About This File

NDS-DD-1002  “Devotion”
Swordfish Class Destroyer
Commissioned by Iris’s Naval Defense Sector in early 2003, the Next-Gen Destroyer Project has yielded the most advanced mobile missile platform in history. Powered by a single fusion reactor, the Swordfish Class Destroyer has no limit on its effective range. The ships are capable of staying away from their home ports for up to one year before needing to take on supplies. With its ability to land HT-10 Skylifters, it is possible for this ship to go its entire operational life without docking.
The ships are very well armed, also. Each ship is outfitted with two (2) Advanced Launch Systems capable of firing either missiles or explosive railgun shells. Additionally, each ship is outfitted with cold-launch VLS tubes capable of firing long range missiles. The ships have two torpedo tubes for undersea warfare.
Defensively, the Swordfish class is quite remarkable. Each ship is outfitted with three (3) Advanced Skyseeker Missile Launchers capable of firing a salvo of six (6) AAM-200 missiles. In addition to advanced undersea defenses, the ship boasts a robust array of CWIS guns. However, it is the fact that the Swordfish Class is stealthed that makes these ships exceptionally hard to target. Despite its considerable dimensions, its radar cross section is that of a commercial fishing vessel.
The ships cost approximately §50,000 each. Budget estimates suggest that the cost of maintaining a single vessel is §750 monthly. Each ship requires a crew of 150 and offers employment to approximately 400 on shore support staff. Currently, the NDS plans to produce five (5) more ships in addition to the two (2) already in service.
This BAT is based off renderings of the US Zumwalt Class destroyer. The zip contains only the model and lot file. To install simply unzip into your MyDocs/Simcity4/Plugins folder.

I cant really tell what the bigger ship looks like. It would be nice to have a zoomed in shot of it also.

Take a look at the DDG-1000, it's about the same, but probably with more panels. Probably a bit thinner and more of a brighter grey. But this is a great model, 4/5!

mrdazza, that's what the actual DD-1000's are going to look like. They're designed to be stealth ships, with everything enclosed to minimize the radar signature.

What sets off this ship and the real life stealth ships is the sharp flat panels that reflect radar in many different directions to actually show a large blob on a radar screen instead of an exact target. These ships are amazing. My dad has taken me down to N.A.S. Norfolk several times to see cruisers and destroyers as well as the super carriers. Even when I see a recreation such as this I am still overwhelmed by the deadliness and technology involved in these. Outstanding recreation. 5 out of 5

A single attack missle can cost more than 1,000,000. I think 50,000 is a little low for the whole ship..
nice mod though.
