About This File
Hadrian's Torch, a large coastal volcano, has been quiet for centuries. The last major eruption occurred in 1217 and devastated the surrounding area. Archaeologists have excavated many dwellings buried in the last eruption and have unearthed the ghostly outlines of those poor souls who were not able to escape the searing heat and ash fall.
Now, almost 800 years later, civilization has returned to the coastal area around Hadrian's Torch and the surrounding land has been heavily developed. Many vulcanologists worry that the torch is not dead -- just sleeping. They have cautioned the public and government officials about the heavy development within the "red zone" -- a circular area approximately 6 to 8 kilometers either side of the volcano's cone -- citing that everything within this zone is subject to being destroyed if the volcano erupts again.
As the "person in charge" of developing this region, here is your chance to change history and keep the red zone lightly developed and populated or, heavily develop it and see what happens when Hadrian's Torch blows its top once again.
The choice is yours...
This map was originally made using Landscape Designer and then heavily modified using PaintShop Pro, v9.1x. There is a fair amount of valley area just in from the coast and the area around the high lake will make for some interesting development -- especially, the area just below the lake on the coast side. I sure hope the water doesn't spill over. If it does, I certainly wouldn't want to be living in the valley below it.
Some of the city tiles will present challenges in building on them if they can be built on at all.As you will see, I try to create my maps with as much realism as I can. Consequently -- just like in real life -- not all areas of the map are equal nor can all areas be developed.
