I think that to really decide on a place to live(or like) you must at least visit one city, town, village and part of the countyrside on all continents(besides Antartica). From what i'm told Beuno Aries- Argentina-(is that how you spell it?) is nice. It is supposedly very cosmopolitan and european. I have been to France, UK, Ireland, Indonesia, few pacific islands and USA and live in Australia. I will be visiting Latin America next year. From my travels i have two places for home.

Sydney, Australia- It's where i'm from, everyone likes their hometown. Sure it has its problems but doesn't everyone?But i'd prefer living on the north side.

Dublin, Ireland. I really love Dublin's cosmopolitan life. It's where my family is from. It is a beautiful city. Very much a jewel in the the crown of Europe.

I'd love to visit Canada, i love your liberalism! Spain and Italy as well. Austria is good.

I have only been to LA and Las Vegas in USA, although i did not like it very much i can't pass judgement on it has a whole. A country as varied as USA can't be judge on two cities.

For me Australia will always be home, "no matter how far that i roam, i still call Australia home"

Also don't exclude Asia, i think it is a thriving place full of unique culture. I would love to visit Tokyo.

I would love to stay in Canada, but not in Ottawa/Gatineau. Toronto would be a very nice place to go live. Quebec City would aslo be a lovely place, with all the snow they get. I love snow!

Maybe Vancouver or Calgary aswell, because they are right beside the mountains, and I love snowboarding.

I wouldn't want to go to the United States, esoecially in the south where it gets really hot in the summer. There is only one city I wouldn't mind living in so far, since I went there on vacation and it's beautifull, and that's San Diego.

Europe might also be a nice choice. I wouldn't really want to go to th UK, but France would be nice (although I'm from Quebec, so they might not like me ). Also somewhere along the mediteranian would be nice, like Grece or Italy.

Hey, I quit like Germany !!! Nice standard of living and polite people, not like here in France !

the ideal to me city to me would have :

There is no place like home.....

I live on the dutch countryside in 'the green heart' .... it's green, it's flat, there are windmills, it smells like cows, criminality is very very low, traffic is ok (as long as you stay away from Rotterdam, Gouda or Utrecht), my neighbours are very friendly, the chicks are hot (did I just say that out loud?), perfect place to ride your bycicle or steer your motorbike over the curvy dykes, there is water in abundance, there is no smog, no fog of war (?), hardly any noise at night, tourists are funny, nature is great, I can't think of a reason to leave ... and no reason at all to leave Europe.... except vacations of course!

It is worse than all you can imagine !!!!

the drivers in Paris and suburbs behave really stupidly ! I assume this is only a matter of "having balls or not". Courteousness and respect are for sissies though it would solve a lot of problems.

About traffic signs, there are too many in Paris and it is proved to be a major cause of accidents as drivers get bewildered trying to check them all. And the directions are just terrible, not in the city of Paris but in the suburbs. If you get strayed in one of these cities, no problem to go to the primary school or to the theatre, but there are no directions at all to the towns nearby... In fact, once you've found your way, then only you get directions. This is France !

I chose 4 Europe, it's a very nice place to live. Mostly I prefer Belgium!

Does any of you prefer Belgium to?

1) It's the most central country & head of Europe.

2) It has big cities but also nice residential towns & countrysides.

3) There are a lot of old buildings, with the authentic architecture, but from now on everything is starting to get modern -> houses, shops..

4) It's the number 6 richest country of Europe.

i guess traffic is pretty bad everywhere in southern europe.

we lived in belgium for 6 years, and in the beginning our family, especially my mum was terrified of the way people drive down there.

yellow light basicly means "floor it, u can still make it thru these greens", not stop as it does elsewhere.

when i was about 9, i remember seeing a convertible driving on the freeway with the roof down and little children jumping in the back seat.

we were driving about 150 and the convertible was just beside us on the other lane.

johnwinston mentioned that parisian drivers get confused of all the signs, that's totally true.

i remember seeing a sign in france that had two arrows in the same direction.

the upper one said "Toutes directions" (all directions) and the one below pointed in the same direction and had the text "Autres directions" (other directions).

pretty confusing, eh?

now we live in finland and i gotta say, sometimes i wish i could get back to belgium or any other southern european country cause sometimes it's actually funny to see people going nuts in traffic. that doesn't happen much around here.

well im originally from Latvia , i live in a town called Ventspils, 50 000 inhabitants, the 3rd bigest port in europe , so a real doodoohole, but i like it here , for the most people communist tennements or prefabs are ugly and cold, but i think it has kinda a charm , there's a park in front of the door , beutiful panorama over the city , for the upper floors, i perhaps would hate living in a american suburb,i simply love living in east europe- no city has suburbs , very very much parks , 100 of oportunities to find friends,everithing is a cat's jump away from your home,

. oh yea, where was i , my dream residence would be the Latvias Capital - Riga, sadly there are coming horny, fat richers from 1st world country every day(so a lil prob with prost's) otherwise the beutyfyllest and most charming city of northeast europe ,My other dream city is Budapest , wery very beutiful city, i could live in every east european city , i love it , just like that song from the southpark episode - ''christmas in canada" but about east europe- there's no europe like east europe , its the best europe in the land, and the other europe, is a bullsh*t europe , if you live there for a day you understand jk

I live in Florida and I have to say that the quality of life in the U.S. is unmatched anywhere. Here, you can get a great job, good benefits, and not have to give every last penny you make to the government to pay for a socialist "house of cards" economy. Florida is especially nice for several reasons. 1. The weather, duh! 2. The beaches, I live within 10 minutes of 2 of the top 10 beaches in the U.S. 3. NO state income tax. If you don't like paying out the you know what in taxes, definitely move here. Just a word of caution about moving to Florida... DO NOT move to the following counties... Miami-Dade (Miami), Broward (Ft. Lauderdale), Palm Beach (West Palm Bch), or Martin (Stuart). Floridians are generally very nice, but you can't get too close to southeast Florida. There's too many ex-New Yorkers and they are not the nicest people in the world. And they definitely do not know the meaning of "Southern Hospitality". Instead, head over to the West coast, specifically St. Petersburg or Tampa. Now this is what I'm talking about:

Just too used to it, I guess. Although I wouldn't mind living in New England, the US West Coast, New Zealand or Aussie, but eh, it's just not the same.. Except for Philadelphia. I really liked that city, but that's cuz it reminded me of Europe the most..

You shouldn't take pride in the fact that you don't pay state income taxes in Florida. It's part of the reason your state has one of the worst education systems in the country.  Florida has allot of jobs, this is true.  Businesses from around the country move their jobs there because there are no labor unions (prepare to have no say in anything related to your job lol) and they don't have to pay people as much because it's cheap to live in Florida. And the quality of life may be good for you, but there is an insane amount of poverty and suffering in the United States, that only exists because we don't have enough socialist-like programs to end it. We have plenty of cash to do so.

Don't get me wrong, I love Florida. I was raised there (but not born there - 1,000 people a day move to Florida!). I am heading back there in August to pursue a college education at the University of Tampa (this may seem contrary to my previous comment, but it's a private school so it may be safe from the horrible education system). Florida is extremely varied (geographically speaking), and being the fourth-largest state by population, it is very diverse and it's an exciting place to be. It would be my favorite place I've ever been, but New York City will always stay in my heart as the most electrifying place I've ever been. I may move there after college, but it's cold up here, so maybe not lol

On another note, I live in Upstate New York, and it's not that bad. I really hate the cold though... New York is the highest-taxed state in the country (that just happened this year). But housing is generally priced low, and we have good social programs and an awesome education system with the best public university system in the country. And New York City is just amazing. It's the most incredible place I've ever been (for now - I've never been outside North America).

I would love to see Spain. I've always been fascinated with it: the language, history, the country itself. Greece, Israel, and Australia interest me as well, and I plan on visiting them all throughout my life.

That is NOT true. Americans don't need a passport to visit Mexico and Canada. (not sure about other countries)

Also keep in mind that the USA is a large land mass and provides plenty of diverse domestic travel opportunities. Don't forget about Alaska and Hawaii. Then there is even the US Territories...don't forget about those! Guam, Puerto Rico, Virigin Islands, American Samoa, etc., etc (even the U.S. Pacific Island Refuges...). Maybe even a visit to Diego Garcia (okay, only if you're in the military...well that is a British territory anyway).
