About This File
STORYLINE: Final plans have been put in place concerning the first colonization of Mars. The Aecheson Crater Field has been picked as the best of all possible sites for the first Mars colony. Named after amatuer astronomer Jonathan Aecheson who discovered the crater field in 1931, the Aecheson Crater Field has a terrain suited for development of living spaces for the colony as well as the potential for precious and exotic mineral extraction from the surrounding land area. With the development and incredible progress made in Planetary Terraforming, it is quite possible that the Aecheson Crater Field area could prove to be the first large-scale terraforming success story for humankind.
The grayscale image for this map was a bit map of beaded water on the hood of a car. I enhanced the image in Paint Shop Pro, v9.01 and used Landscape Designer to check and set the elevation. Enjoy.
Some of the city tiles will present challenges in building on them if they can be built on at all.As you will see, I try to create my maps with as much realism as I can. Consequently -- just like in real life -- not all areas of the map are equal nor can all areas be developed.
