Hmm.. well, at least as far as Europe is concerned, I have to admit that I have not seen a pay phone being used for at least a few years now.. I can see how some may find them useful, but considering mobile phone penetration is more or less 100% all over Europe.. well, sooner or later the costs will be greater than the profits for telecoms and we're going to have to say goodbye to them..

Me having some "deep thoughts" in the Azores..

Sorry, I just had to let that out but it does bug me when people don't see the difference between calorie and Calorie (kilocalorie)quote> Lol, that was worse than Grammar Nazism..

Well, I have to admit I think Europe is the best place for me. Just too used to it, I guess. Although I wouldn't mind living in New England, the US West Coast, New Zealand or Aussie, but eh, it's just not the same.. Except for Philadelphia. I really liked that city, but that's cuz it reminded me of Europe the most.. -
Whoa, whoa, people, Montenegro is NOT part of the EU and won't be for the next 10 years for sure. Neither was Serbia-Montenegro. Montenegro uses the euro much like Kosovo does. They aren't part of the eurozone, they just use it because of its stability, much like some island nations use the American dollar. That doesn't mean they actually have any power over the currency, they have to "import" it. Anyway, Montenegro declared independence tonight, and there won't be any war, since Serbia has commited itself to allow Montenegro to secede if the Yes bloc manages to gather more than 55% of the votes, and they did. However, since the country dropped the name Yugoslavia in 2003 and reorganized itself into a union between two countries Serbia and Montenegro, these countries were already pretty much separate, so this dissolvement won't be too tough. Oh, also, only Montenegrins were allowed to vote. So now every former republic of Yugoslavia has become an independent country and Yugoslavia finally ceased to exist. However, there is still a problem that needs to be resolved in the region, and that's Kosovo. And I am confident Serbia will not let go of Kosovo as easily. After all, they almost cut the diplomatic ties with Slovenia after our President said that the best option for Kosovo is independence.

Originally posted by: MayorTim If you want the REAL facts, go to your local community chuch, and ask its pastor what parts of the book are fact and which are fiction.quote> I agree with you that too many people take this book as pure fact, when it's not, although it's tempting to be understood that way. However, what you're suggesting is like asking Microsoft which is better: the Xbox or the PlayStation. I think we all know the answer. Anyway, I did watch the film and read the book. The book itself was entertaining and I have to say as a work of fiction I like it a lot. Of course, it can't be considered an academic text, and noone said it is. The movie, however.. Well, I wasn't as impressed by it as by the book. First of all, the storyline was adapted. Okay, maybe it was for clarity's sake, however many modifications appeared to only exist to make the film as politically correct as possible. But that wasn't the worst. The worst was that the movie itself was simply boring. Okay, so maybe I'm just not that sensitive to stuff like this, or I already knew what was going to happen because I read the book. Then again, it was amusing seeing the Smart meandring past cars and pedestrians while driving in reverse on the narrow streets of Paris.. Meg: Good point, however I have to admit that the Church's reaction to the book reminds me of their treatment of "heretics" in the Middle Ages..

MSN, but I also have Skype and Google Talk installed. I use MSN all the time, and sometimes Skype (I prefer the audio over Skype than over MSN), and I never use Google Talk.
