  4. NAM General Support

remove boot.ini and rename boot.ini.bak to boot.ini. This should solve your problem. (This is documented in the installer.) Worked like a charm. Thank you Z1. I'll have to take time to read through things more carefully in the future.
  5. NAM General Support

Hello all, I'm having a problem with my computer and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the NAM. I had this exact same problem months ago (sometime after installing NAM 31.2) which resulted in my having to reformat my computer. Since reformatting I have had no issues until now. After reformatting and installing SC4 I'm pretty sure I installed NAM 31.1, everything ran just fine. Yesterday I installed NAM 31.2. Today when I start my computer I am getting the same errors I had months ago and I can only run my computer in safe mode. The error mentions something about insufficient security rights. As I recall during installation of the NAM it mentioned something about having to temporarily take control of system administrator rights during the installation. Could this be a cause of my problems? I am running XP, SC4 is fully patched.

  7. Show us Your Interchanges!

I love looking at everyone's pictures here for inspiration. What do you all think of this, will it work?
  8. Show us Your Interchanges!

Thank you T Wrecks! Yes I need to take the time to find some nice trees to use around my towns.
  9. Show us Your Interchanges!

This is my first real attempt at RHW. Its a lot of work but I'm starting to like it a lot. I just hope tunnels will be possible some day...
  10. Show Us Your Photos!

I took them in Berchtesgaden, Germany. Its near Salzburg. BTW great pics everyone. I loved looking through them.
  11. Show Us Your Photos!

These are from one of my favorite spots in the world.
  12. A Martian Colony - the rocket of no return.

Doesn't anyone remember the movie Biodome with Pauly Shore? I was thoroughly convinced this technology is proven.
  13. I like to envision my freeway layouts ahead of time. But first I build only a 2 lane road in its place connecting numerous small towns in my region. As my towns grow and the traffic between them increases, I upgrade the high traffic roads to freeways with exits where the intersections were. This helps enchorage me to expand the region before my main city becomes too developed. And since freeways cost much more to manitain, this makes great fiscal sense too. I like to build railroads early as well since they're so cheap.
  14. Simtropolis Religion Thread

I do not base my religious beliefs on the authority of the church. The church is entirely people, and people are flawed sinners. Thats the whole point of Christianity, we are all sinners and need salvation. I base my religious beliefs on the Bible, my own personal experiences, and history, but mostly faith. Faith is our best tactic for growth and dicovering the truth, as individuals and for mankind as a whole. There is far too much to learn and take in from this universe. We will never 'know it all' or 'figure it all out' someday. My own experience is that I first must believe, then God works in my life. As far as a basis for issues of right and wrong, the Bible is the best source of truth. I used to think consuming alhohol was sinful. However after reading verses that supposedly supported this belief, I determined that they actually pertained to gluttony, and I decided that alhohol is not morally wrong. Rather, gluttony is wrong. So I suppose the Bible and faith is what I base my beliefs on.
  15. Show us your Downtown!

From a region I've been working on for many years.
  16. 1880 Census

Great stuff!  I especially like the NAM diagonal engineerun'
  17. Anyone else lost interest?

I've gone back to SC4. I play simcity mostly to relax and have a creative outlet, yet still feel challenged. Since I cannot build my own region maps and the city tiles are so small I feel very limited playing the new SC. SC4 is relaxing and beautiful, the new SC is just downright stressfull...
  18. Grade School or High School, Which to Choose ?

So are you saying that once you build a high school you should turn off your grade school? This is so different from SC4 (and real life) where all levels of education should be provided.
  19. Here's a Dell I've been looking at for $699 3rd gen i7 processor with 8GB of ram I'm planning on buying something this year and so far this is the best deal I've found. http://www.dell.com/us/p/laptops.aspx?ref=usen-lt-tile#!facets=226291~0~14720665&p=1
  20. The NAM Team Presents... Dragable FAR

Awesome! 10 years and this game still has not gotten old. Thank you NAM team!
  21. landmarks wanted in SC2013

I've always wanted the Biltmore House. The architect who designed it was the same guy who designed central park.
  22. I noticed in one gameplay video that the budget was shown in $ per hour. Does this mean that there are no speed settings in the new game? When you played the game was the simulation simply turned on and off with a set speed, or were the settings slow, medium, and fast like in SC4?
  23. Frustrated with the no job icon bug

Install the NAM. The Z traffic simulator will take care of it.
  24. SimCity: Terraforming

I paid $20 dollars for SC4. Its safe to say that I have more than gotten my moneys worth since I've been playing it for I don't know how long. Its one of the best creative outlets I have. Therefore if I spent $60 on SC5 and it was a total waste I wouldn't feel bad about it at all. Even if I came back to SC4 exclusively. I just feel like I owe something back since I've loved SC4 so much for so many years. I'm giving SC5 a chance no matter what.
  25. "The 5,000 Year Leap"

I believe our Faith in Jesus Christ brought us out of the Dark Ages. Western Civilization consisted of nothing more than a whole continent of barbarians. It wasn't until we became Christians that we began to really develop. The introduction of Christianity into Europe cannot be overstated. If we ceased to be a Christian culture we would go right back to being barbarians as proven by events such as the holocaust. In 1492 the Spanish pushed the last muslims out of Europe, making the continent entirely Christian. That was the exact same year Christopher Columbus discovered North America. Not a coincidence. Maybe when we bring the whole world to Christ we will finally discover a new inhabitable planet somewhere in the universe.
