blahdy, I guess the best place for looking for help is the BAT general discussion forum, since there are some people who seem to have a working BAT4Max setup. I would be a pity if your wonderful models can't get rendered and never see the game after all... I'll see what I can do regarding the modding stuff, but pathing and the like has to be done by someone else. My expertise definitely lies in a good presentation of the lots in the game, such as custom icons, menu text and the like.

I have downloaded the 3 ramps that are offered on page 1 of this forum. But when I try to connect a road to them I get a white gap between the road and the ramp. This doesn't happen with the one-way road & ramp, just with the others. I don't see this in

any of the pictures on this forum. Is this a "fix" in progress or is there something that I can do about this myself?

One-way roads only connect to the Big Dig Ramps.  The only exception is the GHW transition lot.  That can only have the GHW connect to it.

You can drive into the tunnel, but that is it.  Once you get to the end of the Big Dig Puzzle piece, your car will disappear and if you're on a mission, you'll lose.

WOW!   I figured it out - quite involved for a newbie but I did it!

See where the white tiled area is inbetween the road and the tunnel?

I don't see this in any of blahdy's pictures.

What can I do?

I believe only one-way roads can be connected to that tunnel since its a one-way ramp. Might I suggest drawing a one way road to that ramp?

Well than are they all one-way tunnels?

I thought that this one was two-way because it didn't have any arrows on it.

Are there any two-way tunnels?

the only 2 way tunnel is the ground highway to bigdig transition. otherwise all the roads are one way

Ok. Thanks

I have also noticed that alot of the pictures on this forum

are replaced with an x in a box.

Anything I can do about that?

No, there is nothing you can do about that.  When you see a Red "X" in a box, that means the image isn't posted online anymore.  It's not a problem on your end at all.  It's just the person who posted the image originally decide to take it down for several possible reasons.  The most likely one IMO, would be that they were running out of file space on the account / server, and needed to delete some of the older images.

Now, the OT ("off topic" if you didn't know what that meant c2004 3.gif 2.gif) part has been handle, so let's get back on topic. 1.gif

c2004/rickmastfan:  yea, i deleted some old pics off the server, because the big-dig pictures folder alone is in excess of 200MB:

    > pwd

    /usr/home/blahdy/public_html/stex/big-dig-tunnel-portal

As promised long time ago, elevated rail -> subway transition is being worked on, slowly...

It seems a lot of people complain about the short roller-coaster styled 4-tile approach on default Maxis-provided el-rail->subway transition lot.  So, the Big Dig El-Rail->Subway transition is about 20 tiles long.  Satellite picture was used to exactly scale to SC4 tile dimensions, and it came to 18-20 tiles long just about for Green Line tunnel portal near Science Park/Leverett Circle.

    Basic conceptual model:

    lcsp4.jpg

Rails themselves have not been modelled yet, just the via-duct is.  The rail way goes on the giant long "S" curve.  It's particularly more difficult than other models, because the el-rail's abutment partially sits on top of Big Dig highway ramp LC-S to the right.

    Tunnel approach on el-rail descent:

Wooooaaaahhhh! One question, though. Won't the subway for the El-rail and the subway for the ramp get mixed up there?

    Lotta pageflips there. 3.gif

simzebu:  the highway ramp will need to go thru something other than subway this time, most likely Tarkus' underground RHW.  If that works as planned, it would make this ramp a first intermodal transit converter.

    New Update:

Thanks to Microsoft Live Local! for updated satellite pics 2.gif  You can see that the model traces along the satellite picture in the background:

Touch-down landing area / abutment for elevated rail viaduct is now completed.  As stated before, the Leverett Connector ramp is unique in that, elevated rail's abutment sits on top of big dig highway ramp below.    The Big Dig highway ramp (ramp LC-S) immediately turns into a sharp left curve, crossing underneath and holding up the elevated rail's approach section to subway tunnel.

Approach to subway tunnel from elevated rail:

    lcsp9.jpg

Base structure for subway tunnel is completed.  Electric service needs to be installed later, that's probably going to be the hardest part for this model.
