1. Road Roundabout Texture Mod

A nice touch to any city, many thanks!
2. Yes, I would love to see a picture of your city as well, especially how and where you put your commercial zones! (Among the residents? Or separately? Something else?) Do they get good traffic thru them? What about Land Value? (I could keep this up for pages, lol)
3. Up until a year ago I had problems with R$$$ abandonment as well, occasionally R$$ too, until I found this great post by Toroca: [ http://www.simphoni....?showtopic=6813 ] So, taking the fact that middle and high wealth sims tend to replace the poor too much into account... R$ 5000 14% R$$ 25000 72% R$$$ 5000 14% You have too many R$$, possibly R$$$, and too few poor sims. The rich cannot survive by themselves, since the workplaces they make demand for don't offer enough jobs for them. Even if R$ only works low jobs, they still provide much needed demand for I-M, Co, I-HT, etc, IF they are well educated. These jobs then can be occupied by R$$ and up. What you need to do is raise taxes for R$$ and R$$$ ABOVE the neutral 9% rate, so they can chase less poor sims out of town. I usually have my residential taxes at 9%, 9.2%, 9.4% for wealths respectively, then raise them later if I see more zots. Then you could bulldoze some of those abandoned mansions, and zone high density to get a few low-wealth apartemnt buildings, then wait for a few years to get them smart again. Good Luck!! (This tax raising worked so far for me. Right now I'm playing a town of 40,000, and have a strong Co demand. Now I just need to be patient, No Traffic can be a powerful business deterrent. So can congestion... Ugh...) Assuming you mean R$, not only they cannot build where richer sims live, they seem to be slower to move into your city when there's great demand for higher wealth sims too. Otherwise, if you put zones (medium-high density) in places that are the most preferable to rich sims (Yes, the game looks there first for new development even for the poor), or cover the location with services (to make it a good spot), it's only a matter of time 'till apartments pop up. (Up to about 6 months) Not directly, no. But adding those facilities raises the poor's education over time, then adding I-M and more commercials when needed gets demand for the rich people to move in, who in turn force out the poor but educated sims, if they are allowed to - hence the need for higher tax rates to discourage such overdevelopment. (The "Stay Out until you're needed" policy, lol)
4. Japanese Walls Set

Great addon! Thanks for sharing. Here's an easier to read translation of the above description for those who need it:
Hello all you good mayors! This is my second post. I made a few simple LOT sets, that are designed like walls "popular in Japan". There are 2 Lot-sets in this work, you can choose the one you like. 1) "JPN Walls - All design" You can install and use one or more of the 5 wall sets in a given city at once, however the more you use, the more icons will appear in the menu in-game. 2) "JPN Walls - One design" Only 1 type of wall can be used at once in a city - the one you install. But few new icons appear in Parks menu.
The rest is pretty straightforward I believe. Just copy the core .dat files and the desired lots from either of these sets. (ONLY one of them) They are structured pretty well into folders in the downloaded .zip file. I hope this helps a bit.
5. Network Addon Mod (NAM) - Cross-Platform

First let me say thank you for keeping up on this project even after all these years. NAM really is the most useful mod, ever. I experienced a few problems though: -1) With this version, loading a fresh, undeveloped medium sized city tile takes almost 2 minutes after game startup. By itself it's not a problem, but peculiar, as my previous NAM didn't slow down the loading process. (W/out NAM it takes 15 secs) -2) The tram-on-street puzzle piece, "Straight GLR-on-T Street, transition to GLR" is completely missing its paths (checked with drawpaths cheat) for some reason and doesn't work. -3) Some Avenue/Road intersections have issues with pedestrians crossing through them in certain ways. Example: on Diagonal Ave X Straight Road, peds can't cross the road on one side of the Ave. -4) I have the latest SAM installed. Is it compatible? There are a few Street X Rail textures missing for the sand street. Did you guys encounter some of these? Please help.
6. I noticed that effect of trees on development myself. Whenever I want some high-density buildings in new zones (usually residential), I simply plant about 100$ worth of trees on said zones, and voila, insta-growth!
7. Make a bigger difference TREES!

This approach works very well with low city detail setting in gfx menu, but not so much on higher gfx quality, then there's no real free space on lots due to props. I used to plant trees all the time like this, back when I thought that that advisor's message makes any difference (silly me... ) Anyway... to me: RH + NAM + Industry X4 + Stupid News Filter + Schools & Parks == WIN I often use trees from a tree-mod, but only for aestetic purposes.
8. Creating Straight Edged Coastlines, Canals, and Ports

Awesomely creative usage of those hol diggers and slope mod! Cheers!
9. Keep SC4 running smoothly; General Tips & Tricks

One more process that should never be killed: Sched.exe, the windows process scheduler. I also would recommend not to kill any antivirus processes, because disableing any real-time protections should be enough (maybe? Hehe) BTW, if you have auto-update on, be mindful of that.
10. Recover your lost Sc4 Installation ID by swat-medic

This is very useful, I imagine a lot of people lose their game manual, where the SN is printed on its back cover. I've seen a few homes where multiple children live. LONG LIVE CHAOS!
11. back from hiatus...

12. Get your Maxis files here!

Thanks a bunch, your mirror site proved invaluable to me, now that the official (old) simcity4 site is no more.
13. beach shore

Hello Guys! Sorry for reviving this old thread, but after hours of searching the net, this is the only place I found. I'm having the same problem as Airdnasira, but more. This graphic corruption occurs whenever I click any dataview (like Police, Traffic, Health, etc). But the cherry on the cake is that whenever, however I save the city, this glitch appears and ruins the Region View. I can't build large beaches without having a fugly region afterwards. My game version is 1.1.640.0 and European (left-hand drive). I wonder if others have this same problem, or only so far as QuantumEagle described? Edited 17 Jan.: I've tried using software rendering, but the result was the same. I was hoping it was a conflict with my videocard, but now I'm sure it's hardcoded and probably can't be helped.
14. 007's Bat Thread

Very nice!!
15. 007's Bat Thread

Hmm, Since the building is 'worn down', is it possible / a good idea to add a few cracks in the walls to the brown half, and perhaps some worn down or faded paintjob to the green-ish half? Or a graffity?
