The Fox River, named after the abundance of wildlife, meets the oceanthrough plateau and mountain. Because of its microclimate, the plateausituated just west of the river melts earlier than other places in thearea, and never floods. After the snow melt, plant life explodes andhuge fields of wildflowers flow in all directions.
The area is rich not only in land life, but also marine. Each fall, thesalmon run upstream to spawn as they been for thousands of years.
