That looks about right, rubik. Here is a page with some World Trade Center facts and information, as well as a comparison of the scale of the trade center to the Empire State Building and other structures.

Ok a quick question.  Would you rather have the steel darker as seen by an overhead view .  Or would you like it nice and shiny as seen by a street view .  Darker would be more realistic but shiny is what we all remember because we rarely saw it from the top down.

I don't think either pic does the building justice. I think it should be somewhere between the dark and the light....a tone that allows you to see the details without washing them out. Based on how the BAT renders, though, I think dark would be a bad thing....the shadowed side of the building would probably end up black, so a lighter color would be best.

I agree with DarkMatter...somewhere in-between or light might be best. That was one aspect of the original towers; they were a barometer for the weather, and seemed to change color depending.

WOW rubik3, the detail you're putting into this project is ridiculous (I mean that in a very good way 9.gif)
I am so looking forward to having those towers in my city.

One question...any idea what download size we might be looking at?? I don't care since I got broadbrain..lol (Aqua Team Hunger Force reference)..just curious.

oops..forgot to vote...lighter..but goodness, it will be amazing either way.

Judging by your previous scale photo rubik3, I would vote the lighter shade. It would bring out more of your detailed work, and more people remember them as shiny or a lighter shade I think. Just my opinion though.. 2.gif

Yeah, I definitely think a lighter shade. I remember the buildings as beening silvery and shiny on a clear day....and in the evening, they always had that shimmering orange shade as the sun set. I can't ever recall seeing them dark, except at night, of course. 2.gif

Here's a pic of the in between shade.  Lighter, darker, or good as is?  Don't mind the lack of detail...it was a draft render.

As for the download size i'm going to guess somewhere in between 2 and 3 meg for each tower.

They were beautiful up close at night. If you have a chance, see The Wiz (Wizard of Oz remake), in which the trade center serves as the Emerald City, and there are wonderful night shots of the plaza and the towers.

That's a nice shade, rubik. If you change it further I would say go a bit lighter, but that looks just fine. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

If the building looks that dull on a higher quality, it DEFINITELY needs some shine. Its much too dull.

Hmm, the latest pic of the WTC looks dull, I think the earlier pic from today looks better.

Well it sure is coming along. I like the lighter shade, but I agree with DM that it needs to have a shine to it if that is possible. Frankly, I wouldn't care either way since it looks SO good right now as is.

Well I pumped up the specular level to about 200 and this is the result.  Too bad you can't really get true shine with the current renderer.

That looks good. Fortunately, you can update the lot after its release as you see fit...although you'll probably be ready to be done for good once it is released. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>

To me that is to shiny. Would it be to much to ask to make its shine in the middle of what it is now, which looks like the paint was mixed with silver dust and the extreamly dull gray it used to be? I think that would be perfect!

I don;t think the draft renderer is doing it justice. You loose all the finer highlights on draft, and finer highlights are what make a highlight a highlight.

I think it would be best to have the buildings in their lighter color. They are so large, that having them in a dark color would make them seem even more unfriendly than their shape already does. And the lighter shade looks more inviting and 'new' as it was in the '70s. 1.gif

Ok I think i'm finally done with tower 2.  I toned down the specular level a tad and I think I've found just the right shade.  Don't mind the subfloor underneath the entry as it won't be visible in the final lot.  Now to finish up tower 1.
