I and a fellow Cities Skylines fan have brainstormed about how to make a league by connecting Cities Skylines players into a universe. We’ll look at your city to define the region and proximity to other cities. From there the fun begins! You devise a team name, logo, etc. or consult with us for help. You have unlimited possibilities from there, you can either run your team or defer having things simulated for you. Have you and your friends built cities? Well, create a “state” together. What we’ll need when the time comes… City name (and region if applicable): Team Name: Stadium Name: A Brief Description About Your City (Industry, Import and Exports, Population, etc.): Link to picture(s) of your city: Link to picture(s) of your stadium: Make your bustling economic powerhouse city an athletic one as well! I had a crazy idea so I thought I would bring it here. I love both SimCity and Cities Skylines and have played them for years with varying degrees of success. With that being said, I had a thought about creating a fictional nation/world featuring cities big and small from around the Cities Skylines/SimCity universe. I have been playing City building games for a few years and have been reading many of the City Journals on here and am always fascinated by some of the back stories so I came up with what I think is a neat idea but I don't want to take the time and effort to do it if nobody is interested. The nation would have a history, demographics, possibly religions, each city could have its own page on the community with its own history, demographics, businesses, etc. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but am just getting a feel for if anyone would want to be a part of it. Please let me know.

Fictional Fandom Nation Using Cites: Skylines
jalue2002 posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I don't know if this is the right place to post this. If it isn't, I apologize and feel free to move it to the appropriate board. I have been playing City building games for a few years and have been reading many of the City Journals on here and am always fascinated by some of the back stories so I came up with what I think is a neat idea but I don't want to take the time and effort to do it if nobody is interested. I thought it would be kind of cool to create a fictional nation on Fandom with Cities from Cities: Skylines being part of the nation. The nation would have a history, demographics, possibly religions, each city would have its own section within the community, sports leagues, etc. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but am just getting a feel for if anyone would want to be a part of it. -
I have ben trying to build a region similar to the ones I grew up around. Ones where you have a developed "Urban" area with farm land around it, small industrial parks on the edge of town with highways and county roads connecting to other developed areas (Towns). Everytime I try to do this on SC4, it always ends up looking bad. What is the best way to develop this type of region? I want the cities to grow naturally.

1) The ability to have special events in your city. Like music festivals and community festivals that you can actually see on screen. They can increase traffic on city streets, increase revenue for the city, etc. 2) More distinct neighborhoods. Each neighborhood within the city would have it's own look and feel. You can set the parameters for the neighborhood and only certain people and businesses could be located there. Think Greenwich Village or Chinatown. Two completely different areas with their own feel and look. 3) More ordinances. SC4 was kind of low on them. Real cities have tons of them and so should SC5. 4) A little more control over what builds where. Instead of just plopping commercial zones down on a highway and hoping a shopping center pops up, allow the player to pinpoint the area for retail, office, etc. 5)Road construction. Allow road construction to be more realistic. Instead of just building it off the bat, allow it to build over time and have detours for the sims.

Perfectionists should NOT play this game. Lol.

I actually grew a semi-realistic city with a 32kp pop in a week.
Its actually far more realistic if you let the city grow itself.

What re-ignites your city building fire?
jalue2002 replied to jalue2002's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Milwaukee isn't too bad. I'd never live there but I'm not a big city person. Love visiting and seeing the sights but after a few days it's time to get out. -

I wish you luck with that. I thought about it too but I'm too much of a perfectionist and would probabaly cost whatever city I was in loads of money because I'd change my mind 20 times. If you ever need an assistant, ring me up -
What re-ignites your city building fire?
jalue2002 replied to jalue2002's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The area I live in is pretty rural. We have a few medium sized cities around (65,000-75,000) so going to a city of half a million and seeing how the city is set up in different neighborhoods and ethnic backgrounds fascinates me and I get the urge to create it myself. More of a creative thing for me. -
I don't know about all of you, but I'm one of those people that plays a game for a while then goes and plays something else for a while and so on and so forth. For me it's usually something that gets me playing a game again. My latest stint at playing Sim City 4 was reignited by a trip to Milwaukee (Yes I'm from Wisconsin, don't look down on me . After seeing the city and the neighborhoods, I got the itch to play again. So I was just wondering what it is that reignites your fire to play again?

River City: Clean and Pristine
jalue2002 commented on SockoJr53's City Journal Entry in Trentonburg and the Manahasset Bay
Quick question. I'm still kinda learning this game and have tried different ways of playing it and am no interested in doing the more rural region with the towns/villages/cities dispersed. My question is how do you start the region? Do you just zone all the area with farmland first and then build the towns or do u build from scratch?
