Hey everyone, Does anyone else think it is ridiculous that everything has to be placed next to a road? In order to place parks to raise land value you have to place a park next to a road that will take you valuable commercial or residential space. SimCity4 this was not the case, why the change I wonder. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution to this.

Yeah I get the whole thing about the parks needing to be visited. Just was hoping, like you mentioned, a free form placement like in sim4. In Sim4 it seemed to work by randomly placing parks wherever without having to take up a zone spot. Ideally I would like to be able to place a park in the middle of a zone not to the side of one.

I am wondering, are almost all the additional options in simcity4 mods? I ask only because there seem to be no tunnel, bridge options. I know that obviously some are mods but it seemed Simcity 4 was so rich with with them. I have to say I miss them and simcity 2013 seems a little boring.

Did Origin actually have the nerve to raise the price of 2013 here recently? I could have sworn I saw the downloadable version for PC on Amazon for 49$ Now it is 59$. Must be making up for all the free games they handed out during launch.

I am trying to install Miami Beach region. Following the instructions everything seems to be going well but on the last step when I am waiting for the program to create Miami Beach, I only get clouds. It starts the process and goes thru all the steps and I see a small square of land. I assume it is just the default but when the program finishes the land disappears and I only have clouds. I have both the jpg file and config file both in the Miami Beach folder. Any suggestions? Also to save a post I have another question. Industry. It keeps catching fire. So I added a fire station closer and it shows its covered. All roads are connected and no traffic backups but still the far corner keeps catching fire. So I got pissed and added like five fire stations in the corner. It still caught fire. This has happened to me several times in the past so I just dont use industry that often. Anyone?

Its a shame that a company can still profit hugely on a product that was looked down on so negatively, but cant blame them I guess. Its the people that bought the game.

Suddenly I have no traffic whatsoever on my streets and what few people I can see are just standing in front of buildings as if they are trapped there. Of course my advisors tells me there is a side street traffic jam issue. What could I have installed that would suddenly make me not have any traffic? My settings are set correctly for # of sims etc. I checked that already

I wonder if that is it. I recently uninstalled it because I never used it. Do you think uninstalling traffic simulator could have caused this? Maybe reinstalling it will fix it eh?

Suddenly I am not able to see the fire trucks when they are dispatched to a fire. I see the marker moving up the street and can hear the siren. I can also see the water spraying the fire but no truck. Any Ideas why suddenly they are missing and where I look to fix? Thanks

Why is that SimCity has opted not to use hydro power? Meaning have dams etc. Everything else is available. Solar coal etc. but one clean source of power is not available or am I missing something?

I was wondering if there was a way to prevent the scrolling information window from displaying any if not all information. The only reason I ask is it seems to constantly tell me that I need something (ex. cemetery, city hall etc.) when I have already plopped all that is available to me. With everything going on I tend to forget if I placed one or not and then have to search and find. If not then I will live but would be nice to have one less distraction, especially being newish. Thanks for any info.....unless it is negative :-)

Newbie here!! I have been reading so many conflicting stories about multiplayer so I have to ask. Isnt it an option to not play multiplayer? There is no way it would go over well with me being so green to the game. The other players would switch to God mode and destroy me lol. I have some experience with simcity4 rush hour but am waiting on 2013 for bug fixes etc. There are so many negative comments. region sizes, always on (DRM) and this seem to be the most talked about.

I am fairly new so I am sure this is a first day question. Is there an easier way to locate your utility buildings other than having to hover your mouse over every single building in the area that you think it is? Example: When your city/cities get fairly large or you have it divided up and hence several fire stations, schools, medial and so on and you just want to check on the the status of each, is there an easier way to locate each building other than having to hover over each building until you find it. I know that if there is a fire of course it will take you right to it or if the advisor screen prompts for more funding you can click on the message and again will take you there but what if you just want to check on the status before a warning message?

Thanks guys. Now that you guys mention the data tool I remember clicking on it to get stats but never paid attention that it highlighted the buildings. Thanks for your help
