Self Levelling Mono and Elevated Rail Mod  1.0

About This File

This mod allows the laying of FLAT track on both the monorail and Elevated rail networks.

Simply draw your track as normal and the ground will be radicaly raised or lowered accordingly to achieve a flat and level track.

However, In order to take the track over a small hill, without carving through it, lay the tiles a few at a time.

The mod will create an "on ramp" from the lower level to the rise in the hill, and then an "off ramp" down the other side, until it finds relatively flat land again

Be sure to check out my other mods on the STEX

danny_k the purpose of the mod is to make the track as level as possible, as it would be in real life. Elevated rail and monorails do not generally go up steep slopes, they carve through any bumps and raise any land depressions. If you try to take a track over a large hill and down the other side, the mod will keep the approach level and carve its way through

cont .... but if you lay the track a few tiles at a time it WILL build a gentle slope up and over a hill :)

itd be cool to see a monorail or elevate rail tunnel through a mountain. Still though, this mod is worth 8/10.

I think you have one really good modd here. As it's so hard to lay monorail or elevated rail over hills and mountains. BTW is it possible to get them to be built over water, as I have tried to do on so many occasions, but it just won't let me cause it keeps on saying the tracks are not high enough for ferrys to pass underneath.

Like the idea. Where is located in the game? In the transportation menu? There is already an elevated icon. Does yours replaced the Simcity one?

so if laying track through a bumpy city or a city with hills for instance, this mod would destroy surrounding buildings, roads, rails, anything in the leveling process would it not?

Verry innovative! If it can be done with these types of transportation, can it be done with others like highways and avenues? I hope so. Many times highways carve their way through or around the outside of a mountain without tunneling. This has great possibilities.

Admiral, the distance over which the mod raises or lowers the land is not excessive, it builds a very neat bank either side of the elevated or lowered land. It would be advisable to build the monorail BEFORE zoning though, and not to try to build it too near to land already built on. In real life however, buildings are often demolished to make way for transit systems, so in itself, thats more ingame reality!

xilef, this mod is more radical than bones slope mod, and is SPECIFICALY for monorail and elevated rail. This mod will carve through a hillside, bones mod wont. The bones mod requires the use of the ANT tool in the NAM, this mod does it as you lay the track.

Very nice. It'd be great to see it work with ground rail as well, since those trains would travel at much higher speeds (passenger commuting) or weigh 1000 times more (freight) and therefore require EXTREMELY flat or gradually inclining tracks. Well done though! :)
