Hi everyone, I am NOT a new user although I am pretty sure most of the people here don't know about me. But I joined this forum in about 2007 (I was playing a pirate copy at that time), then I has been busy on other things. I hasn't been playing SC4 very often, actually I stopped for a while after I upgraded my PC. However since I bought the steam version, it is very easy to get it back on to my computer. This is what happened recently. However, since I have been left from the game so long, I need to research to gain my memory back and find all the modern mods I would need. This bought me back to this forum. I am so glad to see there is even a serial of video tutorial created just last year, and the mod creators are still productive! Now I will talk about my experience of the game. I am an expert of neighbor deals. My main cities does not have power plants, water pumps or garbage facilities, they are all handle with my neighbor cities (namely, they are "resource" cities). I never need to worry about budget because I earn too much from neighbor deals (I usually earn more than $10,000 in the first month in game, and later on that can easily reach $20,000,000). If anyone want to know how I achieve this, let me know, I will be happy to share my experience) I was not so good at layout design, and usually struggle with traffic problems. That's the area that I need help with. To build my ultimate "resource" city, I need to unlock the hydrogen power plant. I don't care about the monthly cost or building cost because I am rich; but this one have the highest power output/area ratio therefore I can build a city full of it and so it can serve my whole region. Unfortunately in a new region this is too far away to reach. Instead, I end up achieve this by UDI. Even this is not easy because I have to unlock Area 51 and it takes a lot of effect. Also, I prefer to build my cities that can be easily join together - that is, a limited set of city terrain that will be able to combine any two of them without "reciliate" the border. That's all for my "first" post (it should not be the first, but my old posts long ago are lost - I couldn't find them any more).

Modding the power plant capacities
TheMurderousCricket posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I have modded my power plants to have some more capacity. Roughly twice as much. While this works fine on its own, I have discovered a goofy, yet amusing, bug regarding the power deals. Well, first of all, all power deals with the old power plants have to be cancelled first. Just like you'd have to bulldoze any buildings that you intend to mod. But when I tried to renew a deal... As you can see, my cities are offered to sell/buy some "darwinist" amounts of power, rather than the regular 1000MWh increments. Roughly an increments of the value which is 10% nominal power. As a beginner, I don't really know what has caused this behavior but it's there.- 3 Replies

I am not certain if this is exactly the right forum for this question, but I am currently trying to build up the default area (maxisland or whatever it is called) with "cities of industry" that don't actually have any residential/commercial/industrial areas, but are just for supplying power, water, and trash (though for this I discovered you have to zone a small area as residential or whatever and let the city run for a very short time to to "register" the landfill zones in the "city of industry) services to the "real" city. This seems to work quite well for cities bordering right on the "cities of industry," but the further that I get away from the "cities of industry", keeping the reciprocal deals that you need to make get more and more confusing. What I am looking for is a mod that lets you buy the services directly from the "city of industry" that is actually supplying it rather than having to get it from reciprocal deals. For example, suppose you had a "city of industry" that produced electricity, then "cityA" immediately to the east of that, and "cityB" immediately to the east of that. "City of industry" would have to produce enough electricity for both cityA and cityB and sell it all to cityA, which in turn would have to sell its excess capacity to cityB. The deals get even messier as you go to cityC and cityD and even further east. They also get messier when you are managing deals for all 3 services, water, trash, and electricity rather than just electricity. Is there a mod that allows cityB to ignore cityA and deal directly with "city of industry." Is this even something that can be changed by mods. I looked through the mods available on this Simtropolis site, and found one that changes neighbor deals, but not in the way I am asking for. Also, I do not use cheats in my "real" cities, but have no problems using the "weekness pays" cheat to get more money or the "you don't deserve that" cheats to get the hydrogen power plant or the large water pump for my cities of industry. Is this "bad." Brian Christiansen

Having had a look for similar issues, all the answers I can find are just explaining the mechanics of neighbour deals that I already know. So my problem is this. City A: http://puu.sh/ceipT.jpg Wishes to buy power from City B: http://puu.sh/ceisC.jpg There is an existing deal between the two for 1000 MWh (which I have tried cancelling and re-making but it will still only sell me 1000), but for some reason it won't let me increase it past that at all. With a second neighbour however, it lets me buy power as expected. Up to 10,000 MWh (a deal for 6000 already exists with them). Does anyone know why this is? Edit: I'm mostly confused because it does let me buy 1000 MWh, which seems to imply that it can sell.
