I’m running SC4 on Steam on a HP Compaq w/ 2.7GHz Intel Core i5. I was playing a city when the game froze up so I closed out and looked into CTD issues (as CTD was happening occasionally anyway). I found the launch option settings i.e. “CPUCount:1, etc” and tried a few of these. The game launched fine but every time I tried to load a city tile I would CTD. I then eliminated the additional launch option settings and the same CTD issue happened when loading any city tile. I changed nothing else. Plugins are identical and were causing no issues previously. Any help is appreciated!

I've really got to thank you, Kloudkicker! Ultimately, setting the renderer to Hardware fixed the issue. And now that I've successfully been able to run on one core, not only is the city tile loading CTD issue solved, but I haven't CTD a single time in city gameplay and the game generally runs so much smoother.

So I want to start playing Simcity again but my PC has been defunct for awhile (I'm a Mac person and only really had a PC for SC4 and The Sims). I was hoping that somebody here could point me too a reliable place where I can get a decent computer for a decent price.

Got back from Chicago recently. I would rate it pretty high.

I'm looking for something under $1000. Probably even under $800 because SC4 is the only thing I really plan on using it for.

Michigan State's college radio station. No idea what's playing right now but it's probably something indie! -

I like all kinds of rock. I'll say the genres with the bands I like the most in parenthesis. Acoustic (Iron and Wine or Nick Drake) Britpop/Britrock (Subways, Coldplay) Ska (Streetlight Manifesto, Less Than Jake) Punk (The Clash) Pop Punk (Something Corporate, Panic! At The Disco) Indie Rock (New Pornographers, Death Cab)

Decent comedy: Family Guy The Office (US Version here, I've seen the UK one as well and it was good) The Daily Show The Colbert Report Craig Ferguson and his show (His monologues at the beginning of each show are really 10 minutes of good quality standup material right of the top of the guys head) Some standup like Demetri Martin (highly recommended) and Jim Gaffigan is decent.
