Steppenwolf SimMartians use a lot the railroads, but some speedways can be useful as well. This picture shows all the mayor colonies of Eden: The new frontier, plus the new speedway network. And here we can see the map of the colonies. The cyan dots shows the places where the next pictures takes place. Before the trip, let me warm you for something. There are no one ways, avenues, N.A.M. parts and R.H.W. for SimMars. Because of this, my intersections will be terrible and unrealistic. Because of those limitations, don't complain!! Ideas are welcomed, complains not. The trip will begin in Hope-1, the most historical city on Mars. Let's go south, into Faith-3. Here we can see some cars running on the speedway. Yes I know, train overpasses are not such a good idea. If you have a better idea, let me know We just enter Faith-3. This colony has plenty of factories, so freight drivers become very happy with the speedway. Time for some technical informations about the Martian speedways. Artificial intelligence allows the creation of anti-collision radars on cars and makes the car to drive itself. Thanks to those techniques, the drivers can seat back and enjoy the view, without worrying about car accidents. The speedways are also mostly elevated, allowing the free migration of the Martian bears. Here is a typical intersection. The above technologies, as well as the advance flexibility of the cars, allow the creation of smaller but safer intersections. Keep going south and you'll end up in Faith-3 itself. Let's go to the east. This speedway has plenty of intersections, even for the less used roads. This allows more usage of the speedway and better flexibility in commuting. See? Here are the factories of Faith-3. Let's get out of here. We are now in Love-4. An another intersection. Choose a way. Select the northern way and you'll visit Love-4. Let's go to the east. This road leads to the airport, so an intersection can be very useful. And an another intersection for the airport. Let's get out of here again. Welcome to Fun-5 You have a weapon of choice, so use it. East or south? Select east and you'll be in Fun-5. Select south and you'll have a nice view of the spaceport. And this is the winner of "What The Heck Is That?" award for the most useless construction in Simcity 4 community Let's go into an another colony. We are now in Respect-8. This is the only intersection in Respect-8 for now, but it's still useful. Up to the next colony. Welcome to Evolution-7. At last, a really cool intersection! Now choose east, north or west. Select east or north and you'll be in Evolution-7. Select west to go into an another colony. Welcome to Life-6 This roads leads into some farms. An intersection could be useful here. This small road leads to the nuclear plants of Life-6. For now. In the next update, we'll fix it. An another mayor intersection. South or west? If you want to visit Life-6, go south. If you want to keep riding, go west. Logic-2, here we are. Less tools? More creativity The spaceport of Logic-2 is the largest and most important on Mars, so don't surprise with so many intersections. This is a bad road. It takes bad rates on school, so no intersection An another one crazy intersection. The owes of those farms are very happy with this intersection. Let's get out of Logic-2. Welcome back to Hope-1. Here in an another farming intersection. Our trip ends here. You can still keep riding and explore the speedway again. And this is only the beginning. The speedway will expand even more in the next updates. Hope that you like it

You know, rocks, dust, stones, dust and more stones But... er what! What's happen here? Where are the rocks, the plopable buildings and the other lots? Oh now, my colonies ruined Just kidding Sometimes you need to destroy something, in order to to build something. This update is an interesting teaser, about a heavy project. Let's have a look... Utilities will not be here and there any more. It's time to organize them. New Bio-domes!! Unique plopable building will be more unique (have a look at the base). Upgrading the spaceports. And now the highlight. SimMars doesn't has yet one ways and avenues, but is has streets, roads, subways and primary and magnetic rail roads. However it also has 2 other transportation systems that I didn't use... until now! And there are will be even more improvements. The project is all about improving the colonies, from Hope-1 to Respect-8. Any idea is welcomed. More teasers are coming soon

"My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies, Fairy tales of yesterday, will grow but never die, I can fly, my friends!" Queen Some days ago, a virus stroke my computer. It forced me to reboot my computer, so I'm reinstalling Simcity. However my colonies and custom lots are safe and unaffected, so Eden will keep strong. Update 24: EcoTechnoLogic "We won't have a society if we destroy the environment." Margaret Mead The colony is almost ready. All I need is to make the barren surface more realistic and add some extra details. Maybe some workers homes or something very cool. Anyway. Welcome to Respect-8! Respect-8 is the very first Martian colony with a biodome. This colony has a huge park with plenty of trees under the biodome, surrounded by high-tech industries. Respect-8 symbolise the need of co-exist of nature and technology. Let's be honest, technology isn't something exotic. Technology made by Sims. Sims are humans. Humans evolved by ape-like animals and so on. Even some animals have technology, like some birds that use stones like hammers to brake eggs. Human technology can, and should, co-exist with nature. This colony mixes 3 kinds of natures, the Terran, the Martian and the Transhuman. The biodome symbolize the Terran nature, like the trees and the birds. The barren outside of the colony symbolise the Martian nature, like the Martian bears and the Martian trees. The laboratories in the between symbolize the Transhumanistic nature. Some of the factories here creates cybernetic and genetic prosthetics, like synthetic skin, quantum brains and extra durable bones. If we have the technology and responsibility we need, why not upgrading ourselves? This is the Transhumanistic nature, that includes advanced SimMartian and not only. There are also research laboratories that seek for ways to create new life forms. Robotic animals? Brand new species of plants? Bring them all! Other factories creates goods like smart homes, cars, robots e.t.c.. We can also see skyscrapers of Terran and Lunar corporations and Martian services, as well as shops for the workers. Notice those tree-like structures? Factories emits some gases, where some of them can be useful for the terraforming project. Those structures collects those gazes, in order to study them and maybe making them useful. It's a kind of "reusing". Time to see the utilities of Respect-8. Here are the power plants, a small solar collector and some electrostatic "batteries". This is the water department, that contain water pumps and cleaning devices. And this is the waste management, with biomass burners and recycle centres. And yes, it's time to visit the highlight of Respect-8, the bio-dome!! To enter the bio-dome, all you need is to drive into 1 of the 4 airlocks. Then start walking, without spacesuit this time, or riding a horse. Or take the subway This is the central quantum computer of Respect-8, a new part of the Planetary Cybernated Government Network. The bio-dome has some extra utilities, including a water pump and a geothermal power plant. The bio-dome is a truly paradise with plenty of flowers, butterflies, trees and birds. You may also see a few bears, foxes and other animals. Speaking for birds, here is a bird watching tower. The Terran birds adapted very quick on Mars, thanks to the low gravity. However Mars will not be forever a red, barren world. After terraforming, how the birds may evolve into the distant future? It's too soon for the answer, so stay tuned. Watching birds is not the only thing you can do. Picnics, camping, swimming and others thing that you can also do. Of course the low gravity of Mars brings some... interesting effects Respect-8 will not be the only colony with bio-dome. More bio-domes are coming soon. Please stay tuned

  21. Update 3: Brave New World

    "We build this city, we built the city on rock 'n' roll" The Starship Welcome to the year 2050. You, the viewer of this Mayor Diary, are now inside a small spacecraft. You are going to Hope-1, the first extraterrestrial city made by the Sims. Here is Hope-1 from high. Let's get closer. Remember how small and out-of-interest was in the last update? Well, let's say that the robotic building machines made their miracle Prepare for landing. This is the spaceport of Hope-1, small but effective. Let's take an electric taxi and explore the colony. Here is the older part of the colony, with plenty of block of flats and shops. You will also notice some small industries. No matter how rich or poor you are, you are always welcomed to Hope-1. Here are some homes, small and bigger. And here you can see the park, an open area for the colonists to meet and talk. You will also notice the police and the fire stations, as well as the P.Q.C (Primary Quantum Computer). And here are some shops and offices. It looks a bit empty and quiet, but always that sometimes what you see is not what you get. Let's take this road. We are now passing the farmer market and the water cleaning device. East from the central Hope-1, we'll see the Martian farms. Colonists need food, plenty of food, but you don't need to take over the whole planet for some food. Just dig underground Some domed, underground farms. Some Sims like to live here. If you think that apartment buildings next to farms is not realistic, go to 2010 and explore some Greek villages. Besides, you are on Mars Let's go south, to see a small industrial district. And at last, the garbage management system of Hope-1. From the next updates, we'll learn more about Hope-1. This is just a small idea of living on Mars. More are coming soon, so stay tuned (Who knows? You may prefer to live on Mars than on Earth )
