  1. Pax Volistae, or the Late Empire of Volistad

Thankyou very much Here is the full update for today, and the last one until next week, as RL compells me away from the PC for a few days. The Imperial Palace, Remains of the Gardens, and the Remains of the Imperial Cemetary and Memorial Park. A general view of the Palace with it's gardens, showing the extent of the damage done by nature and the erosion of the cliffs, and also apparent is the ammount of work that must have been involved in strengthening the cliffs directly under the Palace, to prevent it dropping into the Sea. Here we have a close-in shot of the Palace frontage and a part of the remains of the now sadly overgrown gardens. The former Cemetary and Memorial park, now also sadly overgrown, and the encroaching forest has reclaimed many of the graves and tombs, leaving only the elevated area, a few large monuments, and a cluster of lesser graves as evidence that the area ever existed at all. A little direction as to what is what . A general overview of this now completed area. 2. Pax Volistae, or the Late Empire of Volistad

UPDATE I (Quick In-Progress Picture) Shown below is the last remnant of the Imperial Palace, the so-called "Sea Palace", where the Emperors lived, and died, during the former glory years of the Empire. The palace was last lived in by the 38th Duke, Elessar the Vainglorious, who had rather above-his-place pretentions, and wanted to be Emperor. He cared for the palace, and conducted many major works, including shoring up the cliffs to prevent any more loss of land to the sea. The current ruler, Duchess Christobel, hates the place. She considers it a haunted tomb to her dead father, and has left it to rot away on it's own little island. As a result, the formal gardens to the front are now overgrown and unrecognisable, and in part has already fallen away into the sea. Time has been kind to this ancient structure, but nature has not. The Sea Palace I I will post two more pictures of the Imperial Palace complex as I finish lots. I am currently working on the desolate gardens, and some kind of statuary/memorial area for fallen Emperors.
  3. Does the BAT come packaged with it's own lot editor, or do you mean the seperate one from SC4.com ? I have the seperate one, on Vista Ultimate, and it works fine. Apparently the non-64bit versions of Vista have come out horrible, due to microsoft having to cut down the technology for older kit.
  4. Pax Volistae, or the Late Empire of Volistad

defcon pilot - thanks, I was wondering what turned it off. homeandaway - I'll paste direct links to the pictures also from now on (and in the original post), incase your browser hates images that stretch the page or something like that, I know mine does sometimes.
  5. Simcity 5 Discussion

My friends and I would quite like a multi-player element to be done, LAN or 'Net based, you each run a different city on a pre-set region, it'd add an extra layer of strategy to play - who to make deals with, and who to ignore to benefity your own city. Something like that could really breathe almost permanent life into this type of game. Of course a full 3D world with a moveable camera view would be excellent, but I can't help thinking that such an advanced feature might put some lower-ability content creators off a little, because of the extra work involved working in 3 dimensions as opposed to 2.
  6. Pax Volistae, or the Late Empire of Volistad

Thankyou all I've added another couple of pictures to the initial post, and I'll have some more tomorrow. Deever - The bats are Kwakelaar's walls and general castle bits (they are perfect for this bit of Volistad); and their Schiffenberg Monastery prop back, which I lotted for the fortress interior.
  7. City walls 1100 AD puzzel pieces

Excellent work, I was looking for a good set of walls for my CJ, and these fitted the bill perfectly, thankyou so much for taking the time to make these, and the castle set. :) 10 stars.
  8. Foreword - This project is the visual realisation of many (and I mean folders full) works of literature, ranging from simple poems to epic stories. I have chosen to use SC4 for this purpose because it is rather scarily moddable. To that end, I have been busy with the region-terrain-editor toy sculpting away, and searching the STEX for things to represent the picture that the writing conjures. All pictures are hosted on Photobucket, for the benefit of ST bandwidth, and the journal will contain many custom LOTs + BATs, some of my own, and more of other's work. I hope that a few of you enjoy this for what it is - not a professional realism project, but a simple realisation of a dream. The Late Empire of Volistad Volistad is a small city, clinging to a rocky peninsula, that has for the past several thousand years, covered itself in unending glory. The city itself is a place of beauty, with a very French feel, with wide boulevards and tree-filled parks helping to dispel any ideas of an urban landscape. The inhabitants of the city are mostly related to the running of the Empire these days, as various colonies, protectorates, and allies demand ever more attention from the authorities. Of course, final authority rests with one person... The 40th ruler of Volistad, the Duchess Christobel Daughter of Elessar the Vainglorious Sister of the 39th Duke, Elessar II There hasn't been an Emperor in Volistad for around 300 years. The last Emperor, Maximillian, managed to cause a devastating civil war, that wrenched appart the Empire, and rendered any Imperial pretentions rather hollow. Fierce fighting by loyal Household troops kept the peninsula in 'Imperial' Hands, but most territory was lost, and a reconquest had to begin... Thus the line of Ducal power was born, and has endured. This journal will contain five main areas of interest to begin with; The Nociturn Gate and Fortress The City of Volistad The Imperial and Ducal Palaces The Golden city of Asphaeleon The Protectorate of Zimland This morning will shall begin with the first, the entrance to the peninsula, and general headquarters of the Household Guards, The Nociturn Gate, and the Nociturn Fortress. The gate is a rather simple affair, merely fortified walls set into a rocky promontory, guarding the only land entrance onto the peninsula, whilst the Fortress is far more impressive, holding several barracks, administration buildings, and being generally imposing, surrounded as it is by mixed forest and a rather medieval landscape. **More coming, finalising the Fortress and preparing to produce images of that, and a couple more of the Gate and it's surroundings** Image II - Nociturn Fortress Image III - Nociturn Fortress Detail
  9. Berliner Reichstag

    I love this, well done.
  10. High Speed Rail Project

I know that this may sound slightly noobish, but please bear with me. I was intrigued by this idea, so I've sat and read or at least read a few posts from all of the pages, and downloaded the Beta on the Stex, the left-hand paths, and some other update that was posted in this thread. (if that's the wrong way of doing things, please tell me). I've then gone in game, clean region, and thrown the HSR across two large city-squares, and placed residential at one end, and commercial/industrial at the other. Now, everyone is linked to their HSR station by underground, but no-one uses the actual HSR - some of the residential types use the station as an extra underground station, but no HSR trains run. Also, on "U-Drive it", I only seem to get a train running right-left, though that's probably just bad luck. Any ideas how I can force people onto the thing ? There aren't any other links between the two cities, and I've tested as much of the track as is possible for breaks, there are non. I've also tried removing the fancy passing-loops I put in at the stations, but that made no difference. I really do like this idea, and would love to use it on some of my bigger regions, so if anyone has a solution, or I've just missed something, I'd be most grateful if you could help me make it take passengers. Thanks.
  11. Geico Building

Did anyone read the description ? I didn't get the impression it was a serious lot
  12. Deep Valley

If ye didn't care what people thought, you wouldn't have posted it ;)
  13. BSC Brick Canals Bridge Pack 01

I think perhaps the 'up and over' rail bridge could be a little longer on the approach ? make it look less like a roller-coaster ? I do like these though, thanks *10*
  14. The City of Danavia

Thanks Utora The two shipyards are viable because I have a lot of low-wealth workers in the main city-area, more workers than jobs infact, so they all get across the bay to work in the 'yards. You just need lots and lots of low-med wealth workers available.
  15. The City of Danavia

thanks to everyone who commented once again Update the Third - Industrial, Sea-Port and Naval Facility at Danavia, also, I smoothed out the slopes, as earlier suggested. (all pics hosted offsite) Lets start with the improved slopes - Next, One of the two strike-cruisers that Danavia maintains for local defence - This one is battleship row, for obvious reasons This one, The seaport itself Final pic for today - The Under-refurbishment Great Danavian Shipyards|
