I must have missed this update while I was on vacation, what a lovely recreation. I really want to go to Budapest again some time, it is such a beautiful city.

so I get back from my vacation to see what's up on Simtropolis... and I see this. Amazingness!!

I second what simcityguru said... only if I had enough money. Your pictures are very nice!

Weecaeks: Actually, all I did was switch the computer's calendar date to Dec 25th, and then load the game. There's an easter egg in the game where if you play it on Christmas day, the higher elevation areas get covered in snow.

Your avenues and boulevards are very pretty. I love the one with the arch

San Lorenzo is a city located in the state of New Loreto, on the island of Stratford. It is the largest city in the state and main industrial center as well. It is the busiest city and most prosperous city, along with being known for it's multi-cultural style. Points of Interest: Globe Square, a plaza in the middle of downtown with a monument to world peace The Walsworth Tower, the city's tallest historic skyscraper and the city's main symbol Little Italy, a district of older buildings that is filled with Italian restaurants and shops Mr. Shrimp's Pier, with plenty of amusements, a ferris wheel, and Lighthouse Museum St. Lawrence Cathedral, a neo-Gothic style church in downtown Museum Park, with the Natural History Museum Dundee Beach, located north from the city, is widely popular with surfers despite the frigid waters Above: The Walsworth Tower, located in downtown San Lorenzo. Stereotypically speaking, the average San Lorenzino is busy, easily irritable, and weary of people from California. The city is affectionately (or pejoratively) refered to as "the bastard child of Chicago and San Francisco". As a city, they are considered fussy and stubborn. The people tend to not to be pompous, but rather self confident in a more subtle way. They tend to like Alternative or Classic rock music and also sitcoms. They have a sense of culture and enjoy art, even though they don't like to admit it in fear of appearing too "artsy". Unlike their golf-playing ritzy Shaston counterparts, Lorenzinos are generally down to earth and frugal with their money. Above: Chinatown The city, culturally speaking, is a melting pot of different cultures... with Chinatown and Little Mesias being the largest ethnic neighborhoods. The downtown area was home to many Irish and Italian americans and the Gardenvale district has a large population of African-american and Latino people. Overall, the city doesn't have any prejudice against outside cultures, except California of course. For some reason San Lorenzinos have a strange paranoid obsession with California, constantly thinking that the state is out to get them. This is likely due to past conflicts between the states, and also because of the recent influx of Californians moving to San Lorenzo for the cheaper real-estate. Above: First Presbyterian Church in Downtown. As for religion, the majority of people in San Lorenzo are Christian (of various denominations), with many Jews and Buddhists as well. For Christians, Protestant denominations make up the majority, with Catholics coming in second and growing faster with the increase of Hispanics in the area. Greek Orthodox churches are common in the St. Raphael area, where there is also a substantial population of people from the Balkans such as Serbians, Croatians, etc. Judaism is also a prominent religion in the city, with many synagogues throughout the city. Buddhism can also be found mostly near the Chinatown area, although the majority of Buddhists are actually of South-East Asian heritage. There are also a lot of Muslims in the city, most of whom are of Lebanese and Palestinian heritage. That's all for the intro. Opekoi is a small ski resort town in the mountains near the state capital, Redwood. The small town is located near an Indian reservation for the Ukalit tribe, which has a massive casino. This town was founded by white settlers, although it was given a Ukalit name. The oldest building is the St. James School, built by Dominican priests who wanted to convert the local native population. The main attraction in the town however would have to be the skiing. Higher up on the mountain is the Opekoi Ski Resort, which has a hotel and provides ski & snowboard rentals as well as a chairlift service (which comes free for hotel guests). That was just a short update of the town I wanted to show. Merry Christmas, Hannukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid, or whatever celebration you are celebrating this holiday season! Also, I think I'm going to go through a purge in my old updates. I plan on updating this CJ, but I'd rather it didn't get too cluttered with older updates. I thought about making an entirely new CJ, but I wouldn't want to have more than 2 CJs on a similar theme. I essentially wanted to make a story-like city journal of San Lorenzo. Maybe I'll just start a new "story" style CJ for San Lorenzo, like I did with Shaston City. I'd call it "News from San Lorenzo" about the news broadcasters in the city. Or maybe I can just add it onto this journal. Oh I don't know.

My question is... shouldn't parents be watching what their kids eat, instead of relying on other people to do that job for them? I think the problem may be that many parents are too busy and instead rely on just dropping their kids in front of the TV to have Hannah Montana teach them life lessons. It just seems like a lot of parents don't even care about their kids anymore. I understand having to work hard to make enough money for your kids, but come on... this is San Francisco we're talking about! Well, those hybrid cars are expensive... (I probably should have specified that!) Sky Guy: Thanks for the support! I don't know if I will make a seperate CJ for the city though... it seems like there wouldn't really be enough to show. I think instead I'll just make a series of updates on this CJ instead.

First off, the news from San Lorenzo... but first.... as of now, any references of "New Cholula" are officially now supposed to mean "New Loreto"... I switched the name because New Loreto sounds a little better IMHO. Someone requested that I show how I make "satellite" view maps. So I thought, what the heck! I'll make a little guide. This is the first real guide I've made, so if it isn't too good just tell me. I'll let you go ahead with the pretty detail-adding part. I hope that tutorial was helpful and useful... if not then... well, I'll try better next time. Anyways, the main reason for this update was to show some *minor* adjustments to Shaston City... below is a picture of the new skyline... not much different but with a couple new buildings. And some wealthy subdivisions... That's all for this update. I'm also planning on maybe making a "spin-off" type of journal based more on Shaston City.
