  1. Playing SC4 on December 25.

    A Nonny Moose, my city is only about 15k population. Nerby I have neighbour city vith 300k... I played SC4 about 2-3 years and in both cities never seen before this type (every second) of lags. Otherwise I would not write about it now. And what you'll say about this: Just a coincidence? Now December 26 and I playing without any lags. Furthermore, if now I'll change the date on my PC to December 25 - I'll see snow and lags again Anyway, the problem detected & solved and my post was just for future searching - may be it helps someone next Christmas. p.s. WJC started!!!!11
  2. Playing SC4 on December 25.

    It's strange, but this christmas snow may cause microlags in game. I playing last few days and everything was OK, but then I launched the game last night, 25 December, I found that everything moves with every second lag - traffiс, pedestrians, clouds, buildings (when growing or demolishing) moves by fits and starts. About one microlag every 1-2 seconds... After checking another reasons I checked the last that came to my mind - I changed the date on my PC to December 24. And the lags are disappeared! I changed the date back to December 25 and they return This is Christmas miracle, guys
  3. Hello everyone. About one year later after my first helping request to community I’m back in deadlock So… Now my city is about 300k population & 150k ID jobs. And it grows very very slow & inertly. Especially industry. In earlier city grows much faster and when was some slowdown with growing, the game gave hints what I need to do (add connectors or something like that) and this works… But now there is no any hints from the game. That’s why I’m here I suppose two reasons of problem – external & internal. External. I have 5 neighborhoods connected to my city. But all of them are not developed (only done highway or/and rail neighbor connectors), except one – it’s a very little town with 30 residents . May be such neighbors now is no longer enough for further growing of 300k-city? May be I need to develop them or at least one of them? (I don’t want do this now!!!11) … And there is one more problem – all good from a lot of my facilities are going only in one neighbor city (which with 30 residents). No one truck/train not going to another neighbors. I thought that is because it city is only one “alive” and I decided to “liven up” second city for experiment – build few small houses with around 30 residents too, water, power & connect residential area with road to neighbor connector… But no, no one truck didn’t going to this city. And that is I don’t understand. Second, internal. On first look everything is OK – every resources that needs to successful growing of residential and industry (water, power, medicine, schools, low taxes, traffic, etc.) are enough… And they are growing, but very “hardly” and slowly… May be on this stage/size city needs some more? May be its because its monocity (only rs$, a lot of IDjobs & just a few cs$)? I heard that game didn’t like such one-sided cities… I give up! PS I use “Super Demand Mod” – it makes “user’s fight vs RCI demand” more easier, but it’s not a 100% “magic button”. If problem is global – it will not help. If buildings don’t grow even with this mod – the problem is global
  4. I checked this - low taxes (1%) also didn't help. Now working on architectural plan of commercial neighbor
  5. May be in default game. But as I said demand mods make problems easier. I didn't feel the PITA during developing my industrial city . And I'll be more happier doing balanced region consisting of various specialized cities.
  6. ok, thahks for bad news, guys I'll try to develope one of my neighbors - hope one will be enough to "restart" my city Another question - should my first neighbor have another "specialisation" (commercial, for example) for better effect or it doesn't matter? Size does matter? As I said I have several neighbors and can to choose. Three different connections from my city or three different connections to each of my numerous neighbors?
  7. Hi all. The problem is on the attached picture. Why 2x4 residential building (any style) did not want to grow in place nubered '"1"? I mean parrallel to street. It's did not want to grow in any place nubered "2" - only perpendiculars 2x4... What else it want to happiness? PS buildigs "3" and "4" are for example - they are ok and how i need
  8. A Nonny Moose, the question is not for degradation, the question is for occupancy. I forcibly grows the building in the place where it didnt want to grow. I reduce desirability level (by deleting parks) and forcibly prevent building from re-grow by making it historical. The building will be stand here for many years before degradation - this is understandable. But will it be stand empty or half or normally occupated (with positive or neutral residential demand) during its life cycle? To occupy or not to occupy - that is the question Oh yeah! Just now I first time saw the snow on my mountains. At first I thougt what there is a bug, then I understood that is a snow (because it appear/disappear in october-april). Then i didnt understand how I enable it and start searching forum to find how to disable... I didnt find solution but find the reason. Hahaha, very funny joke for the novices who decide to play on 25 december. Happy Christmas, guys!
  9. First of all, sorry for didnt answer previous days, guys.. Second. cogeo, you was right! I delete the TV Studio and 4x2 building momentially grows. Parallel! And on the all of avenue too. With my novice level of knowledge about this game I've never suspect that the causer might be such "harmless" (on first look) building like tv studio... Now I know the reason and know a little more about nuances of SC4. Thanks for help, cogeo & others And third - I have another one question If the building didnt want to grow in place where I need - I can to force the process of growing by some catalysts (parks for example). Then, after the growing complete, I apply option "make historical" in building menu. And then I delete parks i.e. return desirability level to negative... What will be with this building in future? Will it be abandoned or half/partially abandoned? Can this "legal cheat" method somehow to broke in ingame mechanics in future gameplay?
  10. cogeo thanks for big post, but: I wrote that the problem with any style of buildings. This means that any 2x4 building (not only Long Tilt Tower) didnt want to grow in this place... Demand, water & etc are enogh - any 4x4, any 4x3, any 4x2 perpendicular are growing momentally in this place. But not 4x2 parallel to street... If i zone like in picture and wait some time - i get some small houses (1x2 or 2x2), which I dont want. And what I want - did not want to grow here And the problem not in one this place. The problem in all the street from Bank America to the left, to first crossroad (distance numbered "2" in picture). I rezone and rebuild this piece of street many-many times, trying to grow 2x4 parallel (like 3 and 4 on picture)... But NO - any 2x4 want to grow only perpendicular! Yes, I can solve this problem easily by construction another buildig here. But this problem may be back in future. Again and again... That's why i try to understand (with your help, guys) the mechanics/rules of how are they growing. In other words, I didnt try to solve this individual problem - I try to understand the reason About little off-topic: a city planning in my mind prescribes a dense wall-to-wall development. And I didnt afraid difficulties (traffic, pollution etc) - they dont stop me! PS sorry for my russkii english

    Haljackey or someone, please help me for one question. I see on the screenshots of this mod some yummy ramps and smooth curves for Maxis highways - I wanna them both! :) I have already installed NAM 31.1, but there are no ramps and no curves... Only have two ramps (cloverleaf and one T-interchange - they are maxis original if I'm not mistaken) and "custom interchanges" menu, but it's empty!  And smooth curves... I found curves for anythig - for roads, rails, RHWs, avenus, monorail.. But no curves for maxis highways. Nowhere. What am I doing wrong?
