HWDSB - Board of Education http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2028/2432712144_b2cb49561f.jpg?v=0 http://imagebin.ca/view/Nq0CRmV.html http://imagebin.ca/view/CAL4NH.html http://imagebin.ca/view/n9B9ng.html Description: A board of education building. A centralized location for the facilitation of education over a region of land. Quick Facts Total number of schools Elementary: 96 Secondary: 18 Total number of students Elementary: 34,305 Secondary: 18,535 Total number of staff Academic: 6,235 Business and Support: 1,066 Students traveling by bus: 16,000 Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: A slight increase to the school bus radius and a slight increase to education, but at the cost of running the facility. Perhaps a requirement of having X connected regions, the city hall, the main library, the major art museum, and so on. It's not a school, it's not a library, it's not a museum, but it's good for education. If you need more pictures, let me know and I'll see what I can find. Thanks in advance to whomever takes on this request.

BAT - Troubleshooting & General Discussion
jb2010 replied to Jasoncw's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Originally posted by: SimFox This thread is not about the "bats" (or final, ready custom content) but about the BAT program itself - (building Architect tool - one that makes said custom content).quote> Sorry, FNG. Maybe a moderator would be kind as to move it to the proper place. Also saying "it (omnibus) makes reference" is same as saying nothing... It is way to vague. Omnibus is a rather large collection of tutorials written in a quite long stretch of time by numerous contributors... Whenever you ask some particular question it should either be totally self contained (include all relevat info right there) or be accompanied with a direct link to such a material. Otherwise the chances are you'll not get answer, or "to the point" answer.quote> Okay. How to Install STEX BATs, Lots and Maps Q I see all the props on a downloaded lot from the STEX, but the building, why is this happening? A This is simply because you are missing the building and vechicle props from the official maxis site, you can find those here, and here.quote> See, no links. I tried the maxis site and got nowhere. So, do I need these or not? Thanks -
BAT - Troubleshooting & General Discussion

Before I go installing BAT lots from the STEX, I thought I'd read the omnibus. It made reference to a buildings and vehicles props download, which was linked, but these links appear to have been removed. Do I still need these files, and where can I get them? Thanks -
Which Canadian City do you think is the best??

how do you get your DEM data? i've been looking for data for the hamilton area for a couple days now with little success. thanks

adding this to your shortcut works equally as well... -CPUCount:1 -CPUPriority:high

Official Mapping Community Requests - Take Two

Sounds good. Take a gander. (Stuff is on the left because I changed it back to see if LHD would make a difference.) Thanks again

They drive on the right. (They were on the left until I did the stuff in the omnibus) I'm pretty stumped. It's not like the city is very big either. They're just lazy. edit: one thing I noticed with NAM, is that the populous doesn't really use the road anymore, everyone jumps on the subway, with the exception of a small few people and freight trucks (didn't put in any freight rail yet).

After installing NAM and Sim Z (I tried medium and ultra) to combat traffic problems, I'm having a lot of problems with abandonment (commute) on everything, R C and I. I didn't have any problems like that before installing NAM (I have no other plugins), so I'm wondering if I did something wrong. Zoning is good, and so is mass transit. I even tried changing zoning density, and mixing C into my R zones. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi there, Is there an easier way to find the exact center of a city, for things like highway/rail placement? I just found out that the cities I was working on were off-center and now I have to start over because I couldn't get my rails past the cloverleaf. Thanks
-
that should work okay, but i would put avenues along the center lines, they have more capacity than roads. the avenues are also where i stick my civics, it takes congestion off the roads.
-
This is what I've been using... It will take longer before you get the traffic warnings, but you can help that too by adding public transit.
-
I usually use 4x4 squares with roads, then surrounded by avenues... tie the avenues into highways and rails... certainly isn't cost efficient to go into region play right away, but when money is no issue, the sky is the limit.

I was trying to save + return to region when SC4D (+patch, no mods) decided to sit and lag. It did eventually come back, but to only reveal that my city had become a hole in the region map. After that happened, I can't go back into the city because I can't click on it. Loading the city in another slot results in the same thing, a hole in the ground. I have a feeling the city file got corrupted somehow, but is there a way I can get my city back? Thanks edit: Nuts, this seems to be a common problem, with no solution.

My city turned into a hole in the ground
jb2010 replied to jb2010's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I play using the default settings (fullscreen), and wasn't doing anything else at the time. Some of the threads I linked suggested closing all unneeded applications, so I'll try that, but I think I'm going to avoid using the save+return option, and save it then exit the city manually. edit: The thing that bugs me the most about the bug, is that the city's population is still accounted for in the region figure, and the connected utilities still operate. So it wasn't a complete save fail, possibly just the parts pertaining to terrain. -
Legalize gambling and build a casino. Or build some water treatment plants, I find they tend to raise crime.

How long is the longest you've had to wait for SC4 to save a city?

I'd rather lose half an hour of zoning than lose the save file to corruption and wind up deleting the entire region. To each their own I guess. -
Is there enough data to make a broken savefile fixer?
