A SimCity that existed before the PC
DavidB_ replied to ArchangelMichael's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Weren't some 'model settlements' used for military training? How much for one of these Welcome to THE DAB_City! -
ORIGINE3 - How can we rectify this issue as a community?
DavidB_ replied to Bipin's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Aha, I understand now, cleverly worded it was... They never said that the 25% off could be used against SimCity 2013, and it will almost certainly expire before February next year. -
ORIGINE3 - How can we rectify this issue as a community?
DavidB_ replied to Bipin's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Why does the game have to be so expensive, I can't afford the game AND a PC upgrade! Good luck with trying to find a valid promo code -
That is EXPENSIVE! I hope that the game lives up to it's price tag...

Looks Like We Need to Start a Simtropolis Guild
DavidB_ replied to tomfoolery_79's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Good on EA/Maxis [the developers] then, as long as we can still use our ol' 'Revert to Saved' trick if something or another goes wrong in a city -
Looks Like We Need to Start a Simtropolis Guild
DavidB_ replied to tomfoolery_79's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Ideally, players should be able to play their cities 'offline', and upload it through the game to SimCity.Com for others to admire (think City Journals but fully exploreable). Furthermore, if the uploader so desires, they could allow other players to download individual cities, or possibly even edit it on the server. This could be further expanded to allow an uploader to choose which other players can see or edit individual cities, e.g. for collaborations. With built-in voice chat, of course! Anyway, in reference to the actual topic, it sounds like a good idea. I'm in, so long as I have upgraded my PC by February 2013 or whenever. Roadgeeks forever! @tomfoolery_79: I can empathise with you, none of my friends are likely interested in pursuing the art of realistic city simulation, nor would they allow me to talk their ears off about 'boring' roads and railways. At least I'm aiming to make it a career! -

Does the DVD have to be inserted whenever playing SimCity 4?
DavidB_ replied to demvox's topic in SC4 Mac Users
It's a file which, when you double-click (open) it, acts like a CD or DVD. I'm sure that somebody here could explain how to make one from the SimCity Deluxe disc. -
Show us your Budget (not max cash, but budget)

How high are the taxes?! Nice idea for a thread though -
@rweather5: Nice work there, but bridges carry power (on-board cables I guess), so you don't actually need the power line!

Stick to your current region, I have found it can be just a tad more tedious and boring when designing cities around transport, not transport around cities. But limit the use of your godly powers, I managed to go from a very healthy §10,000,000 to nothing in one city! Thumbs up if I should 'NAMise" this region
Uploading a re-lot of someone else's work is fine, and does not need permission. The original content just needs to listed as a dependency, and not included in the file, (as in this case) unless direct permission has been obtained from the original batter to include their model.
Oh... I thought you would have to get permission as well as list a dependency. Thanks for clearing it up! Nice station btw

Since the EA SimCity 4 website has been shut down, this tool is proving useful for all SimCity users now... Zelgadis, you'll need to transfer the files elsewhere if and when you upgrade to iCloud though.

Leaving it running for several hours? Now that's an interesting idea, as long as you don't need to worry about funding, in-game safety etc. My record for Sim residents is only 130,000 or so... But it's over 9000!

^ Thumbs up for trying And I can't afford all those many monitors... Or a good enough computer to do all that!

What would you name the new SimCity?
DavidB_ replied to I. Lostalim's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Actually, I'm really starting to lean towards "SimCity X"... That would be so cool! -
I've seen enough acceleration/deceleration ramps of a similar size to those, including on the UK A1 road around Peterborough and Stamford. However, there looks to be enough space for most of them to be lengthened. A potential rebuild project?

The United Cities*4th Birthday and Retirement!*
DavidB_ replied to nathanthemayor's topic in SC4 City Journals
I've done a massive railyard (with brick depot buildings, no props yet like yours) for main line stopping and intercity (long-distance) services, as well as for a metro system. I can only just make out the through route on yours though! -
COUGHCOUGH A14 in the UK, substandard four lanes of weaving long-distance HGVs competing with local travel and houses on slip roads. The village Lolworth only has one way out: A14! I dread to think of the results when the A14 is slow... Ditto here when I began with RHW in my first region, I shoved it in where I had the space. Oh, and that reminds me of one of my old MHW junctions Moskva!

Chemeketa: Wallace Road NW Widening
DavidB_ commented on Tarkus's City Journal Entry in Tarkusian Cities
Why did you have to demolish the store?! Oh, and there were cars on the dirt road in the first pic. Great update as always though! -
I would rather label the key with "Station" and "Interchange station", but a nice start there
