Hey alll I have done some searching and nothing has come up. so i thought i might ask!. Is there any program or any way to extract the games original sprites from the .dat files?. I have tried Wattos game extractor. but it sees the files as "Close Zoom Image"(czi) & "Far Zoom Image"(fzi), Which helps none. as the files don't show any extension information. So i was wondering if anyone knows of a old tool or a viewer to see the sprites. i am not worried about nitty gritty of importing the files. i am just looking to view or extract them into a viewable format. I included some fzi & czi for reference or if someone knows how to decrypt them? Thanks D. Roads.dat.rar

So the best thing for IXF files is to check out the Linux release. the IXF files are super exposed. https://archive.org/search.php?query=SimCity 3000 Linux I did extract them using that old wattos game extractor. i've attached the BUILDFAM they are TXT files.(obvious) Buildfam.rar

yes now that Emeryville has closed i think YES Simcity is dead however the legacy still lives on But skylines did nothing short of what simcity did. the only thing it did that is different is texturing bigger maps and one-ways. however this was added by UDoN's. everything else is the same UI. traffic. etc However if you look DEEEP DEEEP DEEEP in the forums you can find out that we got help from the devs to make UDoN's. and most of our mods And yes bigger maps mod was glitched but it was only the games collision script that went into the 2K box same with Resources. and it lags on even high-end computers ( witch in all respects makes me think is Skylines really simulating all the agents it says it is??? hmmm fishy) also no one has ever compared the game on it's own haha WITHOUT simcity hmmmmmm That makes me think if the game got a bit more attention it needed instead of making a big deal out of it's issues maybe we would have had a map editor today and even more. from what i have been reading is the traffic issues are swept under the carpet when spoken about. oh well :/ -

YET everyone is saying how much simcity5 is soooo buggy and how much simcity 4 has better EVERYTHING meanwhile SC4 was the same as SC5 I wonder what this means for cities skylines with bugs that are not shown or seen that will be found hmmm But anyways i remember playing SC2000 from a pirated copy from some discs that a company did in the 90's to just before 2000's then i remember getting the sims 1 back in 2003 this was due to the computer at the time was old(Windows ME) and i remembered playing SC4 as my friends mothers house and wanting it. years later i got the simcity box

ok porting the script tool won't be hard however it does require python for blender. it's not to hard just a lot of man hours what would need to be made is a RGB tint and croppers for the UV maps also to make the names generate the (what i call) "Building layer sequence" i.e 1.2.6.0.0.0.0.6.09.5 etc this is to allow the building to read in SCP and also allow for the game to read what material is on what this is were it becomes hard also this will have to work on the "open collada" exporter unfortunately i have no experience in blender. only in 3ds max and maya. -

OK i Wrote out a guide a few months ago along with the Guide is the Script unfortunately you can't use blender for making buildings. as the script is only for 3ds max this is due to the way the game reads buildings and how SimCityPak imports them as the building materials have to have color palettes, layers and what not i did not go to much into the scripting side as it is very difficult to understand but something you can do is download the world trade center and use it as a template to see how things work but i do cover how it is done in the guide hope that helps PM me if you need any other help -

hmmm sounds good i will see what i can pull together.... -
nothing it just opens blank menus the cheat menu's should have plop anywhere cones that remove traffic add water pollute areas remove the pollution and so on the paint brush should have layer painters for trees oil etc the grid should not have roads but debug tools to make regions with a 2048 cube great works template that is generated once it has been done. all of the debug UI was screwed up 2 years ago when it was found . a lot of it was disabled and put to server side the only Debug stuff that remains is the regional roads, and a menu with building that are visible in the other menus. and mega towers that wont work no matter what you do.
