any tips?

I'm sure it can be done because I've seen other peeps use imgur. However, we actually prefer using ST's server to host your images so when imgur goes the way of Photoborket and ImageShack we won't be left with big empty holes where the pics used to be. *;)

And cool region. I like the expansion over the years.

At least there's a tile where a bridge be built to connect the two sides of the region ! Except create artificial islands. Delta like this is great for a massive city and harbour area and marine environment, much  !

Since I live in Edmonton, I'm basing my new region off of the Edmonton Metro Region! As Alberta uses the DLS system (Dominion Land Survey), I am trying to recreate a similar system in my region. I am finding this is leading to realistic expansion, something I have always struggled with in sc4. IRL example photo provided

Nice start and welcome back to sc4!

Your region Edmonton, reminded me that long time ago, on 2007 or so, there where a City Journal that recreates Edmonton (don't remember either at Simtropolis or Sc4Devotion). It was a nice recreation. I just tried to find it but I was unsuccessful.
