I know they're trying to get money. That's why I don't understand why they keep telling us what they're throwing away. Thay're telling us what we will NOT be getting for our $$. I know they want money so I don't understand why they think I'll buy a stripped down version of SC3K. Stop telling me what I will NOT get for my money and tell me what I WILL get.

Yeah, simcity 4 was too complicated. That's why ST has way over 100,000 members.
-
I wasn't going to say it but I really have to now. TM is killing Simcity. They keep giving me more and more and more reasons not to buy it. They're re-doing simcity 4 and intent on giving you less than you already have. Who the hell in their right mind would buy it!??!

I've read that on another thread here boggy. But I mean this part: This game is a city-building game. Okay. Got that. It is a city-building simulation. So it DOES have a simulator, but what is the building simulation? It is a city simulation. So it simulates some part of a city. Is that the same is a city-building simulation? It is an urban simulation game. How is this different than a city simulation. It is a game in which you build cities. Okay, does that mean that's the simulation part or....? Its focus is not on realism and detail. So then what does the simulator do?

Chris also said that it's about building cities, and isn't a simulator. I wish if he didn't have any straight fact's he just be quite about it, or that he'd be more clear about it is (since he gave like 5 definitions now of whta it is, all a bit different).

So if he says it's not actually a simulator, what is it? Just an eyecandy display case? Its the simulation part of SIMcity that keeps me from just making my whole city in BAT, which I get total freedom in and can go 10 times as realistic as what I've seen in SC5 so far. If I'm not paying for a simulator, then I surely hope I'm not paying for their craptastic models. It's not even like buying a nice looking car that doesn't run, it's like buying an UGLY car that doesn't run. -
Very cool idea but we'd need to make HUGE puzzle pieces for the curves. They don't handle creat around the corners This would require making giant 24x24 curve pieces i think... those high speed trains make very slim turns. Of course, that's not a whole lot considering it'd travrse a whole region. In fact, it would taverse several countries IE Amsteram through Rotterdam, through beligum to paris.

Glad you guys like it. I wan't ever terribly pleased with it, but Mightygoose asked me when I joined BLaM if I still had the original building file, and if he could re-release it. And yes, it was very poorly modded, but hey, I'm a CAD guy. I can BAT, but I don't know the first bit about modding. :D Anyway, yes, this is an older project, so judge it as pre-blam quality. I have a new building that's not a year old or something comming up, and that I hope you won't be dissapointed with.

The level is calculated by building size compared to lot size I belive. If you have a w2w building, that means that it takes up all the width, and maybe all the length of the lot, thus making it a very high density building the way the game sees it. Since density is people per area, and the # of residents is calculated by building size. If you use the Reader or something then you can adjust this setting so your w2w buildings will spawn in game.

This building wouln't fit very well in my cities, but my god, what an amazing building...

I don't see any renders... is this just me or.......?

Alright, this is not actually an update, just a quick comment from me. Comments: jacqulina: Thanks, glad you like it. Glenni: And tunes spun there will be even hotter! SystemUK: I know, I've been worried about that but at least I will be taking advantage of the absolute amount of detail possible in SC if I go the extra mile. However, the question remains, what do you all think of the light posts? Should I have lights off the building like in the lower picture, or just the flood lights like in the upper picture?

I'm comming up on nearly finished, so I want to see what everyone thinks before I start finalizing parts. Comments: Jason: Nope, I don't even know what 89 was talking about... 1ajs: Thanks mate. Update 7 (Thursday, May 24): Nearly finished. I'm doing the exterior nitelites, however I'm not sure if I should keep it like it is in the picture with the darkness right by the windows or build some little lamp posts to kee the area light out there. This is what it would look like with little lights: What do you all think? Keep in mind, I can also adjust the radius and brightness of the lights if that's an issue. Do let me know what you think so I can finish up this building. Thanks, Scipio

I think simfox, if you aren't interested in discussing it, then I will, but some weight should certainly be given to Near and Far Attenuation ajustments -

Looking good! I don't think it will really have a hugely noticable effect, since there's many taller buildings. One think I would do is (dunno if you can with Blender, I just use max) to use splines that you created the sides with to make some frames on the large glass area instead of just leaving that for texture. You details are just about there and this is looing up to be a very nice peice of work. Good Job! -Scip
