About two years ago I decided to get into a modern, realistic city building game. The last time I did this was in the early '90-s with SC1. I went to Wikipedia's chronology list on city building games, and started to go backwards from the most recent ones. I kept skipping them: war simulation, transport simulations, middle ages, sci-fi, etc.. This is how I got to SC4, and I'm still happy playing it. Right now with SimCity 2013 in the list, I would still choose SC4. I wish I was wrong and SC5 will be better then it sounds now, though I'm skeptic about it.

How to make DAMN not to deactivate after plopping?
Kultag replied to Kultag's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yeah, thanks, though I don't think I'll start learning it. I hope someone who have done it could give some advice like "download this editor, open this file, and overwrite the value at this address to this value". -
How to make DAMN not to deactivate after plopping?
Kultag posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi! I've got tons of downloaded plugins, and I've DAMN-ed them using SSP. What would make DAMN even more productive is if it wouldn't deactivate itself after you click on a menu item to plop it. Some people wrote on SC4D that they did this modification themselves, but there was no answer there on how they did this exactly. The original post only mentiond modifiying the LUA script. As you might guess, I barely have any idea what does that mean. Can anybody describe a solution, please? (Or point to where it was described, I couldn't find anything here or at SC4D.) Thanks. -

Coast Desirability Increaser Hi! So this is the general BAT request thread... I'm requesting BATs that would increase the desirability of coasts. Coasts should be more attractive than inland (see Palm Jumeira), but this is not implemented in SC4 and to my knowledge there's no mod so far that would do this. The execution of this function should be IMO something that can be placed into the sea, and would have landmark effect. Maybe it should have other effects too. It should be free to place and maintain or at least cost little. I'm not sure if it should be visible (a buoy or seagulls e.g.) or invisible. It should be a pack with a few ranges, like 5 tiles for rivers, 10 for bays and 30 for coasts. You could place these around the shore line, and the high wealth development would be motivated to move to the coasts and banks. Opinions?

I will have to do that printing stuff, just to see, what's lost. I will try to find out what blocks what. If I'll have a figure what percentage is gone, I might come back here and share it. Thanks again for the info.

Thanks. So there aren't even some sorts of ID's which I could change with something like ILive Reader or LE? Could such conflicts cause stability problems for the game, like slowing it down or CTD?

Hi! I've downloaded gigabytes of plugins for SC4, and during testing I found that some plugins extinguish each other. E.g. there are two downloads, each of them work when I put them into the Plugins folder separately, but when both of them are there, only one of them shows up in the menus of the game. My questions: 1. What causes this? 2. Is there a tool with which I could automatically detect such conflicts without me needed to print out all the plugin folders' name and tick them out when I find them in the game? 3. How can such conflicts be solved? Thanks in advance.
