EA voted the worst company in America
Stuart98 replied to snake117's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
As someone in the comments of the pax article said, " Again, measure the good those companies do in America vs how they treat the *consumer.* Remember, that's what this is about - consumers. EA is profoundly anti-consumer, and they treat their paying customers the worst. What other company does that? What other company makes press releases mocking people that complain about them? I never saw Comcast do that. I never saw Ticketmaster do that. That is why they are a bad company. That is why they are the Worst Company - they refuse to see their own problems and correct them. Comcast has been trying for years to improve their customer service and image. EA just says #DealWithIt" -
I need to know will you get baned for modding

What's in the ecogames directory? So wait, the servers auto-rollback cities with reduced money costs or server moderators see strange effects at city G, and go, take a look at its history, find a mod used, and roll it back? -
Electronic Arts' city-building simulation SimCity has its first sponsored item, thanks to Nissan. Available for download starting today is the Nissan Leaf Charging Station, a free in-game add-on that — in addition to letting Sims drive licensed electric cars — adds "happiness to nearby buildings" and produces no pollution.

Hey all, it’s Chris Schmidt, a Tuning Designer here at Maxis. It’s been a while since I posted a blog, but today I am here to talk to you all about road layout. I have received a lot of feedback from folks about suggestions to road guides, and asking for advice on how best to lay out roads in your cities, so I will compile my thoughts on the matter here. While each city site has its own unique challenges, I’d like to share a couple of my layouts from my favorite region, Reflection Atoll, and give some general advice on how to make the most of your layouts. In general, I tend to like gridded cities, as they offer the best format to allow your city to grow as it prospers. But there is something to be said for the use of curved roads to strategically make use of sections of the city that would otherwise not be well utilized, or to avoid intersections at corners so your traffic doesn’t have to slow down. Additionally, I find that while avenues are nice for allowing more traffic to flow along them, and of course for streetcars, the tradeoff of taking twice as much space is really only worth it for main thoroughfares. By effectively using busses and managing building facing though strategic road upgrades, thin roads can be significantly more effective at managing your traffic than avenues. Would someone make this? It wouldn't exactly be considered a cheat because we'd still have to spend just as much money to get the new division and use what is unlocked by it. -

So that's where that mysterious patch of radiation came from... Lizard: Eats anything and everything. He'll walk all the way accross the map to get to you. Zombies: Do nothing for me. Earthquake: Very localized, high damage though. UFO: Imma clueless kid here. Meteor: Not too bad except for the radiation. Tornado: See earthquake, insert random area of destruction. -
I experienced this problem a few days ago. All of my casinos suddenly started making 1/5 of their normal profits. My train station was bringing in 1/5 of the tourists that it had the day before.

EA's Peter Moore vows to 'do better' in response to 'worst company in America' poll
Stuart98 commented on Freddyeddy's article in News
Really? Yes they're pretty darn bad and very easy to hate, but when you compare them to the financial institutions (BoA, etc.) whose blatant lies and fraudulent activities have crippled people financially and ruined real lives-not to mention throwing the entire economy off a cliff-it's kind of hard to take such a claim seriously. If EA were a huge bank, would they mess up more or less than BoA and co? -

Grade School or High School, Which to Choose ?
Stuart98 replied to JimCityBuilder's topic in SimCity (2013) Showcase
It should be noted somewhere in that post that the Vu Tower will raise industrial level to level 3. Note that your city only has a population of about 25k. That number is fudged. -

^ That's what I do. Also, if you have the French Police Station, you should use it over the normal one, and, if you're rolling in cash, maybe even over precincts. The french patrol cars go faster than the normal ones. -
Streets or avenues to make a big city? what should you use?
Stuart98 replied to bigmummylover's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I just got rid of the fudged numbers to fix that problem. Only problem now is that while all of the buildings updated their requirements for the non fudged numbers, the achievements didn't. Somehow I'm doubting that I'll be getting anything other than suberbia any time soon... -
Sydney Morning Herald - Digital Life: I have a love/hate relationship with the new SimCity. In many ways it is a masterpiece of modern gaming technology, and I find it extraordinarily addictive. In other ways, it is a horribly broken piece of garbage and I hate it. I realise these two attitudes may seem irredeemably contradictory, so allow me to run through some of the pros and cons of this vastly entertaining train wreck of a game. Streets or avenues to make a big city? what should you use?
Stuart98 replied to bigmummylover's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Let's have a look at road lanes: Dirt Road: 1 (sewage leaks from it, not sure what other differences it has from the 2 lane road, it acts like it has two to me) LD Street: 2 MD Street: 4 (medium density support, np traffic lights) HD Street: 4 (high density support means increased traffic, traffic lights) MD Avenue: 4 (medium density support, traffic lights) HD Avenue: 6 (high density support means increased traffic, traffic lights) HD SC Avenue: 6 (+tram line) So a medium avenue is just as good as a medium street, but a high density avenue has to more lanes than its equivalent street. If the 50% lane increase matters a ton to you, just add a muni bus terminal. -

Wind is cheap and is a space pig no matter you suit it up with that produces little power. Solar is more expensive and is a space pig without concentrated arrays, but once you have them, you can produce 30 an array and the arrays take up about as much space as a level one wind turbine.
