    I got the coal mine to grow last night.  I vlove the lot, though am going to spruce up the query a little I think. Give me a couple days and this should be uploaded.

    Hi,

    First off:
    Brilliant stuff there, SG! 44.gif
    You make wonderful additions to the game! Maxis should hire you (if they haven't already 3.gif )

    Second:
    I've been fidgeting around with the canal-pieces, because they were cluttering up my parks-menu.

    Now the Occupation-groups were
    * civic
    * parks

    I've changed this into building: water transit.

    Now my question: What is occupantgroup: civic?
    Is it necessary and should I leave it, or is it okay to remove the enrty together with the park-entry?

    I didn't see any problems in the game. And I must admit, it's a lot nicer in the water transit menu, imho.

    SG, somewhere I read that there was a transition piece available from PEGs canals to yours made I think by BarbyW is this true and where could I find it? BTW the canal tunnel is awesome and simpler than terracing using canal locks to move through mountains. Will there be a coal loading wharf for the canals in the future? Thanks for all the great lots!

    Hey SG...After seeing your coal mine BAT and remember my adventurous hikes in the West Virginian woods...I thought it would be cool if you did an abandoned coal mine shaft...it could be hidden by the trees, and could be basically attached to a mountain....it would be really cool.

    Coal Loading dock... dang it, you people have got to stop giving me new ideas. lol...

    The lot you are referring to isn't actually a lot, it's a method of using existing lots.  I started it, showed it to Barby, and others have done the same.  Simple start a bridge on one side of a road, and finish it on the other side with a bridge type piece from the other set.  Another option is to make the ends further apart, so the canal don't show exactly next to each other.  Like a road with 2 deep commercial on it.  Then on either side of that you have canals end into a pipe or bridge type piece.

    Next time I am in game, I'll snap a picture of how I did it, and post it here.

    The Iron mine is on temporary hold.  I got it about 50% done, and am just sitting back and waiting for the other 50% to form in my head... 19.gif18.gif  Might be tonight, might be next week.

    EDIT : Barby shows it in her thread :

    Again - me with ideas and no BAT. Anyway, you are quite right. Perhaps just take that tunnel entrance and the admin building. The admin would have the windows missing and the entrance covered up (perhaps with a hole where the kids go in). The rest would be trees. How cool of an idea.

    I need to play so I can see if I can get my mine to grow...

    FYI, I played a bit tonite with a coal wharf idea for the canal set.  After about 3 hours, and one complete start over, I think I have a design that I like.  May even make a small set of wharf lots using this crane.  I'll see how this one turns out first.

    Always fun to watch this stuff develop.

    PS - Anyone using the coal mine, make sure you have water hooked up. Mine went abandoned! Darn! 48.gif

    Hey SG I love your works, they add so much to the game its incredible. I can't wait to see what you come out with in the future. I have a question regarding one of your farm lots. It involves some altering/modding of it that I'd like to attempt at least, and I figure since it was you who created the lot, I'd ask you. Regarding you farm sets, specifically the wheat farm, I was wondering how to go about changing the building stage to say a stage 3 so that in some circumstances it grows more often. Also on a side note, how would I go about creating new farms for your other fields that you created?? This one has really stumped me, to be able to create a farm that spawns the corresponding typeof fields lot to be grown around it. I hope you can help me out with this. I know that your on an industrial kick these days, so I figured I'd give it a shot and ask. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanx again for all the great BATs and lots you've created.

    CS.

    the farm fields are added in the building exemplar, a property to the effect of fields  I haven't looked in quite a while, so forget the actual name.  You add the IIDs (Instance ID) of the field lots you want to appear.

    As to making new field lots, just make it in the lot editor; choose any existing field lot with comparible properties to what you want, change the props to what you want, and do a save as.  You may need to tweak the names and such, but otherwise, it will be a new version of the lot.

    SG,

    You mentioned in the description of this BAT that it replaces the in-game airport.  Does that mean I will no longer be able to place the Maxis-designed airports in my cities, or that I can have an airport but won't need one with this BAT?  I really want to include this Heliport in a city I'm re-doing right now, but I'd hate to not be able to have a nice, big international airport there, too.

    Sorry, what I meant is it CAN replace the in game airport, thanks to Swampers mod.  Generally, custom airports don't register in the game as airports, so the game still wants another one  in a city.  THis one does register, so you can have this alone if you desire.

    It doen't actually replace anything.  All other airport lots are still available.

    Hey, Goober, since your on the topic of coal stuff, have you ever seen one of those special coal train unloaders that takes a string of railcars and turns them UPSIDE DOWN to pour out the coal. those cars have rotating couplers, which are denoted by one end of a coal car being painted red or white(something im sure you've seen). anyways, something crazy like that would be cool for you to do if you want.

    already used the heliport, good to use in a medium sized city which has no space for an airport.

    This co(a/o)l crane is screaming for a release as separate prop in a pack that's yet to come, if you ask me... 3.gif

    Besides, I wanted to pop in to thank you for your industrial stuff. My industrial areas look so much better with buildings like your car factory, the warehousing stuff and some other factories the name of which I've forgotten. Oh, and yesterday, a Flopper Stoppers showed up for the first time. 48.gif I spent some time on the STEX yesterday just to comment and throw around some 10s. Keep going! 44.gif
