About This File

Arvordale is a 1537x1537 map that was an old SC3K map I made some years ago. I decided to see if I could open it up with the Landscape Designer, re-size it and render it. To my surprise, it turned out perfectly. With mountains, rivers, a lake and flatlands, Arvordale will make a good map to build your cities on. Arvordale was configured for 36 large cities, but feel free to change the configuration to your liking. Any comments or suggestions would be welcomed. Enjoy!

EDIT JULY 28, 2006 -  I added mountains along the western edge along with varied elevation levels throughout the region.

Instructions (very important note below, courtesy of MallowThe Cloud):

You'll need Mallow's plugins mod [download here] to render this map properly.

1) Place the 500m.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins...

2) Create a new folder called Arvordale in your ...My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory.

3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder

4) Download the ArvordaleV2.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to.

5) Run your SimCity 4 game

6) Open the Arvordale Region

7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box

8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded ArvordaleV2.jpg to, find "ArvordaleV2.jpg", and open this file.

9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between20 and50 minutes.

10) Have fun!

I have two other terrain generators that I made the sc3k maps with and kept those greyscale 257x257 maps I used for the game. All I did was load them up in Landscape Designer and re-sized them, which is probably why some of the sc3k maps seem kinda plain.

One is called Cyberwyre which is no longer available for download [at least I haven't been able to find it again] and the other was just simply called SC3K fractural terrain generator or something along that line. I haven't been able to find that one either.

Love the update! Much better than the original. Are you planning to update any of your other maps?
