OIL! Drilling Begins, Development Rockets!
bluemoose posted a City Journal entry in The Laughing Moose Showcase
Eaton County Drills for Oil! Eaton County has indeed decided to sell leases for drilling in the western praries. So today we'll look at the new Oil Port and some developments around the Town. An Overview! The New Oil Port is just past the upper right corner of this photo. Some pics of the Oil Port: To handle all the new residents moving to Alcesia, The Earcester and North Railways have built a spur to Alcesia off the main Coastal Line. Also on this spur is the filling station for the Oil Port. This is Fincham Street Station, the only Passenger Terminal in Alcesia as of now: Down Fincham Street is the new Fincham St Park. Downtown Commercial Development creeps west along Fourth St. New Apartments On Third Street New Commercial Towers for the Oil Companies that are moving into Town: Whew, that was a big update, eh? Anyways, thanks for stopping by! -

Replies: Zulu2065- Thanks for the suggestions. I have all of CP's houses. I don't really care for seasonal trees, plus they take up very valuable resources 4 times a year. Roger51- Thanks! I think the one-ways will stay, at least for the short term. Perhaps once traffic increases, the right oneway to third street will be made diagonal, but that would be down the line. Alcesia - New Developments
bluemoose commented on bluemoose's City Journal Entry in The Laughing Moose Showcase
REPLIES Zulu2065- Check out the forums for your reply on the next update MamaLuigi- Shanks keder- Indeed! I'm seeing bunches of new growth CJs... And I have to admit I'm intimidated by _marsh_'s Sandalwood (In case he's lurking here, I really love his CJ's so its a compliment ) NMU Spidey- Reminds me of the town Little Genessee in Western NY. Three houses, a clapboard church and a shack for a Post Office. Vlasky- Gee Whiz! Don't tell anyone else, but you're my new best friend. I don't want them to get jealous you know. -
A quick update. Alcesia has already grown a whole lot. Several city blocks have been added to the north, eating up farmland. This Overview shows how it has grown: Downtown has been redeveloped quite a bit. Business owners are already beginning to build up. The City has also built a Municipal Center, that is a large Fire House and police Station, as well as a Post Office: A new church has been built, St. Raphael Catholic Church, to service the new Northern Neigborhood, made up of primarily new Catholic residents: Also North of Downtown is a new Fast Food Joint, Wendy's. Lastly, a new Pedestrian Ramp up to the Fourth St Bridge: Thanks for visiting! Comment, rate and such, and I'll be your best friend!

Those diagonal and fractional angle neighborhoods look really awesome on the street map! Way to reject the grid! -
OIL OILhas been found in the praries west of Alcesia. Environmentalists and Capitalists butt heads in major cities down the coast. The question? Should we Drill? Vote Now. (Hint: Drilling= more growth, more fun)

Buildingplop doesn't work?
bluemoose replied to Koenieboy997's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
This is an unfortunate problem with that cheat. Ploppable Residential buildings will always abandon. UNLESS you zone for residential before you plop. You must wait for something to grow then plop the R building over it. Commercial and industrial buildings are usually fine, provided you have enough demand and desirability. Good Luck! -

bwong: Thanks! And I comments! burnzie_16: Check out the next entry for the civic center! I just felt the town was too small at this point for set-apart gov't buildings. And the houses are from Mattb325 and some from c.p. Just raid the LEX for those two talented BATters. -
Alcesia - Nearly Natural Growth
bluemoose posted a City Journal entry in The Laughing Moose Showcase
A Little History: Alcesia, named for the Moose that were extremely prevalent in the marshes to the southeast, was once a tiny fort village far to the north. Now, It is still a small town, but the Agriculture business has recently boomed. Now, Shipping the produce away is causing the town to burgeon. Ships now come just to trade, the port has become that popular, even though it is small. As of now, Alcesia is effectively the North Terminus of the Coastal Highway One, a National Route similar to US Route 1 (that is part roadway, part highway, part expressway). But No 4 lane sections exist north of Alcesia, and the Road is rarely traveled but by locals. Enough with the wall of Text! An Overview, to get Situated Downtown Eaton County High School The town is rapidly expanding to the north, eating up the plentiful farmland Fort Susqua A Mosaic! Thanks for stopping by!! Leave a comment and all that Jazz! -
Replies keder- Thanks! Mosaics can convey so much more than a normal pic. yahari- Thank you! The town won't be small for long... Schulmanator- Thanks! emperordaniel- I know there needed to be at lead a ship there, but I could only find large cargo ships, much too big for Alcesia at the time, but theres ships in this update! Roger 51- Thanks! FrancisM89- Thank you! Alcesia - New Developments A quick update. Alcesia has already grown a whole lot. Several city blocks have been added to the north, eating up farmland. Those Squigley Roads are lovely! The Town looks so quaint and peaceful! It looks like it might be hard to fence in those pastures, so maybe and open concept is best Anyways, It looks amazing so far
