little update... vistla and simm shady...sadly no they will not render the need to use the maxis tunnels, obsolete. the subway lines for long tunnels can be intrusive to actual subways so there are limitations. thanx all

Dreaming of a TE Lot Mod Discovery
buddybud replied to NetPCDoc's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
i want to here more about this and its compatability with the NAM. i dont quite understand the modding procedure cause im quite new to that end of things...however (if i understand correctly)the implication of possibly making transit enabled puzzle pieces that could be placed next to each other!!!..it would be revolutionairy in terms of constructing some cool and unique networks. please keep us informed and thanks for the said info....cheers -
sorry folks, been quite busy with rl... michael1980 - please be more specific. dogscarletnyc - the single rail lots are long gone and never were uploaded. something very similar can be found on a japanese site...somewhere...cant help you more than that..sorry. hamsterTK. - thats what i call "filler" it was a rude attempt of a festive flag of sorts...lol mightygoose - lol...thanx i guess cjah - thanx as always, i appriciate that. sim shady - thanx...i want to redo those myself....they were in the lost bunch so to speak....im still impressed at myself for those bridges...its all lods...kind of like the sunken transport ive yet to release. same principle. i hope to revisit them some day. LP - where to start "Pegtaboo" is ready to go....i just have to ask peg for permission....lol "Snausage"....has not progressed as of yet but the filler tiles will be the next project I will tackle...aka industrial underbridge. the stone road filer pieces will pobably be later. "kippers" is no more than a good idea...it will probabaly turn into something. "newjerionij02" and "how to slope" models no longer exist though could be rebuilt easily. all textures are intoact though. "newjeronij07"'s models are also lost and were tricky to make. but i will definatley redo this one at some point. theres also some more i would add to the list but im only one man!!!!...lol ive decided from this point on i will only finish what i started and try to encorporate any new ideas into those bats so as to guarentee the light of day for the above ideas......but it will take time. aleking - man your one patient dude.....i would hate me by now if i were you lol....but the ub industry will be next by all means. i got caught up in this underpass thingy and i just got sucked in...lol....help.. tinysim.....thanks sorchin....i could put a tutorial together at some point. its intricate but not dificult if you have a good understanding of bat and ireader. it would take time to do though so probably not soon unless i see a large demand for such. goin2chicago - thanx blackbeard - thanx blahdy - i'll pm you..been busy...sorry man...and thanx rooker1- see below...tanx ok...as said above ive been quite busy....i did work in bits and pieces and have completed the following.....the road etc textures were changed now and are as close as i can get them...though i think they look good. ... i finished the 1x1 below ground underpasses first.....and dont complain, 1x2 and 1x3 will be released also. i just had to start somewhere.... ok heres the finished 1x1 road 1x1 oneway entrance and exit a 1x1 road and two of four pedestrian underpasses ive made and the other two pedestrian underpasses i made. i will release these lots in the next week as a beta. along with four transit enabled lots for directing paths. the road etc underpasses are pathed and are transit enabled for cars only because of the steep incline and height of the entrance. no pedestrian either...i suck at modding lol....cars and cars only... the pedestrian underpases are subways also and are obviously meant for short distances under rails and highways and such...these are not pathed but function...the are loded properly if some one else would like to path them...be my guest...its beyond my skills and interest. all of which will cost 0 to build and maintain....because the subway conecting the two sides will be expensive enough i figure. also there are 0 jobs in all lots....this also stops pedestrians from using the car only underpasses. back to work...lol

tease. and yes these work....in the identical manner to the others. fun.

Alright, a little update. We're talking paths... Below you see a test town i built. too more clearly see the lots we go to a sub underground view. The lots have now been modeled in this form. above ground parts are buildings and and the below ground parts are props. the reason for this is that buildings cast some shadow on the ground even without a texture present, that obscures the automata while it travels into the ground along its path. Props dont suffer from this problem, however you still need the building available for clicking for stats. so logically bottom prop top building. Below, on the left we see two of my 1x2 road>sub underpasses with a rail running between them. this is ok since two differnt network types next to each other wont interact unless told to do so. so paths arent an issue their. it works fine. On the right we see two new 1x1 street>sub underpasses with a road running between them. this in terms of paths is a problem. notice by the red arrows how the car paths jump from the road above to the transit enabled underpasses. this really bugged me. i wanted to build small little intersections that were totally functional and couldnt. I almost assumed there was no way around this. however. There is quite a simple solution. Transit enabled lots can not be placed next to each other when the path runs in the same direction. But you can place them next to each other when they are perpendicular or side by side. so all i had to do was make two simple transit enabled 1x1's and place them were the red boxes are. and heres the results.two different shots of how the paths actually behave as they should!! good paths. freaking simple solution that dogged me for weeks...lol. needless to say that this now presents the possibilities of some good little intersections and underpasses....

El-Rail Base Texture--It is nasty
buddybud replied to ____----____'s topic in NAM & Transit Networks
as soon as i get time i will tackle this as best i can.... -
im guessing ...but by the look of it you used the standard big box lods... if thats the case you need to make custom lods that are "tight" around your bat exactlly. the easiest way to do this is to grab everything, clone it, remove any uvw maps from objects....then attach everything and remove textures. an example from one of my model's of a bridge arch. note...my model extends beyond the lods in this case in order to create seamless puzzle pieces which of course you need not worry about... any questions just ask...cheers edit....mind you i never worked with water so i may be wrong.

thought you gave up...glad to see they still might be released...looking forward to seeing more..cheers

heres a some shots to show how functional these lots can be. at one end we have an avenue underpass and at the other two one ways. evening and morning traffic then shown. i was surprised myself at how well it worked.

nah thats my style man.....sorry to dissapoint.

ok...this is what ive been working on. i changed the incline for the 1x1 but left 6m clearence. fixed the lods, added paths darkened the road texture and dimmed the lights. heres the final in action. heres a avenue bit ive worked on next to jeronij's road rail underpass. the ave still is not done.
