2nd table of contents

Initial Information:

This CJ will start with the terraforming of the region, with pictures of the major landforms and features. Once that is done, I will begin building the city, and within that time I will have occasional storylines, but the main story section would occur until once most of the city is built.

You can read the next to sections if you want, otherwise skip down to the pictures.

General information about the area:

Galesfe City is located where the Yanar River empties into the Melemon Ocean, in the Province of Nerone, in the far western region of the Republic of Myon. It is near the border between the Republic of Myon and Zcheilau, and the border is located within some of the more rugged parts of the Yanar Mountains.

Galesfe City is in a semi-tropical oceanic climate where the temperature ranges from around 60F (15.5C) in the winter to around 80F (26.5C) Rain is very common year-round, and there is the occasional threat of landslides in the mountains because of it. Hurricanes occasionally hit the coastline in the area, but so far Galesfe City has escaped a direct hit. (Hurricane Chuck, a category 2, made landfall where Galesfe City is now, but it was before the city was built.) The biggest threat would be from a "super-cane", which on Myon is considered to be any hurricane with winds over 180MPH (290kph). Because of the circumstances needed for their formation, they are very rare, with only 2 being recorded in the last 150 years. (Hurricane Alex, in 0018AL, and Hurricane Gretchen, in 0092AL)

Because of these threats, as well as a slight possibility of earthquakes (centered in the Amiton Mountains), the buildings are designed to take larger forces than the buildings in the inland regions of the country, with the buildings able to take continuous high wind speed and shaking, but only to a point...

The main languages in the area are English and Zukish {Zûnthåmê}, and much of the population in the area is bilingual.

Background:

The year is 0150AL, and the Republic of Myon has undergone many changes since my other CJ left off. The border between Myon and Imnatazhüthken (the Zuke Country) from al'Sahra' to New Amsterdam has been finally decided, and now lies along a small mountain range. Galaenther Island has become a province, Myon gained a new territory in the southern Northlands to discourage Granaran expansion into the area, the Thulan Territory shrunk with the addition of 4 new provinces and a Special Administrative Region, and New Amsterdam has become a SAR of its own.

The first major test of the wapbervklex drive to the star KLX-2 resulted in the discovery of a new solar system, the Mufris System, as well as a new habitable planet, Muphrid, inhabited by the Muphridians. The explorers were shocked when they first discovered the Muphridians, because of their similarity to the Zukes, the only main differences they could find were the absence of the feet-jets zukes had, as well as a small horn-like protrusion coming out of the back of the head, pointing downward. They spoke a language that a first appeared to be English, but when they saw their writing, it was recognized as a variant of Granaran, with its own letters for B and R instead of the Latin versions.

An examination of their history showed that they were not from the planet Muphrid, instead they seemed to be the result of an advanced experiment conducted by some other alien species, and left to grow on their own. They had reached Earth long before the Terrans or Myonians did, and they seemed to be the source of the Granurian language on Myon, and they were the second alien species involved in the Terran's development. Soon after their discovery, trade opened up between Muphrid and Myon, later spreading to the nearby solar systems and planets as well.

Later on, at around 0117AL, an exploration to another nearby star system, JEK-7, identified a 5th alien species, the Zevinowa'ti (singular: Zevinowa). Unlike the Muphridians, they were like nothing the exploration party had ever seen, with a body resembling the letter 'S' when viewed from the right. They had 2 pairs of legs at the bottom of the 'S', and 2 pairs of arms coming from the bottom front curve, and another, smaller pair coming out of the upper back curve. Their head was on the top end of the 'S', and they had a mouth located in the center, with 3 eyes located in a triangle shape around the edge, and 3 ears located similarly, only rotated around 180 degrees from the eyes. They have no nose, and instead use their mouth to smell. They are very flexible, because they have no real skeletal system, just semi-rigid cords of tissue located throughout their body.

They spoke an entirely new language, Zevino'shoma, what was written using an abugida, a writing system where each letter represents a consonant with an vowel immediately following it. Unlike Zukish or English, Zevino'shoma has a easy to understand pronunciation, with only one sound for each vowel component. Zevino'shoma became common in businesses in Myon and elsewhere, but overall remained uncommon in the general public, except within groups of Zevinowa'ti that immigrated to the planet and mainly settled in major cities. Unlike the Zukes, Gremlins, and Muphridians, however, the Zevinowa'ti immigrants kept their original lettering system instead of switching to the Latin system. It has become quite common in the north side of Galesfe City, as well as other cities, however, for it to be recognized by internal businesses, and News Report Myon now has a Zevino'shoma edition as well as its previous Zukish, Spanish and English editions.

The population has increased rapidly, from both immigration from other countries on Myon, as well as immigrations from other planets like Vinawasho (the Zevinowa'ti's home planet) and Muphrid, as well as Terra, Earth, and other human-inhabited planets, and is currently at around 135 million.

And now, the beginning of the CJ:

Development most likely will start next update, and terraforming will continue in the background unless you want to see more of it. Also, don't expect updates to be this frequent, but they most likely will be more frequent than the Planet Myon for now. (About 2 per week)

    galesfecentralterr1tk7.jpg

Just another mountain, right? No, this is Mt. Jamig, located away from the other mountains right in the middle of where the city will be located. It will remain much like it is in the picture, with buildings and parks surrounding it.

    galesfecentralterr2db9.jpg

A zoomed out view of Mt. Jamig. It is near the borderline between 2 different soil types, and inland it is more grassy, with much less trees.

    galesfecentralterr3se3.jpg

Flat land view of the dividing line.

    galesfecentralterr4ge4.jpg

A common landscape within the plains on both sides of the Yanar River.

    galesfecentralterr5hj4.jpg

This is one of the largest mountains in the region, located just beyond the border in Zchielau, you can see the effects of the landslides that can happen in the region during heavy rains.

Many different types of trees can be found in the mountains, making a very varied landscape that attracts thousands of tourists each year.

Good. I would suggest a concentric layout, with a mountain loop road, four main roads with MT lines (the Compass Quartet), and R/C mix communities. I/Ir should be farther away to reduce pollution where it matters.

    Names:

    -Waller Creek

    -Border Expressway

    -Leech Heights

    -Qirrix Center

    -Cathedral Railroad

    -Darmok Hill Railroad

Some are "leeched" from other CJs, others leeched from usernames, and yet others from my mind.
