  1. SimCity: Now The Dust Has Settled

Good article, but you should have included some pictures from SC4 so your readers could actually see the differences and why many of us are so passionate about SC4.
  2. Meying II - The second view

Haha, sehr gut, und in der Sport Bild steht:" Deppenbacher verplempern Sieg am Blöden Berg" :)
  3. Getting rid of visitors

I got the same problem, twice. It all started when a regional airport was build next to my cities. My cities were unplayable after all the tourist came to visit my towns. My income dropped, mayor rating dropped, trading was slow and the garbage did pile up on the streets. You should wait a few days, this issue will be corrected in patch 2.0. At least they said so.. Oh, and maybe your tourist city is part of the problem. When the regional traffic works like everything else all visitors will go to the nearest sink on their way across the region, which will be your city.
  4. I wouldn't buy it again and i don't think i will like this game more after the patches. I will try it once in a while because maybe i'm wrong and SimCity will be great in a few month but i doubt it. It would be interesting to see how members < 2 years and members > 2 years have voted. Edit for being OT, to avoid a bumb and just to say thank you: Thanks MandelSoft, nice chart!
  5. 1.8 million sims!

The R only cities just work when there is no other real city in the region. It does however work when you create a R-Region. You can visit such a R-only region on the Test server, it's the one with the top population.
  6. is complexity always evil?

This is the reason why Maxis always called it a reboot After reading the polygon news i lost my hope that this game will ever be good. SimCity is 'working as intended'! It's sad
  7. These are old news, I don't see the 'reference to big maps', all i see is that you can build roads outside the city limit with the debug menu enabled.
  8. Soon, SimCity Update 1.9, and then?

Maybe these patches are numbered 1.1.1 -1.1.2 -...-1.1.9 -1.2.0 ? SC has great potential and i believe they will fix the game (and learn something of value!?). I'm not so sure about how this fixed SC will be but i think SC4 players will have to wait another year decade to get their game.
  9. gentleman's bet larger maps dlc or ep

With this AI and simulation behavior i'm not sure i want larger maps. What i want are adjacent maps, freely placable on existing regions or on self created regions. When the region stuff is fixed, the city size isn't important anymore because they then act as one city. Sharing resources, workers, education and services.
  10. Pedestrian Paths

The university roads pedestrian paths are working and placable in the whole city. A redditor build an amazing town with these paths. An extra option for different pedestrian paths in the road menu would be great thought.
  11. I did watch some trailers of the games and BF3 was my choice. I allready played it and i did survive like one minute in the first train mission. It was fun!
  12. SimCity Update: Straight Answers from Lucy

And to what Evil_One has said i would like to add that SC4 handles the graphic in ways no new computer can handle it. It has something to do with the way old graphic cards where programmed. They did talk about it in the first AMAA on reddit.
  13. EA CEO John Riccitiello Steps Down

    No, that was Mister frank-gibeau
  14. Free Game?

I think this is a nice gesture from EA/MAXIS and i am saying this without any sarcasm or irony (actually i don't know which word would be right in this situation ) . I'm not a gamer so except SC4 i don't have any of these games so for me this is like a 'buy one, get two' discount.
  15. There is a more detailed video from HalbyStarcraft on Youtube: So in order to cheat the pathfinding you need to build loops or cul de sacs.
  16. More AI atrocities

I think the agents don't get deleted when they find what they are looking for. The 'empty house' agent finds a worker and another worker,..., and every worker is heading to this one house. This could also be responsible for all the other traffic bugs. When there is a burning house, the 'find a firetruck' agents are send on their ways but when one agent arrives at the fire station the others won't be deleted. So all firetrucks are on their way to this one house and the 'find a firetruck' agents who are leftover are cruising along the streets until they find the same firetrucks allready sent to this house. The leftover agents are coming from a different direction so the fireman are circling around the block until newer / more agents from the house are arriving. So basically the pathfinding agents don't talk to each other.
  17. Building sets $9.99 each on Amazon

They also sell Hardcovers of the building sets at my local electronics shop. 9.99€ (~12.99$) for each set.
  18. I'm so mad right now..

Thanks for giving me a laught. I'm also very drunk pi****d right now. This is my first Online Only game, it shouldn't be one in the first place but i started Windows, installed Origin and installed SC. It took me 45 minutes (i usually don't run Windows except for games i don't play). All i got were: Server not available, no authentification, couldn't reclaim a city, ... , and while i waited i remembered the old and glorified C=64 times. You may had to wait 10 minutes to load a game but you could actually play the game, bugfree and with your friends in the same room. We were laughing at each other we were cheering at each other and we generally had a good time together. Now we all got connected with wifi, dsl and facebook and the more i think about it the less appyling it sounds to me.
  19. New Strategy Video

One Developer on the official Forum stated that the population number of 1090 wasn't correct. The green areas between buildings was probably due to gaming skills another dev has said and his city doesn't look so greenish inner-city. So these points are not really concerns. I also think the cities are looking bigger then what we saw before. I just don't understand why Maxis isn't going to make a real SC4-Style region. There just need do be an pop-up where the player needs to confirm the roads the neighboring city wants to lay out to connect the cities. It would also enhance the 'Work Together' maxime Maxis is pushing. What we have seen so far is looking quit good in my opinion. It's new and feels maybe a little bit uncomfortable with all the changes but when you look at SC without comparing it to SC4 this game could really be fun except this small separated towns. This just bothers me (and is also Off-topic, sorry)
  20. What if SimCity fails?

Because there is so much negativity in the forums that everyone is thinking that this game will suck? Joking aside, i think this game will succeed. The question is how long? SimCity is set in stone but when there is enough demand for proper region play and all the other things hardcore SC4 players demand we may have a chance to get some of these things in SimCity 2. Who knows? When SC fails this genre will be dead for another 10 years or maybe forever.
  21. Will you buy Simcity 2013?

I will give this game a chance. I'm really disapointed about the outcome from a SC4 players perspective but as a strategy game SimCity doesn't sound so bad. I just need to force myself not to think about SC4 when playing SC.
  22. A typical day of an agent: 05:00 Delivering water to the sims 05:30 Delivering electricity to the sims 06:00 Bring sim to work 06:30 Go walking with a homeless sim 07:00 Driving the ambulance 07:30 Get the kids to school [...] You see? When one agent has fulfilled it's purpose it can be used for other agent related stuff. The agent just have to unload the package at its destination and then it is free. The agent doesn't sit in school the whole day holding the kids hand, the school is another layer of the simulation. Once the package has delivered the agent is free. At least this is what i be thinking about the agent base simulation.
  23. ILL Tonkso's Review of SimCity

Does this include the micromanaging of hospitals, police stations, mass transit or power stations? Does the sentence "All that micromanaging is definitly in the game" refer to the taxes you mentioned a sentence before or to ill tonksos critique about the power station? Sorry if i´m nutpicking but this doesn´t seem clear to me.
  24. SimCity: Multiplayer Discussion

This really sounds nice and you can take it even further with the economics. When a sim wants to build a home or an industry/commercial building he has to take a loan from a bank and pay it back over time. So when you make bad decisions as a mayor and the sim has no job he can´t pay back his debt. When there are to many broke sims the bank will fail and ... you know how it ends. You can take it even so far that you have region ordinances and neighboring regions can join you. With more regions joining, the ordinance will be cheaper for all. But this wouldn´t be a Sim City game anymore it will be more like a Sim World game. I think when Maxis would have called the game SimWorld this forum would be much quieter because nobody knows what to expect from such a game. SC5 = SC4 + Glassbox (what most want) SimCity = Glassbox + MMO + SC4 (what we get=SimWorld?)
  25. +10000000000 get rid of that ugly blemish now please. I can already see it will be useless. Oh come on, it´s a smiley! We all love Smilies, don´t we?
