^^^ But that involves entering the city. Unfortunately, it's your only way of keeping the terrain, so you're kinda stuck.

Deleting Things Hidden by Tall Buildings
Rionescu replied to nojacko's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I may be wrong, but I think as soon as you start dragging the bulldoze tool, it starts to work on the ground where your cursor is pointed instead of the building in the way. -
The PFB strikes again!!! If your dieing to see the next page, you can simply enter the next page number at the end of the URL below: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=23&threadid=78236&STARTPAGE= EDIT: This post cured it, so it isn't ready yet for a sequel. The Interchange and Airport threads got to about 10 posts before the next page showed up, so those were definitely in need of a sequel, but this one can wait.

Yeah, they all work just fine together. The shoulders are very nice, since I don't think they have walls like that anywhere in the world on a highway going through rural areas. Once I find a good map I'm going to make a desert region with this concept. It definitely adds a new look to the game.
-
That's one of the best ways I've seen to start a region and I'll try it out soon. As for the highway problems, I would suggest either the RHW, or if that's too hard, try these textures for the Maxis highways (I think you might need these too). A quick search for mrtnrln will yield may interesting results for highways.
-
I love your idea, since I have the same problem as Igmills. I'm gonna try it and see how long I can hold out on build a huge metropolis. I don't think a few pictures is a big deal, since STEX uploads are way bigger. Besides, pictures are constantly posted in City-Building Concepts and they aren't showing signs of letting up, so go ahead. I'd love to see how your towns start and what they grow to become.

overwhelmed train stations/line capacity
Rionescu replied to pseudopathologicalist's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The only thing I can answer and probably the source of the problem is because all trains passing through the station count towards the capacity, so build your station on a spur off the main line. -
Considering the quality of instruction manuals, it's probably not even in there. Thanks from me too, I was actually wondering about that just a few days ago, but I only looked in the settings.
-
Yeah, it's too big. For highways(?) of that capacity a simple intersection would do, and if you really wanted an interchange you could make a trumpet interchange.

Originally posted by: Automaton I'm having trouble with rail, all my stations seems to be maxed out. Oddly, it seems that passengers are getting off and getting back on at each stop, so with a chain of stations, the first will be super overloaded, while each additional a little less so. I'm using the NAM z pathfinding medium, as well as Jasoncw's train station pack mixed with stock stations.quote> It might appear like that, but as far as I know the game counts every train that passes by the station, not just the ones that stop so that's probably why you're getting high usage. If you place your stations off a spur of the main line, you won't have the passer-bys so your usage will only show people getting on and off the trains.

Great CJ, and don't get discouraged if few people are commenting. Once more people take notice you'll be getting more comments than you can handle. On another note, I love the names for your cities and roads. I can see your area of inspiration seems to be Southern Ontario, and I'm guessing your from Mississauga or Toronto? -
You can't. Nothing will develop without power.

The Simtropolis Airport Competition! - Showdown of the Century
Rionescu replied to thepokemaniac's topic in SC4 Showcase
Don't quote me on this, but I think you can build a tunnel with the GHSR but it'll revert to monorail through the tunnel. It probably won't be as pretty as you wanted, and I'm not sure about UDI working either. It's worth a shot if there's no other way though. -
Sharing utilities among regions...
Rionescu replied to Zkythen's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
CaptCity may be right, but I'm pretty sure you can only buy from and sell to ajacent tiles, since I think you can't have one tile buying and selling at the same time. -
abandonment due to poor commute time, yet my city had 1 intersection
Rionescu replied to ed_diaz's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
If they complain of commute time, it could mean that there aren't enough jobs. That's why you'll never see abandoned due to unemployment. -

Heitomat: How did you get those glr-in-road to subway transitions to work for you, because the last tram system I tried wouldn't work and I think those were the problems?
-
I love those curves, but what really peaked by attention was the rhw-6c tunnel work-around. I also like the rhw-8 to rhw-6c transition with the exits and the curves in the top picture are nice too.

And for your second question you can change it in gameplay settings.
