  1. Solution to the left/right driving issue

Date: 10/2/2005 10:48:44 AM Author: NSide359 There is a problem with my SC4. When I changed it to 13 and 'UKEnglish', when the advisors would come up, they will just have a bunch of symbols instead of real words. Is there some way that I can have english and left-hand driving? I also have the Singapore version of SC4. Does this make a difference? quote> If you named your folder UKEnglish you need to rename it to UKEnglsh (notice there is no i). If that doesn't work please please tell us.
  2. Grass Lots Slope and trees compatible

I had the same problem as Leena, so I checked and it turns out the stone fence is from "BSC BAT Props MJB Vol04", which means you should list this as a dependency. Here's the link: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=Prop&Str=bsc%20bat%20props%20mjb%20vol04
  3. Solution to the left/right driving issue

Attached is a zip containing two files that make it easier to change driving sides. Click Here Unzip those files anywhere you want, And double click on the one you want to use: Right_Hand_English.reg <- This will make the game change to right hand driving. You need to create a folder named English in your main SimCity 4 dir. Left_Side_UKEnglsh.reg <- This will make the game change to left hand driving. You need to create a folder named UKEnglsh in your main SimCity 4 dir. After you use one of those and create the corresponding folder you must copy the file SimCityLocale.dat into the new folder. You'll find that file in the folder corresponding to the language you used to play in. If you were playing in dutch that would be the folder dutch, if you played in english with left side driving that would be UKEnglsh, etc. You can find a list of folders (posted by lms) here: English UKEnglish French German Italian Spanish Dutch Danish Swedish Norwgian Finnish Hebrew Russian Japanese Portuges Polish SChinese Korean Hindi Arabic Blgarian Cyrillic Ukranian Czech Greek Hngarian Icelandc Romanian Latin Slovak Albania Turkish SFrench CFrench BFrench SGerman SItalian BDutch MSpanish Tagalog Vietnmse Hopefully this will solve any problems you might have with changing driving sides.

  5. Solution to the left/right driving issue

Date: 5/30/2005 9:34:41 AM Author: vester_DK I have danish as my primary language on my machine. When I chance the 13 to 1 as descripe, it chances from left to right hand driving, but also the language to danish, which I like to be english. Thinking of it, I might try to chance the language to english before entering the game. EDIT: No it did do it for me. Still have to play with right hand driving and danish or english and left hand driving. Any one got an idea how to get english and right hand driving ? If you change the key to 1 you need to change the name of the folder UKEnglsh (found in your Simcity 4 folder) to English. Date: 5/30/2005 12:57:10 PM Author: Adm Lee J.E. Braden Wrong way round, that makes UK verson act like US versions, I need US to UK version You need to change the registry key to 13 and rename the folder English to UKEnglsh (that's not a typo).
  6. Solution to the left/right driving issue

I've noticed that some people have bought the game in either europe or australia and have installed the English version (Which is actually the UK English version) and the cars drive on the left side of the road, but would prefer to have them drive on the right. I have come up with a solution for this issue, involving using the Registry Editor. I am not very experienced with programming so I haven't managed to come up with some way of making this easier, but it still works. Create a folder in your SimCity 4 folder (probably Program Files/SimCity 4/) named English. Copy the SimcityLocale.dat file from the language you wish the game to be in into that folder. Open the Registry editor (press the start button on your taskbar, select run.. then type regedit ) Navigate to the folder under the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Maxis/SimCity 4/1.0 Double click where it say Language, a window will open up, replace the highlighted number with a 1. Click OK. Close the Registry Editor. That should do it. It has been confirmed that the fix works for SC4 with or without Rush Hour. EDIT: I've changed the instructions according to the some new information by DangerDave

I have made a 'UKEnglish' folder in my Simcity 4 folder, moved the DAT (simcitylocale) file into it, and changed the language to '13' Any ideas why? ---------------- You're folder has to be name "UKEnglsh", not "UKEnglish" no i . It wasn't a typo, the names of the folders have to be exactly as I wrote on the list.

By the way 8 = Dutch---------------- It doesn't do anything AFAIK, at least I haven't changed it. Still says "English UK" even though I use the US english version. Let me know if you notice anything.

I think it's very nice, and esier to fit in my cities. But I'd rather not have it work as a police station, how can I do that?

---------------- On 10/29/2003 9:53:19 AM hello_SC4 wrote: Can you tell me the value for Italian?---------------- Here's a list of some of the possible languages, and their corresponding folder: Registry value - Folder 1 - English 2 - French 3 - German 4 - Italian 5 - Spanish 6-7 ?? (I couldn't recognize the languages) 8 - Dutch 9 ?? A (10decimal) - Portgese 13 (19decimal) - UKEnglsh They will all have a date and money format corresponding to each country. Remeber, you can actually use one country's language and another's date/money/driving side format. Your sims can speak italian and drive on the left you want to (just place the italian 'simcitylocale.dat' file into the ukenglsh folder and change the reg value to 13) EDIT: Added "Dutch" to the table

Perhaps someone with more programming experience might want to make it more user friendly, it shouldn't be very hard. Anyway you should know that this was initially discovered by accident, when trying to find a fix for an even more annoying issue (check my sig)
  13. Solution to the left/right driving issue

Well, the number in 'Language' determines which folder to look in for SimCityLocale.dat, your date and money format and the side you drive in (probably more stuff, but that's all I've determined). 1 stands for the 'English' folder, m/d/y $xx and right hand driving. 13 (19 in decimal) stands for 'UKEnglsh' and left hand driving. 5 stands for 'Spanish', d/m/y xx$ and right hand driving I haven't tried all the possible numbers, but you get the idea, right?

I'm an 18 year old guy from Bs. As., Argentina, who is currently studying Computer Engineering at a local university. I love all empire and city building games, especially civilization and simcity, and even though I haven't posted much I love this site. AFAIK I'm the only Argentinian in Simtropolis.

I agree with dkefman, they really don't look much like the original ones. Nice buildings, nevertheless.
