Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll look for that diagonal dirt road mod, and as for the farms on the main highways I do plan on redeveloping them. This isn't even going to be the main city in the region, I haven't even started on that one yet lol. Gonna be studying some maps of cities and do a lot of planning so I can get it to be pretty realistic.

This is the future site of the town of Bailey. This is where the two rivers meet and become one. The one in the upper left corner is the Bailey River, named for the famous SimNation explorer George Bailey who discovered this area in 1900. The other river, which is the main river is the Etowah River (a local river near me here in Georgia), which was named after a local tribe of Indians. This is several years later (sorry, I wanted to get it nicely developed before I took a picture) as the town has grown into a nice place. This is a night shot that shows the nice, small town, business district which is three blocks long and two blocks wide. The park you see on the right side of the picture is Observatory Park, named for the Observatory which is obviously located in the park itself. This picture was taken in the mid-1960s. This is the newly built Northwood Estates, a neighborhood that was designed after the city's planning commissioner Thad Nameless returned from a recent trip to the big city of Fairfield. Upon his return he proclaimed "This housing development design of the FUTURE!! Fairfield which until a few years ago was a small town like us started to build these on the outskirts of its own city limits and Sims from all over are flocking to them in droves!" Taken in late 1969, this picture shows how things are quickly beginning to change. The major roads into and out of Bailey have been upgraded to four-lane highways (this was accomplished so quickly by working day and night for four years, a move that ultimately cost the city it's highway crew due to anger over long hours and low pay). You can see how downtown has gotten nicer, a new apartment building has gone up nearby and the town has attracted the major American retailers Wal-Mart and K-Mart. (Both stores had resided in their current locations for years before until the highways were widened, then both stores were torn down and rebuilt in the same locations.) That is all for now, hope to have more soon. In between my first city journal (Riverside) and this one I had an experimental city based on Miami that turned out to be the largest city I've ever built, unfortunately after I'd built it up I didn't care for the map design I had used as it posed some major problems and thus deleted it. Sorry to go off topic there lol. I also have a partial list of downloads from the Site Exchange and would like to thank the following: (If you see something in my city that was your upload let me know so I can give you credit, don't want to offend anyone.) Thanks for the encouragement, I'm gonna delete all of my downloads that I have and redownload them so that I can give credit properly. I'm also gonna look for some regions on the exchange because instead of a metro area I want to do Sim Nation lol.

Well, I hate to report to everyone that over the weekend a storm passed through the area. Stupid me forgot to turn off my computer before I left for Florida and it was messed up, gonna be playing on the other computer in the house. Unfortunately I couldn't salvage Riverside so I'll try and start something else.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. I'll be away from my computer from this Wednesday to Sunday for vacation. cityhawk - yeah, I've gotta put in a water treatment plant and figure out how to clean the water up lol. SC4Noobie - my plans are to build on every city square available so that I can get a good regional population going, then Riverside is gonna become the primary city in the area. Right now I plan to grow Riverside much like a lot of cities, surrounded by farms and then growing into a large city, I'm mainly looking at Atlanta as my poster since it is the closest big city to me in the real world. I'm a big fan of building a small downtown area with skyscrapers surrounded by low-rise growth, and when the freeway system is needed the real sprawl will begin and suburban office parks will be born. As I said I'll be busy for the next few days but I'll try and update again tomorrow.
