Nice, I like the photo effects and I love the pretty church.
  3. Tropico 3!

Originally posted by: citiesxlfan42 I sound like an idiot saying this, but what is the Tropico series?quote> It's a series of strategy games where essentially you're the dictator err president of a small Caribbean nation... and you plop buildings sorta like in Simcity, and it takes place during the Cold War so you can decide to either orient yourself towards the US Capitalists or USSR communists. And there are different factions of people: Intellectuals, Militarists, Religious, Environmentalists, etc. This game is particularly a milestone since the past 2 games were in the Simcity4-view, and this one is 3d... and the freight docks look really nice. Instead of that rickety old wooden thing on the other games
  4. Biggest Failure of CXL?

    Two words: Planet Offer.
  5. Tropico 3!

I just played the demo all night last night, it's really addictive. It's kinda easy IMO, but it was fun. I enjoyed the two Campaign thingies. Can't wait to get my hands on the actual game though
  6. Kaeo Wat- Dubai of SEA

Oooh that looks like a nice place to visit
  7. Wow that is so pretty Especially that picture of Lisburi!
  8. San Lorenzo Overview - St. Raphael

sumwonyuno: lol thanks, I added them as sort of a realistic touch, of course not because I would have any interest in those kind of venues.  Evillions: What I did was sort of make the shape of the picture stretched more vertically... you see, if you were to view the cities from top-down view the city boundaries would be perfect squares (as can be noticed on a region config.bmp) so what you do is stretch the picture vertically until you notice that it looks like a square, then rotate it around so it's upright... at least that's how I remember it, it might be a little more complicated.
  9. Mass Transit - The REAL Deal Breaker?

To be honest, I don't think I'd even buy it WITH mass transit... it's just not the kind of city-builder I want.
  10. Schulmania

    Awww it's so cute lmao
  11. Koi Shu Pt. 3/ New Asian 5

Wow those pics of the helipad are great! Very detailed
  12. Before school Extravaganza! (Part 1)

I like your town, it just looks really neat and... where'd you get those roads? I like 'em
  13. San Lorenzo Overview - St. Raphael

Thanks for the comment jamonbread, I can see what you mean, but that's the size the game made it and I figure it gives more space to show more stuff. BTW I love your name... I love ham lol
  14. Windward City

Very nice, my favorite picture would have to be the first one, it looks like a real aerial photo I also like how you made that lake and the golf courses.
  15. San Lorenzo Overview - Lawrence Island

Hey guys, I'm back. I decided to restart this CJ again Above is an overview of the main borough, Lawrence Island, which includes the CBD/Downtown area, old town, and some wealthy upscale neighborhoods. The mosaic above shows the Coast Guard station, part of Downtown, and at the very bottom the concert hall. The concert hall is where you will find various kinds of music on show... from symphonies and opera to rockstars and singers. The waterfront area of San Lorenzo's downtown has had alot of modern additions to it in the past few years, including the road bridge. The city's old cathedral was built in the late 1800s when many European immigrants were moving into the area and didn't have any place to worship. Originally there was a Spanish mission on this site, named after the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius, and when the Americans came in they toppled it over and built a salloon there Then this cathedral was built for the rising population of Irish and Italian catholics in the area. Today this area still has lots of pubs and delicious pizza. Despite being "China Town", this part of the city is really more of a pan-Asian community. There are two main places of worship here, a Chinese temple and Bhutanese temple. Many people come here for the yummy food, and a bit north of China town there are many cheap jewelry stores... although don't expect anything valuable One of the city's main landmarks is the Globe Square, which contains a large metal and glass sphere with several different flags around it. The plaza is located in the center of Downtown. The square was built in the mid-80's to celebrate the city's 200th anniversary. On the northern part of the island is where Gardenvale is located, the wealthiest neighborhood in the city. Most of the people here are wealthy businessmen, celebrities, or just people who have gained alot of money through, erm, "alternative" means. Needless to say you don't want to mess with these guys, they'll file a lawsuit, buy out your business, tear down your neighborhood and turn it into a giant shopping mall. I've already shown the old town (which hasn't changed at all) here. This city journal post was brought to you by:
  16. More screenshots from the demo!

I had the same issues when I played the demo... it seems like the grass always eats the road whenever it's placed on a somewhat sloped area.
  17. FDNY Engine & Ladder 10

    WOW that is amazingly detailed.
  18. Six-Month Anniversary!

I love that cathedral, it's one of my favorites
  19. Winifred Pickles School of Ettiquette

    Why thank you thy Gooberness!
  20. Great Ocean Expedition - Progress Report 1

Oooooooooh. I wonder what they will discover?
  21. Is the demo really as bad as I think it is?

Okay, I played the demo. I'll be nice... it's just not my cup of tea. Okay, now I'll be blunt... it was really dumb. It's really difficult to navigate, and you can barely place anything due to all of the "locked" bull. If there's a cheatcode that allows you to bypass that in the final version I might reconsider But really, I hate having to use pre-made maps, even the maps in Societies were randomly generated (which IMO is better than just some pre-made map) Also, it seems to me this game is less about pretty cities and more about strategy... and I'm the kind of person who likes to make pretty cities.
  22. Is the demo really as bad as I think it is?

Maybe it's just me, but it is complicated as heck to navigate around... it's like, when I want to scoot the camera over a little bit, all of a sudden I fly over to the other side of the map! Another concern I have is if you can choose what style of buildings you want in the town... because honestly... Parisian W2w buildings and Suburban houses do not mix very well.
  23. Screenshots (Pre-Release)

Sounds alot like what EA did with The Sims 3 and the Sims 3 store, however there is alot of custom content for Ts3 already... even new meshes. Ugh, Monte Cristo is really screwing the pooch on this game.
  24. The Emirates Golf Club

Oooooh *stares at ponds for a long period of time* Where did you get those? They're beautiful. I also like those pretty mansions along the golf course :D
  25. San Lorenzo Overview - Lawrence Island

Schulmanator: Thanks for commenting! I wouldn't buy anything from them though Sky Guy: lol Thanks!! Ny24: Thank you! Equilibria: Thanks, I have a tendency to make my cities dense and tiny. I guess I just like more stuff in smaller space
